  1. The AFL it seems. Upholding the integrity of the National Draft process.
  2. I read somewhere today, that Viagra is now being looked at as a performance enhancing drug. Searching for link... edit: - ANTI DOPE LOOKS AT VIAGRA LINK
  3. Agreed. G.Lyon has insisted that he will put his hand up, for whenever Jim seeks his help for the benefit of the club. Jim has the people for the board and in various positions at the club, to do the required work. To take the view that he's there to "cut the ribbon" or doesn't get his "hands dirty" is nothing short of being disrespectful to G.Lyon. He is someone who devotes his time and effort to the club in his best capacity, when our club is in dire need. edit: - Has it ever occurred to some people that G.Lyon may have played his part in securing S.West as a part time coach in some capacity?!

    Luke Molan

True. Great article too. Tough break for Molan, or in this case tough break(s). To see the rest of the top 10 picks in that draft, anyone would just shake their head including recruiters back then and think, "wow, what rotten luck." Even the likes of Hodge & Moloney who played footy with Molan at the Falcons.
  5. I don't think you are wrong. I believe it is an assistance fund or a concession by the AFL in order to maintain balance and somewhat maintain a level playing field amongst the clubs - in some shape or form when a club(s) seeks assistance, but the club(s) in question must prove their 'business model' to support their need or show the AFL their business plan as such to seek approval of this 'assistance fund'.
  6. Ok. So we get some exposure. Maybe Volvo gets mentioned a few times. The NAB draft as well as other sides will still be getting media attention as well. Maybe I'm playing the devils advocate here, but if our No.1 pick is named on Thursday night. What is to say West Coast can't name there no.2 pick at a function on Friday, before Saturday's draft? Making a mockery of the draft. Do we know the AFL's stance on this yet? Or have they given the club approval for this? Pheonix raised a good point here. What if he did supposedly get hit by a tram/bus/car? Unlikely. But what if he did? Better for us to keep it in wraps until Saturday IMO. If they do, and the AFL have no problem, so be it. They would have set a precedent for future drafts. In a few years time. We'll all know the first 4 or 5 in order before the draft has started. P.S. See all at the function.
  7. I agree Titan. Katich's innings I thought was definitely a man-of-the-match innings, on a wicket that was difficult to bat on and did favour the quicks. However, Johnson not only bowled well, but hung around with the bat when batting with Katich. Either way they both played well. Had it been a regular Gabba pitch, Krejza would of played.
  8. I think they should keep it low key myself. Keep the other clubs guessing and a little anxious. What or how could they benefit from naming the pick, 72 hours earlier? If they've seriously done their homework on all the kids to be drafted, they should sit back and watch the other recruiters sweat it out on draft day.
  9. True. Unbelievable. Thought it was a boring game at times. Arsenal 0-3 down to City. That's a huge loss in the scheme of things for the championship.
  10. I think the confession from Ben saying that he has had an addiction for 10 years, which Caroline Wilson has reported, is hard evidence. Something which hasn't come out until her article. That's pretty big news IMO.

    TOM HISLOP

Except that 'Hislop might have wanted out'
  12. Collingwoods 1st pick might be a bit too early. He might be a chance for Brissy - he's from Qld. (pick 25). Our pick 35, I was hoping Zaharkis (midfielder) might slide there, but if not Nick Suban (small defender) or Sam Wright (leading forward).
  13. Schoenmakers, Johnston should go earlier than Schoenmakers. 'Schoey' would complement Watts. Then again so would Tom Lynch..
  14. Whilst it is early days BB, you're right. This year alone has seen much change. Change for the better. Come Saturday afternoon there will be further change, and we can put new faces to our future club, future era. New faces that will help form the backbone of our on field revival. Whilst we may not get the results on field next year, we will certainly see the fruits and of what there is to come. I too, have had the same feedback from my mates, some Hawthorn, some Richmond, Essendon, Cat and Bulldog supporters. All of the same view that things are developing at Demon land. *So we should act like we will be around! And so we should act as though we WILL be successful, that's what everyone strives for as their ultimate goal. Jim Stynes and his board have already achieved good things, but its only the start. Its ongoing more importantly, no one can rest from the President down. New challenges will arise such as the financial crisis. The picks in the ND will not be the answer to our prayers. Its harnessing, teaching, nursing and developing that talent, those picks. Adding & Subtracting more players. Coaching. Developing new partnerships, networks. Attracting new members as well as retaining existing members. Debt Demolition, the appointment of Cameron Schwab, the SUMMIT are 3 big achievements for the club. Some will say Scott West is a coup too, but that remains to be seen. Major sponsors is next on the agenda, along with our new recruits. Following that is the improvement on the footy field, this just has to happen so the ideas and the strategies the club has in line, prosper.
  15. Indeed. Will be interesting to see the immediate impact he has in the first few rounds. Interesting angle. He might not be the f#cking messiah. But the influence he has had on the younger players at the Bulldogs has been paramount and the likes of Cooney and in particular Cross & Boyd have benefited greatly. Anyone who has played 324 games with 7 best & fairests and reads the game better than anyone deserves a little respect regardless of whether or not they're part time. West had spent alot of time on the sideline this year due to his knee. He also spent much time in the box game day, and hands on roles at training helping the younger guys. Don't under sell him just yet.
  16. But will they match his determination and winning the hard ball?
  17. Answer: BROCK MCLEAN- besides being one of the better contributors on the footy field, the name has captaincy written all over it for a start, its bold, strong, confronting, represents change...... ........now lets look at another contender: cameron bruce - it doesn't hold the same characteristics to me...
  18. In terms of captaincy, is that what you mean? As a cricketer, Ponting leaves him for dead IMO. Vettori is a consistent performer for the Kiwi's, a bowler you can rely on taking 2-4 wickets each innings in Tests. Doesn't take enough big bags of wickets IMO. Handy with the bat at best. Yes, he does have a great attitude towards the game, he seems to play fair. He needs to be more aggressive.
  19. I think he means those "Laser devices" you can use to highlight things during presentations. So the group watching can follow. In this case West must of watched every detail of the presentation..lol
  20. Thanks Rogue. Good pick up. Although there was an additional comment....
  21. Come to think of it, thats a good pick up Eastie. They do run in a similar fashion. Kerr of course is more explosive.

    TOM HISLOP

Any way you look at the article, it suggests none of those points. Your guessing. Although off-field issues may have something to do with it.
  23. Lead of 131 runs to Aussies. Not enough. Score is 4/73 in the second innings. The way this game is going it will all be over before tea tomorrow!
  24. Correct Shaft. Who'd blame him...
