  1. Fair enough but you still need to ring them
  2. We're talking a couple of hundred bucks a year. Fact is that's not that much money these days. It's like going to the footy and foregoing your pie and soda and shunting that cash to the club. You might not like the idea but you probably don't like the idea of parting with your hard earned cash, which is fair enough. But 600 people at $240 a year is still $144,000. Again useful coin, easy to administer.
  3. Well you're probably a tight arse who needs to find another $120 a year. [censored], if you looked around whilst walking you'd find that on the ground inside 2 months. Now fork up or fork off
  4. Your right and you need to ring the club so they know the problem still exists. At the moment the club cannot afford to let anyone down or fail to fulfill pledges it makes. It would be very easy to send a standard reply thanking you for your time. I have emailed the club and did receive a quick, polite response. So don't winge here, ring them, they have to know and it's up to all of us to keep the accountable.
  5. At the moment with the club in the news and new members signing up it's the perfect time to introduce a scheme like this. Afetr the DDDinner all members and past members will receive a letter asking for an investment. This is the perfect time to offer such a scheme. The monthly amount could vary from as low as $5 a month (only $60 a year) upto $100 a month or even more. You could be offered the scheme for 1, 2, 5 10 or unlimited years, just tick the box and send to the club. I reckon you'd probably get around 2500 members signing up, with an average amount of say $20. That's $600,000 a year, dropping off to probably $150,000 after 5 years when the club willl hopefully be financially stable and successful on field. I for one would be in for $20 a month, so that's only 2499 members to go. I reckon it's a ripper of an idea and may well bring in in excess of $1.5 million over the next 3 - 4 years. Not bad coin.
  6. I'm thinking he'll be a better player than Ward, if not he's of no use to us.
  7. I think you're confusing Miller and Newton, at least I hope you are
  8. What's wrong with these people, we should look elsewhere (is there anywhere else?) and tell them to shove their fields up there arse
  9. If there's one thing that has been lacking at Melbourne it's real hunger. The kind of hunger that makes guys run the extra steps, lay the extra tackle, put in the sheperd when your knackered. If we are to ever have sucess again this needs to be instilled in each and every player. They need to start bleeding red and blue. They need to understand how importanr sucess is. Take a look at Geelong, I mean those guys would eat you for breakfast the're so hungry. It's starting to creep in at Melbourne. Miller shows it, Brock's hungry, Jones, Moloney, Garland, they're all looking hungry. This is good but we need more of them getting hungry. I want to see Melbourne teams run out on the park with that fierce look in their eyes. One that says to the opposition we're not part of that mediocre club anymore. It's dead and buried, we're the Demons and if you want to beat us your going to have to crawl over our dead bodies. I would love to watch us play like that. That would make me happy and it would silence the critics who for so long have sniggered at our mediocrity. It's time to become Demons in actions not just name. We can talk all we like about trades and drafts and players but it's the intangible qualities that make champions not how well they kick it.(although that helps) Watts or Rich - Who is the hungrier? That is the question we need to ask
  10. A bit harsh but yes it does need work. It's guys like Buckley who I suspect the coaches are pinning our future on. He will be shown how to step up, the rest is up to him. How much does he want it? Just ask Nathan Foley.
  11. If he's any good he won't come cheap. So in that case who do we trade for him? Wouldn't we be better off either targeting better players or sticking with the draft and train process that DB seems to like. I think what our team lacks are a couple of game breakers, elite players. The only way to get them is in the draft. Beggs the question we've all been working on, Watts, Rich or NNat? I'm currently leaning toward Rich. Gun midfielders win premierships, we don't have one.
  12. I'm starting to lean toward Rich. "Warnock wins the tap ripped out of the pack by Mclean, quick hands to Grimes, Grimes steps around Bartel gives by hand to Rich, one bounce runs to 50 and kicks a GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL . This kid is burning it UP!
  13. You know what. Filling out this list made me realise that we need some topline midfielders. Rich may well be our pick. I mean you've got the Brockinator, hopefully Grimes, Morton and then a string of unproven or dodgy skilled slowish players but no ELITE. Let's hope Grimes and Morton come on as expected. I'd say Bailey would be looking very closely at Rich. I think our back 6 are the strongest part of the team. I'm also reasonably confident about our forwards. The midfield needs to be better if we are going to win a flag, much, much better. Quicker, cleaner and meaner!!
  14. Could be but probably wouldn't be because he isn't any better than them
  15. Your kidding aren't you, is this the same guy that Paul Johnson ran down 2 weeks ago. Get back to reality. He's no speed demon.
  16. So does CJohnson, Petterd, Bell, Whelan, Frawley, Buckley, Green, Paul "the Pancake Maker" Wheatley, Bruce. I'd say we've got it covered. We need topliners, not another HBF
  17. I'd have to agree with RR on this. We really don't have a ruckman for the future, which is why RWarnock is a must get. I'd trade PJ in an instant for a late second round pick or a young player
  18. What a great idea, let's trade for yet another half back flanker. Guys who are not quite here or there so we play them on the HBF
  19. Mclean, Grimes, Morton, Primsall, Dunn
  20. You are quite amusing but you are an idiot!
  21. I'd suggest 3rd round pick for Warnock (either that or they get nothing) and Primsall in the PSD) EASY PEASY! That's called having your pie and eating it!!
  22. My prediction is a minimum of 33,000 members, possibly as high as 35,000 and a debt $3.5 million less than today. With a few years of lower than average player payments, improved form, tight fiscal controls and a couple more sponsors (bubble dome and Casey should really help here) we should be debt free by 2010, just in time for a serious crack at a flag. Gotta love optimism and the great Jimmy Stynes!!
  23. Is this a taboo topic or is none interested in talking Newton?
  24. Dude, of course you make alterations and improvements to the game plan and yes some of those will be in response to your playing group. But not to those players who lack the ability to play a particular way, you alter a game plan to suit elite players who can win games off their own boot. Big Difference.
  25. With full respect to Jeff as he has been a magnificent servant of the club, his time is up. One of the telling things for me is how long he takes to move it on these days. He usually misses the first and best option and then relies on a 15 metre sideways or backwards kick. Let's face it, he's not part of our long term future and Jamar is doing pretty well in his absence. Play him in the last round so we can give him a fitting send off. Put Yze, Carroll, Holland and McDonald in as well. All great servants of the Daniher era. I for one would be happy to go to the footy to cheer these guys off. Then we can continue the rebuild
