  1. methinks eddie's grandiose posturing was more about eddie and his mates in the media than it was about footy and tasmania. just can't help himself
  2. yeah, it's dead easy, skuit. before each game the club email you a barcode number, which can be used on ticketek/ticketmaster to get a $0 ticket. ticket is in form of a barcode either downloaded to phone or could be printed. later on if ticketek/ticketmaster prebooking not required the club issued barcode could be used directly it's basically all digital now so easy to transfer digitally
  3. well if we are telling stories from the 60's.... I remember playing a school football game a against a marist college at their campus It was a long way there and we were bussed in. They put on a lunch for us in the boarding house, followed by a quick tour of the boarding house and school. It was a fairly new campus and i think they wanted to impress us. anyway they were showing us one of the boarding dormitories. It was quite nice being new and spacious. just to the right of the door on the wall was a huge mirror, about 6' high by 10'wide. I thought where it was positioned was odd and asked one of the students. He said a brother's bedroom was on the other side and it was a 2-way mirror so the brother could watch. I remember then how creepy i thought that was. not that that particular priest might be creepy (he may have been or not) but creepy that what sort of organisation would instruct the architect to put in a 2-way mirror to spy into a kid's dormitory
  4. well i have no idea why my response has disappeared without any comment secret censors

  6. oh i get it, dieter......and i have no respect for the rc church and their dirty little goings on what i don't get is wyl's little contribution here re pell's guilt of paedophilia based on some third-hand gossip from the 80's with absolutely no details or proof..............absolutely pointless and unhelpful post......but there ya go, it's wyl i can understand your anger too. going to school at rupertswood was obviously traumatic
  7. so these news cameramen in country towns back in the 80s saw pell commit paedophilia right!
  8. i understand all that.....but it won't work against the better sides as they have too many geriatrics with no stamina/speed

  17. yes, one doesn't want to use words of praise to to such a tragic story, but it was a story that needed to be told and was very well crafted and objective.

  20. that certainly was a long harrowing and tragic read. i do hope his life stays turned around child abuse is such an horrific and devastating crime it's also such an insidious and secretive activity carried out by very calculated people for too long no-one wanted to talk about it (victim or just anyone) and it was ignored, disbelieved or brushed under the carpet with little or no consequences to the perpetrator(s) sadly paedophilia still thrives and has gone further underground. It's perpetrators could come from any class or occupation. I was just reading yesterday of the current trial of Sir Ron Brierley an active paedophile at 85 ffs. they are everywhere. Increased vigilance, more transparency and education of minors is still required

to be fair,od, they've only had 12 months to prepare for it. pretty hard to do that from home when you don't have a clock on the wall and a great window view of the cbd.
