I went to a posh school where there were lots of Melbourne supporters, but there were almost as many Richmond supporters. The Tigers have a very well heeled supporter base.

Richmond have always been my most hated side. I will be shattered if they manage to pinch the flag; especially in this even year.

Clarko is right. But half of good kicking is having someone to kick it to. We need to be better able to provide options for the kicker.

Breaking free into space to kick the ball requires two things: longer handballs to players who have spread quickly into space, or outright strength and speed to run the ball into space. Clearly other sides have put work into us to slow down our handball release. And we lack the players to bust into space with run and grunt. We also lack players ahead of the ball who know how to find space. (We also lack ball carriers who can hit those players in space.) I'm not convinced starting more players behind the ball is ultimately sustainable unless we can free up players ahead of the ball. Peter, Paul, etc. It's got to be a shock tactic used sporadically. I think we are on the right track - fingers crossed - and natural development still has its work to do. Ultimately I think we have a few too many physically undersized players who don't look like reaching a big enough size. I also think we lack two zone busting speed merchants. Hopefully our footy department knows we lack grunt and outright speed.

Pity Casey Willy is not on telly in preference to the Tigers Collingwood snore fest.

I don't think Melbourne's "communication", or whatever you want to call it, is any different from any communication over the last few years. Unless there is some specific information being released, I automatically delete it.

The AA selectors are on drugs.

Judging by our sporadic performances since the Bulldogs win, we have been worked out. A coach starting his tenure will have some new ideas and will show some innovative tactics. But once the opposition get a look at you the hard work starts. Now is the time for Goodwin to earn his pay.

What's laughable is my own early season opinion that Melksham is not much good.

Do the AA selectors stray outside their brief when they pick players for a career's worth of work instead of for that one year's worth of work?

I'm rarely critical of the umpires - except when I'm critical of the umpires - but I was only critical of today's umpires in the 3rd qtr when they were busy getting St Kilda back into the game.
