For years we've had to sit through the media showcasing famous Grand Final moments that always featured other sides, and the Demons never got a mention. There's only the barest footage of Neil Crompton's goal in 1964, and all other great Demon moments were pre-TV. Even the Saints have the footage of Breen's famous point, and Whitten's "hit the boundary". (Perhaps that's a curse.) Now, finally, we have our very own Great Grand Final Moment, and it maybe tops all others.

I live in Castlemaine and was light on for Demon company (plenty of Dogs fans) but serendipitously, it turns out the bloke who lives across the street is a hard core Demon. Still, the fact that Castlemaine is not a Demon hotbed hasn't stopped me from wearing an item of Demon clothing every day since the Grand Final.

The Grand Final umpires, who largely refused to pay coodabeen-paid frees to the Dogs. Although, that was the Dogs' own fault for overacting earlier in the finals (and all year).

Dermott is probably a good bloke, but his footy analysis is too often poor and pretentious. Ask yourself how much weight his opinions would carry if he wasn't a famous (and very good) ex-player. He tries to sound impressive but too often uses big words he doesn't know the meaning of, and butchers other big words. Take apart his wise-old-man pronouncements and you find the essence of what he says is okay, but often garbled in layers of sloppy garnish. That said, we have to be wary of Cats 2007 and Tigers 2018. In both years they were clearly the best side, but were ambushed in the finals. There's a good chance we will be the best side next year, but I hope we don't expose our flank in the finals.

Even when it was flying high it had "hmmmmm" written all over it.

I'm hoping we can double up, and there is every reason to believe we can play better in 2022, but I'm wary of the precedents set by the Cats in 2008 and the Tigers in 2018, who were both coming off a flag, and who were both the best sides in the home-and-away season, and who both got ambushed in the finals.
