  1. And we really performed well against. It was not pace that beat us, it was the fact they got the ball and used it better in the 2nd half.
  2. Once we become negative somehow it runs through the whole system . We will know in 24 hours.
  3. He is still only a kid. Let him find peace in MFC and realise it is only a game !! ( Football, Not the trash idiocy)
  4. NO, NOTNOW, NOT THIS WEEK. NO !!!
  5. Yes, he is an enigma. At timers he is the heart & soul of the side, but other times he restricts out ball movement. Today was not the side to restrict ball movement against, because as soon as they got set (or the opportunity to set up) they just moved the ball and took our midfield out of the game. I still maintain he would be sensational as a small fwd .
  6. Yes, that was in the first half. After half time resorted to playing merry-goround
  7. I am sorry ,he is a delegator. Steven May is the lynchpin of our backline. Lockart is the improver The problem with our defence is the lack of pressure & presence of our smallr fowds , who ällowed"Footdcray to move the ball down the ground at will. Players like Daniel & Liberatore set people like Bont, MCrae & Smith up in moving the ball down the ground with the least resistance BECAUSE they choose the right options (and are given time to do so).

There is probably no one who is trying harder because he is used as backup ruckman, fwd line competitor . I agree he has lost thta athletic durability no doubt due to injury( longer term) . He is a bloke who has used every ounce that he has. In 2018 the ball was coming to him and he had enough pace to catch it.
  9. MAy May May Viney (first half) then started to run in circles. Salem Fritsch (but for kicking) Brahshaw
  10. I think he has tremendous talent, but he is too easily brushed away when tackling. MUst learn that at his size.
  11. I think Tmac is playing a really good team game. He is providing a contest all over the groun d as well as holding his own in the ruck. So be fair. This goig to be a context between how effective Viney is cf Liberatore. Viney is at last breaking out of packs rather than running in circles. AN extremely tight contest.

I went to the footy just to watch Flower. First saw him when he came on the ground as 19th man @ Collingwood in the Reserves > The Athletic Glasses made him look like a little skinny kid. C'wood barrrackers laughed. After he had shown half their side what he could do they were calling out "Kill the kid!!!!" Bast day of football ever except for beating (belting) North in the final in his last year. Unbelivable footballer !! Current : Gus or Jetta plus afew others.
  13. It is agreed that this bloke is a quality person full stop, and has to be admired for taking the second chance with both hands. He is a definite community leader by hias actions and attitude. His parents would be very very proud of him He also has been a terrific footballer.
  14. Agree, I posted on another topic the same thing. We are establishing the nucleus of a really good side. Premiership sides do not have 22 stars, but a lot of people who play their roles. ( Name all of Hawthorns Premiers 0nly 5 years ago or RIchmonds 3 years ago)) We have the best ruckman (or close to it) , a bloody good backup now, the fabulous 4. a replacement for Jetta (although I wish he could still keep going at his best) , an outside wingmen/medium fwd. Small Fwds still in their football infancy. A Full Fwd , Three really good first years ( Jackson, Rivers Kozzie). A couple of really good second + years ( Sparrow & Lockart). Our Defence is no longer a sieve ( thanks to May) PLUS we have backups for most of these. Start building the flagpoles !!!
  15. You can putt the lights out until you go on to the course and then it becomes difficult
  16. I feel the structure and gameplan of our midfield has changed a lot for the better. The "bursting"runs of Clarrie cf the "get rid of it handballs" plus the involvement/improvement of Gus is providing our runners with more GOOD opportinities. I have not forgotten about TRacwho has been good all year. But Jack V played a similar role last week with his willingnes to share the ball instead of killing the tackler has made difference. Bennell coming back into this environment woukd be the icing on the cake. My only wish is that the next step for Kozzie is to complete his tackles. That would make him a real menace (to others) However he is only 19 and in his first year. Think of the improvement of Sparrow, Rivers & Jackson and suddenly the world is brighter.
  17. TMac may not have dominated , but he is a competitor in the ruck and in the forward like, which suits our smaller fwds . I would bei nterested in how our coaching staff rate some of the "lesser lights "contributions tonight.
  18. I love Jetta ,but Lockart is his reincarnation . SImilar traits insofar as Courage, Toughness and "Teamness". HAs been extremely solid . Notice the other wekk when he appeared to fighting outside his weight range and May came in to help him out. Back six is gelling.
  19. Why oh why would we even entertain or be thinking about this issue when we saw the Fabulous four demonstrate what they are capable of tonight. They were working with a losing ( but competitive) ruck against three of the best midfielders in AFL ( Sidebotton, Pendlebury & Adams) . SInce Clarrie has decided that if he moves into top gear not many people catch him . Viney's game tonight gave us real grunt wewhen needed. Petracca ahs gone into elite category. & Gus is the bloke who sets the plays up by putting the ball into a better position by his decision making (and ability to work both sides of his body) ., It is amazing that when Gus is on song our game flows !!! Plus Langdon has provided the outside run we were looking for. And I must admit May is as good a player as the brains trust @MFC thought. Now we have them complementing each other why would you swap for a "might be"
  20. 29 Disposals 4 Marks 7 Score Involvements 8 Inside 50’s 1 Goal Welcome back Mr.Brayshaw Sparrow : Good game for an intern Jackson,Kickett,Rivers, Sparrow :: Ooze potential Langdon : Learn to kick LF, Needs to onegrab !!
  21. Do you actually believe those placings. They are only to put in the paper !!!
  22. Maybe our game against Port was not too bad after all. Must admit , have seen some rippers in the last week. Freeo v C'wood, RV Port , Saints vs GC, WC vs someone else . All been good !!! M v A top of the tree.
  23. Apart from that you seem happy with the team selection. ??
  24. Is Gus the new OMac ? or what. Once a bloke is in the gun nothing he does will ever be good enough. Yes....he was in the middle at the first bounce, but spent a lot of the first half off the ground. However when he got going in the 2ns half he "synced with Oliver and Max AND provided silver service down the ground. Makes a difference !!!! (Back to 2018)
  25. At least this discussion is based on appreciation of the positives some players bring to MFC rather than bagging everything. I have been advocating for Jack Viney to be our small fwd. He is a poor man's Cyril in that opposing players in yhe area would have an eye out for where he is. We would be guaranteed a contest in there on the ground and it means that we do not lose by having our bigger mids i.e. Clarrie, Gus in there . They then form part of the pressure to hold the ball in by supporting that area between HF & Centre which is the most dangerous spot on the ground yo lose control (as Per Jobe Watson , Jordon Lewis and Hodgey.and other recent players. In that way we can keep our good players but always have options up[ our sleeves.
