  1. B&f:Green Most Improved:Garland Best First year: Wona 09 Captain:Brad Miller Number 1 pick:Natanui, can we really pass on this guy? Retire:Neitz,Holland,Yze,McDonald,White Delistings:Carroll,Weetra,Robertson,Bode Trade:Green,Wheatley,Bell packaged up to Sydney for first round pick. This should stir the pot!
  2. It's a win allround. 1. Shows that finally the club is putting the team above the individual. 2. Club shows it's serious about changing the culture. 3. Davey and others will realise just how hard it is to be a leader at this club and how priveliged you are to be a part of the leadership group. This is a great move by the club. Alot has changed this year and I think the onfield turnaround will come sooner than many expect. Give this group a solid skills focused preseason and watch out!
  3. My guess would be Morton (clearly too good for VFL) and Frawley would come in. No exact replacement for Davey. Maric's form doesn't yet warrant senior selection. Bailey's forcing players to play continued good footy at Sandy before being selected, I doubt he's going to change that policy now.
  4. No point playing Yze, doesn't come close to fitting with new team style or ethos. He needs to retire. Maric, close but not quite. Needs more good games at Sandy. Petterd and Newton are close to getting named as emergencies but are probably 2-3 weeks of good form away
  5. So He played and the results were mixed. Took some good grabs, kicked poorly, failed to back into a player and spoil and was probably not hard enough at the ball. I would imagine the coaching staff would be working on 2 things. 1. His kicking. 2. His attack on the footy. It's like he doesn't realise that he's quite a big lad. He needs to be forced into some really strong competitive work at training and get used to slamming into blokes ala Nick Riewoldt. He has a fine mark and if he had the courage to leep into packs he could be quite damaging as a forward. He's going to take time so you all need to be patient and back him to suceed. Yelling out as some of you do at the footy that he's soft and a dud is probably not going to help.
  6. It appears his form over the last 2 weeks has been better. Is the hard line being taken by Bailey working? It appears so. Will he get recalled this week or does he need to perform well for 1 or 2 more weeks for Sandy? The coaches are going to have to give him some senior time soon if they intend perservering with him. Some attitude problems probably still exist so what to do??
  7. Complete Rubbish He's never coming back as a player to this club
  8. Although I've never been a big wrap for Newton I am hoping that for his and the club's sake Bailey can install the work ethic and commitment that he needs to take his game to another level. Watching the progress of several other youngsters I think Bailey can do it. Although he is going to need help from Newton himself. The next few weeks appear critical to "Operation Newton" If he can push his way into the seniors and show some grunt we may have found our CHF. Here's hoping.
  9. Palmer isn't as good as Morton will be. Yes he's had a great year but when you watch them play Morton has more footy smarts. His disposal will be fine and as he bulks up he'll surpass Palmer, who will also be a good player.
  10. Did NN play today and if so is he No. 1 More info on Watts. Does he have a bit of grunt. How quick. Kicking? Give me details!!
  11. Or you could look at it like this Warnock - Improving and learning, looks a likely type Garland - Giant steps this year. With continued hard work could well become a top liner Martin - Raw. Good size, appears mobile. Strong overhead - shows alot of promise for a young bigman Rivers - enough said Frawley - Too early to tell. Showed alot as a junior and will be given appropriate time to develop Miller - Slow developer but finally being played in position for extended period, Works as hard as anyone and has gone a long way this year to fulfilling his early promise. Definately a KPP for the club Newton - Finally being forced to pull his finger out and may yet use his talents to become a successful KPP Watts - Not yet recruited but looks a likely type So from this list, you would suggest that finally the Demons are on the right track.
  12. Alot of talk of Petterd and his ability. He hasn't played that much. Can someone fill me in on his ability and what the excitement is about.
  13. Sylvia's been injured for most of his time at the club. I'm not even sure that he's had a full preseason. His form under Bailey has improved as his groin has strenghthened. When he finishes playing out the year and does a full preseason he will show all the doubters what he is capable of. I for one will continue to back him as when you watch him closely you don't have to use luck to know that he is a very very good footballer. With the right coaching he will tear opposition defences apart and probably get some time in the midfield. Correct Bate isn't a CHF but Watts/Hurley is Miller's got full forward written all over him Garland, Warnock, Martin all look like KP prospects Don't forget Newton. I realise we should all have our doubts but if the weekends Sandy game is anything to go by DB is teaching this kid what it means to play AFL football for the new MFC. Then there's Rivers who still may comeback This doesn't appear to be too far off a spine. The best way to develop the team we need is a sprinkling of stars and alot of hard work and good coaching. I reckon this club is on the verge of something big
  14. It just might be that this club under the Yoda know how to train, improve and bring out the best in these talented players, ie Newton. Imagine an 18 year old Travis with a bit of DB time. I guess we'll never know
  15. We did his name was David Schwarz
  16. I would take that right now. Things are looking up
  17. Tell grandad there's plenty of room on the goodship Demon!! he should hop on now so he can say he was there when.....
  18. Because he is. Remeber he's been injured for most of his time at the club. Just because a gun doesn't work properly doesn't make it not a gun. If he can run out the year and do a full preseason he will start firing consistently and we will all go, Wow. he is a gun (please don't take this all too seriously, I've always been a Sylvia fan and I don't even like guns!!)
  19. He is a gun, you just can't see it, but you will.
  20. Although nervous he looks like a footballer. Solid first game and the way the coaches are going he could be very good in the future
  21. there is no way in the world we'll be trading Colin Sylvia. Period. He's a gun, he was a gun, he's a gun now and he'll be a gun in the future. He has been injured. You need to remember this. Maybe we need to start trading supporters!!
  22. You need to look closer at his game, get the DVD and watch carefully. He played great game today. Good individually and a great team performance - Just what DB would have wanted
  23. 16,000 and they were signing up members at a rapid pace. Really felt a great buzz today. To have a visible president amongst the crowd was great. We mightn't be the biggest supporter base but we're doing alright. When you look at the likes of Stynes, Bailey, Connolly, the new board, the players and of course all of us it makes you realise that it'll come good. In a way it took the club too long to admit to it's miriad of problems. Now that's been done when can get on with getting back to the top where we belong. Go you mighty Demons!!! P.S. Don't sweat on draft picks we'll get a gun, probably 2 so just let thimgs pan out. I'm feeling that the footy gods are swinging back our way. By the way, Jimmy's bringing the Demon back!!
