  1. I can break it down to an even more basic want - I want to WIN! Here's a shocking thought - why don't we present in the corridor, so we can kick it down the corridor, instead of chipping it around the edges? Its a while since I was a kid in school doing maths, but I do still seem to remember that the quickest link between A & B was a STRAIGHT LINE! It's also harder to kick it out of bounds if you kick it straight down the middle! How many times do you hear the crowd yelling "KICK IT" but there's no-one there to kick it to? I guess that's just too basic and straightforward to try?
  2. I disagree - I am sick of the anti Melbourne bias in the media. We copped more flak by beating GC by 90 points than Port did by losing to them? WTF?
  3. I volunteer to untie Colin Sylvia's shoelaces! How embarassing! Go Dees - there's always next week - but pleeeease, a win next time - it's very hard to get a fair day's work done when everyone kept coming up to me and asking me what happened! Lol - we all have bad days sometimes.
  4. Thanks I now have a wierd visual image of myself at games, wearing my horns and thumping my sticks together. Oh what a classy sort I am!
  5. I got my membership pack today (hooray) - and included are two plastic banners and a little straw. I think these must be the thunder sticks referred to in the cheersquad booklet. I always thought I had a reasonable IQ, but I have to confess to being completely stumped by these. What are they and do I assemble them? I can't see any instructions anywhere, so I need help from someone who is more stickly aware than I am! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!
  6. I always wear horns to the games. I never feel fully dressed until they are on. It will be good to have a 'spare set' in case of breakages!!!
  7. It's my understanding you need to be at least 30 with 10 years of playing behind you to be a veteran? (Correct me if I'm wrong anyone) - so no-one else qualifies. And as half of a veteran's salary doesn't count for the cap, it's almost like a two for one deal as far as the cap goes. I know Bruce doesn't seem to have a lot of fans here, but I will still miss him at games. I know we are pursuing a youth at all costs policy, but the youth need leadership while they are developing. We are running a little short of senior players this year. We can't expect kids only a year or two out of high school to front up against seasoned veterans and win the contests just because they are younger. There are tricks they need to learn, and it is better learning them from your own old dogs than learning them by getting your backside soundly whipped during a game. Oh well, it's done now, no point crying about it.
  8. When your mate does his nudie dash make sure he wears his Richmond scarf!
  9. I hope things go well for Colin. I think with blood clots (used to have a friend with a child who was prone to them) they give you blood thinning drugs until they are confident the clot has broken up - as someone has previously mentioned, the danger is if the clot moves it can move to an organ and 'get stuck' causing damage (in this child's case it was kidney failure) - if it gets to the heart or the brain you are in big trouble. I would rather see Colin take whatever time he needs to be safe than rush him back for Monday's game. It's only a game after all, and someone's health is more important.
  10. Where? I can't see it on FB
  11. It will be good to see Aussie back - he has been missed. (You've gotta really love the frog dance!)
  12. Ha Ha - it reminds me of watching 'classic quarters' once - there was a Melbourne/Hawthorn match from the 80s. Big hair and little shorts. Dermie and (I think) Flower were rolling around on the ground pulling each others "do's" like two high school girls. It was funny.
  13. There's no point saying anything because the AFL thinks the sun shines out of their umpire's butts & they can do no wrong. Seeing Jamie Bennell grabbed by the arm and slung into the goal post, and then the West Coast player was given the ball - you've got to wonder if the umpires are one-eyed, blind, or under instruction from the AFL to prevent us from winning in the hope we will fold & then pave the way for Herr Dimitriou's new babies - GWC & WS. So Aaron's nose was broken today was it? Last time we met WC they broke Colin Sylvia's jaw without report. Doesn't that just tell you something about the umpiring and the AFL in general? People will be thugs when they think they can get away with it - and WC KNEW they could get away with just about anything today.
  14. My suggestion - out = stupid whistle blowing power mad field umpires who stick their noses in when they aren't required. In = me. I will make sure we get a fair go! (I doubt I will be able to keep up, but will try!)
  15. According to Gazza on Footy Classified, the club queried them on the Monday, and were reassured that there 'would not be a clash'. The club was even told that the umps would be wearing white socks (not) and that the pink would be minimal (not). Clearly the club was given false information. An apology is not good enough. The AFL is big business, and should have the pockets to compensate the club for this mistake, compounded by denying the club the opportunity to take corrective measures in time. If the AFL had been honest straight up, they could have arranged some new shirts (a lighter pink) and some white socks in time to prevent this problem. But they weren't. It was dishonest and deceptive conduct, and the AFL should rectify the consequences of it/
  16. If that goal umpire had stuck to his guns, the game was ours. By changing the decision the Filthy Dogs got a sniff. It doesn't matter if the goal umpire sticks to his guns or not, if there is a dispute the lesser score stands. Which leaves the game at the whim of any little power mad dufus (oh, pretty much what we had to put up with then) to 'spoil' a goal whether he has grounds or not. I have suggested to the AFL that if the goal umpire's decision isn't paramount in his own area of expertise, then they should be dispensed with and the money saved used to offset rising admission costs. Never going to happen, but a nice thought anyway. Too many umpires anyway, none of them are worth diddlysquat so what is the point?
  17. Well he came back and played out the game, so I don't know what that means.
  18. Agree with you both - and I have just had a whinge on another thread about the umpiring. He may as well have had his North Melbourne socks on!
  19. I know we played a really awful game in the first half but... I've been to three North games in a row where the umpire has awarded a free to North for falling over their own feet - once it cost us the game. I hope OPSM aren't paying much for their sponsorship, because the umpires are a really bad advertisement for the product. Number 31 for North deserves a Logie for his performance today - he deliberately took a dive behind Jamar and played it up for a free. That's cheating and the AFL should take action, but as Demetriou used to play for North, that will never happen. Umpire Number 6 deserves to be sacked. No matter what we did, he blew that damned whistle. Towards the end of the game the Kangas were deliberately staging and laughing as they got the ball - they understood what was happening and made the most of it. If I thought it was worth the time I would request a refund from the AFL - if I wanted to see a fictional story I would go to Hoyts or Village. I go to the footy because I want to see a fair game. I pay my entrance fee on the understanding that I am going to see a game of football, not a movie. Oh well, the rest of the season will show who is the better team - North won't get umpire Number 6 every week to help them make goals, but I believe we will keep going up up up the ladder!
  20. OK ok, I will display my ignorance here - why is Jamar called the Russian?
  21. Well, I couldn't hear it either over the noise of the crowd. And as other posters have said, the club songs are too low as well. I suppose the MCG really need to turn it up, it has caused enough drama just because of two teams who won't even make finals - imagine the drama if it happened during finals .
  22. The court ruled that the ticket belonged to the new wife - so it wasn't his money to give away anyway. I hope she invests it wisely - and doesn't let him get his hands on it as he doesn't have a great track record with money!
  23. You are assuming that the delays have been caused by council - have you ever considered that maybe the club was responsible for a lot of them? Remember there have been two parties to this negotiation, don't assume that one is entirely to blame for the time it has taken.
  24. I wouldn't worry - the no vote is pulling ahead. I've already voted twice.
  25. This year's scarf was a little short though - I like a long one. Probably use it for 'storing' the badges and wear one from a previous year. Whinge Whinge, I will be there in colours anyway.
