  1. I don't want to bash the umpires - oh, who am I kidding? Of course I do - but the umpires kept inventing imaginary frees to Hawthorn from a 100 metres away, but when Melbourne players were decapitated, mugged and kicked right in front of the umpires, the umpires ignored it. Also, there was a moment in the last quarter when a Hawks defender tapped the ball straight into the Demons' point post, but the umpire did not pay deliberate out-of-bounds.
  2. Truth free.
  3. Keep Bail.
  4. Roos potting Melbourne on Monday night - seems just like old times.

    Luck

Most players who come into the AFL can run, kick, hand pass and generally play. The key is to turn those draftees into AFL standard adult footballers, which requires more than just talent and coordination, it requires aggression and strength. What that list lacks are players who can play footy AND compete with adult footballers. Tapscott & Grimes try hard, but have their limitations. Trengove has good skills and it looks like he can be turned into a league footballer if he gets his body right. The rest are yet to understand - or never did understand - that footy is all about big blokes knocking over other big blokes. What we need are competitive animals, not nice looking footballers.
  6. On Footy Classified last night Garry Lyon did his best to deflect blame from his mates Connolly, Schwab and Stynes (and by implication Garry himself) by forcefully arguing that the current problem with Melbourne is the current playing list. Certainly the current list is chock full of sub optimal talent, but surely the problems of 2007 to 2013 have fed into the current problems on the field. Basically those 7 dismal years have meant the club is coming from a long, long way back.
  7. Three.
  8. Look on the bright side: Hawthorn next week.
  9. Some of the mistakes... God. Hell. Derision.
  10. Meanwhile, GWS players are gagging to get out of the place. Rich pickings for a clever club. Just as long as we don't try any stupid revenge stunt and pay massive overs for a GWS player.
  11. Surely Garry Lyon knows making suggestions to Melbourne is trouble.
  12. In 2014 we are clearly better than 2013 when we were utter filth. And yet, in 2014 we may finish bottom and one place lower than 2013 despite being 100-times better.
  13. A footballer saying "I will decide at the end of the year" is about as truthful as a real estate agent's quote at an open for inspection.
  14. The lower we finish, the more likely Chip will go (or be encouraged to go). It is certainly unlikely Melbourne will go anywhere near an extravagant offer.
  15. Don't you love the way Chip keeps going on about how he's put off negotiations until the end of the year, at which point he will make his decision? Meanwhile there are all sorts of negotiations going on and we are expected to believe Chip has had no input. Footy is lies.
  16. I would have loved him to expand on how we will make the transition from heavily defensive to more attacking. But I liked that he made mention of the fact that if you can score and make the opposition work harder in defence you make it easier for your own defence.
  17. If Watts made contact with Wingard's head on the follow-through it's clearly a free kick.
  18. The poster has veered wildly into the dismal mysteries of Footy Maths. Team A beats Team B, Team B beats Team C, therefore Team A must beat Team C.
  19. Melbourne may have lost yesterday, but we got ALL the votes in The Age: PORT ADELAIDE v MELBOURNE (Ashley Porter) Dom Tyson (Melbourne) 8 Ollie Wines (Port Adelaide) 7 Colin Garland (Melbourne) 7 Neville Jetta (Melbourne) 7 Nathan Jones (Melbourne) 7
  20. Anyone with any awareness of other professional competitions around the world saw it coming.
  21. Footy Fact! 2014 Melbourne beat Adelaide by 3 & lost to Port by 3, which makes 2014 the Dees' best ever net year in SA since Port joined AFL.
  22. Really, really, REALLY need to know how the umpire managed to ping Jones for a throw despite being 30m directly behind Jones. And, and, AND that's in a game where 999 throws right in front of the umpire were not paid.
  23. I'll take four close losses instead of fourteen 100 point losses.
  24. Ambushed? You mean, you didn't see it coming?
