Take it easy. I was just explaining the difference in 2 types of pressure.
-
I think Han was talking that hard finals type pressure rather than the "playing for my spot" type. 2 very different situations
-
If you look back at any of the premeirship sides of the last 10 years, they have all traded to win premeirships, whether it be for players or draft picks. If Hawthorn win a premeirship your first statement will also turn out to be wrong.

Before anyone else crawls out on the ledge

Oh no, not the merger, I was hoping to go it alone! -
Finals don't equal premierships, surely the last 21 years have proven that.
-
Surely the club should be doing everything possible to gather the best team possible. This will be the last uncomprimised draft for several years. We have some gaping holes that need filling. We need top draft picks. Green is the about the only pleyer, at an age that is right, we have who could snare us a first or high second round pick. We need these picks. You may well be happy making up the numbers in the finals I want a premiership, if that's the minority I'm more than happy in it!
-
That doesn't even equal a finals appearance let alone a premiership. Now tell me some real benefits, ones I care about.
-
Have to agree, he's a tad short, Oh, I mean slow.

My point with Miller is it can take time to develop players, Newton at 20-21 needs more time. If we junked every poor performing 20-21 yaer old at the club we'd have no future left. I understand that he appears to have issues regarding work ethic. These issues do need urgent attention and I'm sure the coaches will be working him very hard over summer. All I want for him is more time to develop as a player. I realise I'm probably dreaming re: Green and Wheatley. But if you rolled them up and traded them as one you might just get a first or high second round pick, which would be better than keeping them. Wheatley may be one of our better performed players this season, but he will never play in a premeirship side, PERIOD! As for Bell, the kid can play and we would probably get a high third round pick for him which I would take in a heartbeat.
-
Green is the only player of real value on our list and he's 27, meaning he's worth something right now, but in 4-5 years time when we're good again, he'll be past it. Now you explain the benefit of keeping him.
-
You are right Wheatley's kicking is an asset, to the opposition, as he turns it over so often it's like he's playing for them
-
Patience Grasshopper. Miller is just coming good He's still too tall and lanky. He'll grow into his body over the next 2-3 years and may turn out a decent player. We can afford to be patient with him. We have good coaches who are every chance to turn Newts into a solid contributor. No certainty but worth a shot wouldn't you think? For mine OUTS: Neitz, Yze, White, Whelan, Weetra, Holland, Bode TRADES: Wheatley, Bell, Green

Hamish Blake to 'spearhead' 2009 membership campaign

We have set a new record this year so I'm not sure what your point is -
Can't see the point in playing Holland or White Can't see the point in not playing Bate and Sylvia altough a run at Sandy may help
-
Not bad. I'm a big fan of col, but that looks alright
-
Difficult, we can't aford to pat him more than he's worth. Do we really know how much that is?
-
Exactly
-
Grant Thomas was two torn hamstrings from a premiership, maybe two premierships and a lot closer than we've been in my life. He is still mocked but he was bloody good and very passionate about what he did. Connolly will never coach MFC. Dean Bailey is twice the coach and Chris knows it.

No offence HT but I doubt very much whether we'll ever play a home game in Geelong. As for Canberra I don't think it's part of Jim's vision. Casey would be great but I'm starting to think that that's probably a pipe dream, albeit a good one. I for one would love to head down there for one game a year and watch us roll some shabby interstate side. If I had to vote because you were really big and twisting my arm, I'd vote for Canberra so I could travel somewhere worth visiting!

I think Jimmy's made it pretty clear that we'll be playing at the G. The G's our home and playing all around the country is never going to give us long term stability or generate new paid up members. Get all our games at the G and some of our away games , close the top deck and watch the dolloars roll in.

If this is true, I'll take Watts, Rich must still be a chance, as is NN

QUOTE(Hazyshadeofgrinter @ Jul 24 2008, 05:33 PM) Some of you seem to think that being a good footy player makes you a good footy manager. Perhaps Jim shares this view and this might provide an alternative explanation for what otherwise looks like an alarming slide into back room deals, jobs for the boys and ego-driven management. Others of us have not been blinded by the glint of a Brownlow medal and we will rightly feel at least as wary about the current administration as we did about their predecessors. Personally, I'd call this an attack on the man's integrity. I'm happy for you to call it what you will
-
Fair point but when people attack the integrity of Jim Stynes I'll attack back whether they barrack for Melbourne or not.

1.What makes you think the facilties at the MCG would be inferior to those at the soccer/rugby stadium being built over the road fom the HOME ground of the MFC? Having the footy dept back at the MCG saves us alot of money, is still close to Gosch's Paddock and ties us back to our home and surely that's the best identity for us. We would be the only club that would have such facilities at the MCG. 2.Not EGO, well maybe McNamee's, but he was sacked because he didn't share the same vision as the new board. If chasing JBrown and tieing us to the dwindling, unhelpful elite is his key plank then I for one am glad he's gone. 3. They wiped $3 million of the debt. If you compare that to the economic performance of any other club in the competition over the same period I think you'll find we're last on that ladder as well. Hardly an achievement to hang your hat on. 4. Over 2500 new members since Stynes arrived, almost 10% of our membership, not a few hundred as you suggest. 5. Absolutely it is. Just look at Norm Smith for an example of how important it is to bleed for your club. Never talk this down even from your obviously lofty perch. Doing so shows you lack the understanding of what it is to be truly passionate about something. The only way this club is going to thrive is if everyone becomes or is already passionate about it. 6.What a load of absolute crap. Get over this stereotype, it's [censored].
