  1. In journalistic jargon "seems certain" is on a par with a question mark at the end of a headline.
  2. CS has a dirty reputation out west from his time at Fremantle - plenty of 'Gropers dislike him. Denham is a West Aussie, a West Coast Ducks fan, but with contacts in WA footy. Most probably Denham's animosity started with Schwab's time at the Dockers. Coincidentally, Denham was a big fan of Melbourne as recently as the start of the 2007 season, when he tipped Melbourne for the flag. CS came on board in 2008 and ever since then Denham has been stabbing Melbourne.
  3. "Got the job done" has been around for several years, but in 2012 it reached performance enhanced epidemic levels with commentators saying it repeatedly over-and-over, etc, et al, and the rest, ad nauseum.
  4. Any chance we could smuggle an Ivan Drago-style Russian boxer onto the rookie list?
  5. Three tautologies: 1) vacant mid-wicket gap; 2) basic fundamental; and 3) Adelaide feral.
  6. Melbourne's "we won't over-rate Jack Viney" has a hint of West Coast's "Jack Darling is a liability" about it.
  7. The Battle of the Blighted. (Literally, in one aspect.)
  8. I agree with you in essence, OD, but since we are cursed Melbourne I would expect St Kilda to pick up the next Judd with the pick before ours.
  9. Can the compensation picks be activated this year?
  10. Well, he did preface his remark with "this is going to get me into trouble." And to be fair, Melbourne 2012 was hardly a high.
  11. This is currently the order. Why does our pick change? ROUND ONE 1. Greater Western Sydney 2. Gold Coast 3. Melbourne 4. Melbourne (GWS compensation - Tom Scully) 5. Western Bulldogs 6. Western Bulldogs (GWS compensation - Callan Ward) 7. Port Adelaide 8. Brisbane Lions 9. Richmond 10. Essendon 11. Carlton 12. St Kilda 13. Melbourne (GWS compensation - Tom Scully) 14. North Melbourne 15. Geelong 16. Fremantle 17. West Coast 18. Collingwood 19. Adelaide 20. Greater Western Sydney (GWS compensation - via Adelaide - Phil Davis) 21. Hawthorn 22. Sydney Swans
  12. One word: repeatability. Bad Boy Buddy's action lacks simplicity - too many things have to go right for him to consistently kick straight. Brad Green was prone to have bad days, too, because he relied on a curve in flight. The straighter you run in, kick through the ball and keep your head down, the more chance there is you will kick straight regularly, and the less chance there is you will confuse you muscle memory. Mitchell Johnson has the same problem with his bowling.
  13. Not his only problem - FTB.
  14. "The Trap." Ha, ha. Giving them a nickname will not legitimise what was just another 80s revivalist slop fest. Nui te Koha is a music industry shill. He has never seen an act he didn't like. Can't jeopardise the free tickets by bagging a show. Reminds me of half the footy journos.
  15. Rodney Eade resigned (after he was pushed) too and is in a similar position at Collingwood. Wonder Pie?
  16. Will Craig tip us into Brad Symes?
  17. The coin is in the pudding. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
  18. I like Brock's style. Footy fans should admire him for his cheek, rather than browbeat him into another sporting blandoid.
  19. Indeed.
  20. Interesting tweet from Brock:
  21. Hey, Nudge. How's Mr Kelly travelling?
  22. Christ ON a bike, peddler pedant. Farcical speculation - unless you have a direct ear to the footy department - that we should pick up either of those two semi-scrubbers, Sheldon or Stiller.
