  1. Fwiw, Brereton's view was 4-5 years to 'really dominate', that's the impression I got from his article. Not 4-5 years 'ready to play'.
  2. IMO Matera & Mainwaring were pretty good back then. Even though I held Stinga in high regard. I wouldn't say he was the best, but he was close to it.
  3. Interesing article by Caroline Wilson that you posted there RR. Wow, she can sure drop a bomb shell. Something new I believe in this article which grabbed my eye, which I did not know. Ben Cousins confessing something new i believe........ "As a result, and coupled with the fact that Brisbane has become cold on the idea of drafting the former champion midfielder, who confessed that he had been a drug addict for 10 years, St Kilda looks almost certain to be the only club offering Cousins a home in the AFL." - Real Footy article by Caroline Wilson, 21/11/2008. I didn't know he has been addicted to drugs for 10 years. That would take it back to 1998. Yet, he has never been tested positive. The AFL would not be happy about this, it doesn't look good. From what I gather, which has also been reported on SEN, this little confession highlighted in Wilson's article - we may here more of, I have no doubt.
  4. Yes, I heard O'Keefe say that. From what I heard from the commentary, it was a pearler first up to the left hander. Haydos might be in the gun for you already RR - as you have stated, does this mean the gun is now cocked with the finger on the trigger as a result of a 'Golden Duck?' IMO if Jaques was fit, there would be alot more pressure on Hayden right now.
  5. If there is one other good thing or positive thing to come out of this, it is the knowledge that the mfc Powerpoint Presentation is now successful in appointing those who we target!!
  6. Wickets are tumbling now, Watson just struck. The pendulum is swinging back. All of the sudden the score of 214 looks like alot of runs for the Kiwi's. Score is 6/129. LIVE SCORES AT THE GABBA TEST
  7. Its a genuine big announcement for the club, a huge coup. To have spoken to a few clubs, not just us (I hope Carlton was one of them ) and to decide to commit to Melbourne's path of youth. West would love to get his hands dirty teaching the kids. The players at Melbourne should absorb his knowledge like a sponge. Seven best & fairests at the Bulldogs, over 300 games worth of experience. They don't come around often. Whilst the appointment is part-time, I sincerely hope his involvement with the mfc lasts longer than Brett Rattens involvement. edit: - If there is one other good thing or positive thing to come out of this, it is the knowledge that the mfc Powerpoint Presentation is now successful in appointing those who we target!! :D
  8. Bailey perhaps. Yes. Moloney's bash & crash and kicking long certainly needs an added dimension to his game. West could provide just that.
  9. Jack Watts?
  10. No, I don't think Martin and Schwarz have real similarities. Body size maybe. But balance, leap, having a ball on a string definitely not. Did you ever see Schwarz?
  11. Crunch year for Moloney. He's not the only one. He needs consistent games next year.
  12. It's Jamar alright. I noticed in the 'Summit' article on Monday in the HUN, the journalist didn't mention Rivers either when highlighting the players in attendance.
  13. In a way, I'm sort of 'glad' NZ took honours on the first day. We have a contest on Australian soil. However, they would want to do well in the first session today, otherwise if the Aussies get 3 or 4 wickets - as you say Titan - in the first session, its goodbye NZ. The Aussies will take a strangle hold in their second dig.
  14. You know what they say Diablo, you can't teach an old dog new tricks... Yes. Good point regarding Moloney.
  15. Exactly right. Probably got an exemption for a wax appointment.
  16. H_T

    Colm Begley

This kid could be the chosen one...training with the filth though..... I dare say Stynes would know a bit about him..
  17. Ahem! I think he waxed there too.
  18. My last two are: - 64 Ledin - mid. 76 Van Berlo - h-back/back pocket No doubt about that.
  19. True. Keep the threads. :D
  20. Like your train of thought and would love to see that happen, but a 'Dean Cox type of ruckman' is a big call IMO. Dean Cox dominates the AFL in terms of ruckwork. All Australian. So that would have to be the level for Martin to get to in your opinion. Long way to go!
  21. Thanks WJ, well done. Swift Alliance - I don't mind the odd omen now and again either. Wild Card or not, would be a good pick up nevertheless.
  22. Apparently, press conference tomorrow at 10:45am, Casey. You can't wait until then?
  23. There is simply no chance of Melbourne picking up Cousins. I repeat. NO CHANCE. Melbournefc have stipulated that. So forget him.
  24. I'm expecting more games for Martin, down back, perhaps even in the ruck. He may not play as many games as I would like, with the return of Rivers - but that remains to be seen. As for Spencer, we haven't seen him at AFL level yet, despite him looking very promising at VFL. Prefer to see further improvement and would expect to see him debut at least before the end of the 2009 season finishes if he gets his chance.
