  1. Securing training facilities we probably can't afford and why wouldn't you want to move our footy dept back to the G where it belomgs Top notch self promoter who's ideas were to tie us to the elite who have never helped us and secure our next Kelvin Templeton $5 million debt is hardly an improved financial position I think you'll find our record membership came once Jim came on board
  2. Gutnick couldn't go to the footy on Sunday (orthodox Jew) so I very much doubt it was his idea
  3. I thought this was one of Gardiner's initiatives
  4. All fair enough and you make your point well unlike many other posters. However I think you way underestimate the integity of Jim Stynes. He has taken over a basket case that he loves and I very much doubt he would make any appointments that were based on just "friendship" Remember Connolly was already at the club. He has assembled a very capable bunch of directors with wide ranging business skills, all very capable people in their own right. I doubt any of them would be spending their free time helping Jim create some ego driven establishment for him and his mates. And also these mates of his are all very capable football people, not some bunch of hacks wanting a free lunch. I for one am backing Jim because I think so far he's done all the necessary things to start turning this club around. I will admit to being shocked at the last few day's events but I don't think McNamee was the right person in the current situation.
  5. No, they are paying $60 to be members of the soon to be greatest club on earth!!
  6. I doubt the MCG would be upgrading with second rate facilities. Or maybe they're getting the shipping container from the Junction Oval and putting it on Brunton Av
  7. Do Schwab's connections give us a link to Pavlich
  8. Please! We can't afford it
  9. This is the level playing field that all segments of the corporate world operate under. It sucks but it's the reality of the modern world. Suck blood from the poor and give it to the rich. It's always been this way. It's the unfortunate result of greed. That's why we have to be extra smart and one day stand on our own 2 feet
  10. What was Paul Gardiner thinking? When and how were we going to afford this? Drop the $250,000, strike a deal with the G and move on. Explain to those who donated that they can have the money back or invest it in a realistic and affordable future for the footy club. I doubt anyone would take it back. We could take the $500,000 each year pay the MCG a nominal amount and invest the rest in debt reduction and then some assets.
  11. Let's hope they give us 6 articles when something positive happens - I doubt it
  12. That's a pity, I think we should scrap it and move to the G
  13. Fair point and it'll be interesting how that plays out. I'm sure people would be happy to use that money to set up casey and to relieve some debt
  14. Can you liknk us to this article
  15. The new board is doing what should've been done years ago, getting back on side with the MCG, This is our only long term chance of thriving in the AFL. WE should play all our games there and several of our away games as well. Train at Gosch's, do the rest at our HOME - THE MCG! Great decision
  16. Basically, I don't think anyone thought of it. I think I recall reading that it would lower the break even crowd to around 16,ooo meaning we could make money from every game. It also improves the atmosphere of the match
  17. Yes but our entire football department will be based in the redeveloped Southern Stand, paying virtually no rent and having exclusive use. This is a good decision. Bubble dome was always a [censored] and should never have been part of our plans. It had ongoing costs in the vicinity of $500,000 per annum(don't quote me here, this is just what I heard) Jimmy is making our home the MCG. All games there, training that Gosch's Paddock, Gym at the G, Football dept. at the G. Closing off the top tier when we play low pulling teams, meaning we can make money each and every week. This is a watershed moment, albeit a little scary
  18. Wrong RR, Paul Gardiner re-signed Harris thae sacked him. Fact.
  19. Chris Connolly will never coach the MFC. That's about the one thing we can be sure about. If the new board had any misgivings about Bailey he'd already be gone. (He would never hang around if he didn't have the boards full support, he's a much better man than that) The man can coach and Stynes and Connolly Know that.
  20. J. Brown would be a disaster for this club. By the time we're any good he'll be about as useful as Kelvin Templeton was 25 years ago.
  21. This still worries me as Football Manager's need to be hard bastards
  22. Absolutely. I doubt Jimmy can move on matters MFC without the AFL being there. That my friends is where we are at! Can you feel that gloved hand? Cold isn't it
