Is this the last roll of the dice? We have to back Stynes and his decision but one more mistake of such epic proportions and we could be finished. The decision just made is probably for the best but at what cost? How many wallets just closed, how many sponsors just had a second thought, what is the actual cost of sacking Harris, McNamee and a host of other staff. What financial cost? What cost to our already tattered image? What cost to the pysche of the coaches and players? How many more times are we going to have to watch our club do this? I hope whoever comes next is announced soon and I hope the AFL has it's grubby hands away from our club. But they won't, for the moment we're fu--ed and the AFL know's it. I doubt we can sneeze without AFL permission. Unless we raise some serious cash next month I'm not sure where the money's going to come from to keep this club afloat. I think that's why today's announcement, although probably in our best interests in the long term, may have stuffed us in the short term. And that stuffing may mean we don't have a long term to be excited about. The reason our wealthy supporters don't give money is because of the way the club is run. On the surface this is going to look like another disaster at Demon land and another reason to leave the wallet closed. Debt Demolition Month just got a whole lot harder and a whole lot more important. Jimmy needs to talk and talk quick if we're going to get those wallets open again. Holy [censored] folks this is serious. The axe is swinging and the AFL is swinging it.

Check your facts Big Fella. PG did re sign Harris at the beginning of this year.
-
Reported where?
-
You seem distressed DD. Thank Paul Gardiner for that. Firstly he resigned Harris and then sacked him costing us alot, then he ignored advice and hired McNamee, costing us a small fortune. Debt Demolition Month just got alot harder

God is helping and that's why Stynes is in and McNamee is out
-
Lighten up Couga. What Stynes is doing as the blessing of the AFL. There is no way he could do otherwise and expect anymore assistance. Stynes is working tirelessly to turn this club around and that involves ridding us of McNamee. He wasn't from all reports the first choice CEO, but Gardner selected him. He's gone and now so has McNamee. Gutsy work by Stynes and I think you'll find this all turns out for the best. Keep the faith, the club's in the best hands it's been in for a long long time
-
Let's hope he doesn't take this long!
-
I'm not saying he had no clues but it is fact that his biggest strenght is self promotion. What I am saying is that whilst you go on about governance Jimmy is making the hard decisions necessary to sort out this club.
-
Jeez you waffle on. What do you want from the club. Do you think you should be voting on the new CEO. Stynes has taken over and has invigorated the club more in his short time that any president since the 50's if not ever. He does not think McNamee is upto the job and he's not the only one here to think that. So he's getting rid of him, Good decision from where I sit. I think you'll find that not only is a replacement already organised but that having McNamee in place may well have been keeping others out, both sponsors and key people. Let's see what happens next but I'll bet you it's well and truly in the interests of the club and it's supporters.

Richmond have long been a basket case and to some extent still are. Maybe it's your friends who weren't upto it. No offence is meant here just pointing out that friendship will usually cloud your judgement
-
He does seem to be judged very harshly. Let's face it he's a tall lanky boy playing a man's game. He'll need time and I for one reckon he should be given at least 50 - 70 games to show us what he's got. His attitude does seem to be of concern but experience will help. he still needs to learn to apply himself 100% during games.
-
Or no CEO at all, Now that would be a first!
-
We have no choice but to persist with Newton. As a tall marking forward we need to give him a chance, certainly more than 2 or 3 games. bell was ok last week and it would be unfair to drop him. However I like your ins and feel both these guys are a part of the club's future
-
Totally agree. They also appear capable of keeping the media out until the last minute which is great. Sheahan may have broken yesterday but he had zero details. I'd be surprised if Jimmy didn't have a replacement organised before he ousted McNamee. We should all have an answer very soon. S- -t-a=BI l i-- t y appears difficult but i feel it's coming and coming in a big way. Get the right people in for the long haul.
-
It's a bold move by the club and I give them full support. MaNamee was a risk who was employed by the outgoing president. Jim is well with in his rights to employ the people he believes are best served to help the club. If the AFL are going to assist with Schwab then all the better. The club is not settling for mediocrity anymore, this is a good decision. I am not criticising McNamee but he's not a football person and we need some0one who is and can work closely with the AFL. Schwab is blikely to provide both these things. Although the turbulence and bad publicity is not helping it's inevitable as we wrestle with our many Demons (excuse the pun) Let's hope the transition is done quickly and we can get on with DD month.
-
Why get rid of Warnock, he's done pretty well lately. he should continue to improve
-
Wheatley is no good, clearly not in our best 22
-
Yes I'd say you're right, it could well just be the Herald Sun being the HS. Loose with the facts and tight on the drama.
-
The State Govt won't scuttle it if the local council has followed appropriate protocol which from all reports they have. I'd say it's a matter of a clash of ego's with Bradford the problem.
-
I doubt the state government will scuttle the plan. It's a local council issue with the majority of councillors in favour. Is this guy really a Demon supporter?? Here's hoping, as that's all we can do, that the plan passes council on Aug 5 and we can start smoozing the locals.
-
Sounds like he might know what he's doing. With regard to salary cap issues are we saying that was all his idea. I think you'll find dirt on the hands of the board members at the time. Were they the same board who tried to merge us? Anyway, let's not go back there. I'm all for Schwab joining the team but wouldn't mind keeping McNamee on. He has some flair and knows the business's that sponsor sport so he may well be useful.
-
Cale will pick himself in a year or two(less, most likely) and along with Grimes he will give us the drive and polish from the midfield that we sorely lack, and quite frankly anyone bagging him should go and watch other 18 year olds play and note how far in front of almost all of them Cale is. He is going to be a very, very good footballer
-
Harsh on Davey, with his role it's almost impossible to look good when you're getting floggrd week in week out. He's easily in our best 22.
-
I'll back Stynes and co. on this. If Schwab's better than McNamee or there is a role for him at the club bring him in. Good people are hard to find so when there's a chance to grab them you grab them. If McNamee's struggling then he need's help (or a different job)
