  1. It makes you wonder what we've been upto at times.
  2. Brock Mclean The likes of Green, Bruce and Wheatley have never shown any real leadership qualities in all their time at the club so what makes you think any of our young players look up to them. The fact is had they been traded 2-3 years ago as many suggested this club would be further advanced towards success than it is now. Instead we're left with the shattered remnants of past failures.
  3. Don't be, we're going to trade him for some young talent who can play for the MFC in a premiership.
  4. $1.5 mill over 4 years - leave him to Carlton
  5. Simmonds and Sandilands are ruckmen not KPP, leaving only 6. Out of the rest I'd take Croad and Mcfarlane before all except Pav. I'd hardly call Connolly an imbecile for such a recruiting move.
  6. Croad and Mcfarlane are well worth those 2 picks, at the time freo had enough running players and needed to shore up the big man stocks. The fact that Croad went to water away from home is hard to blame on anyone besides Croad himself. Connolly won't be the last to trade the no. 1 pick.
  7. Good to read the appraisal of Grimes whilst the comment about Morton doing well in uncontested football seems strange as the best teams all play hard contested footy.
  8. Fair point. Altough my point is that a 28 year old Crawford is superior to a 27 Green and was never going to be traded by Hawthorn. Green has has a good year, no doubt, and thus his stocks have risen. This is a strong draft and I believe it would be a great decision to use one of our players to get another first round pick. Green plus another pick or a player such as Bell may get us that pick. No they kept him because he's a club champion and a great leader, not to mention at 28 one of the games elite runners with an engine as big as his heart. In your opinion Green might be better than an average HBF but he's not in the same realm as Shane Crawford at the same age. Take a look at yesterdays game for more proof of his worth. As for Green, as someone else alluded to - He goes missing when it really matters (along with Bruce, Wheatley and a few others who have finally been cut!) - please don't mention the 2000 finals as the end result was plain embarrasement for this club.
  9. Shane Crawford is a is a brownlow winning midfielder not an average half bank flanker - Big difference
  10. Actually BB if that was the case we'd have picks 1 and 2 this year as we won 5 last year and 3 this, you can't win more than 4 games in one year to get the priority.
  11. Who will be better than Buddy?
  12. Signing Green for 3 years says to me that the club can't afford to make the tough decisions. 3 years for an average 27 year old is just plain stupid. My worry is that Connolly isn't tough enough to make the good decisions. Green, Bruce, Wheatley will all feature in our sad B&F but they'll never feature in a premeirship and until the club is prepared to offload these types of players this club will go nowhere. If Green becomes Captain it will simply show the football world that MFC are no Demons and no wonder the past admin dropped the name. I really thought we'd play hardball but np, still letting ageing ordinary footballers dictate terms to this struggling club. You would of thought that after watching us get beaten up in the 2000 Grand Final things wouldh've changed, instead we drifted all the way to the bottom, the very bottom. How much clearer does the club need to see it. We are the weakest team in the league and it will stay that way until someone makes the hard calls. Please don't reply that Green is a great playerand a worthy captain because he's an average to good player and a long way from the sort of captain we need right now. Again think Hodge, think Brock - TOUGH
  13. Add one Cam Bruce to the Brad Green deal and you achieve 4 things 1. You rid the club of two older players worth something who will never be part of an MFC premiership 2. You virtually end the connection with the previous game plan - which i'm afraid failed 3. You show the club is no longer taking the easy road to mediocrity 4. You potentially have the only trade this club can do for a top 10 pick Plus Wheatley and Bell to Adelaide for whatever we can get. We draft some nasty motherfu--ers who can fly our tattered flag Brock makes captain- tough, passionate, proud, determined, fierce, puts his money where his heart is THAT'S A CAPTAIN! If Green stays and is made captain we are going nowhere. He has had a good year but he's not a captains little finger. Think Hodge Think Judd, you have my point! We need some big bodies to match it with the best.
  14. One of the reasons we finished bottom is that players such as Wheatley are guaranteed games. He's border line VFL in middle of the road teams and is playing VFL for the Cats and the Hawks. I'd be surprised if an average MFC footballer who picks up outside possesions on the bank flank/wing, turns the 55 metre kick over to the opposition, who then run and carry the ball past him and score another goal from a MFC turnover. I'm not sure where the respect comes from. As far as losing contests, What contest. He's an outside player who like so much of our team is found missing when the heat is on. It really is time we stopped playing these kinds of players and developed a ruthless list of players who don't shirk an issue and who can deliver the ball cleanly. He's not underrated he's overrated. Trade him! No offence to Paul is meant here, for his standard he's had a good season but we're gone until we have 22 players better than Paul Wheatley.
  15. FB:Petterd Warnock Rivers HB: Buckley Martin Frawley C: Morton Mclean Grimes HF: RECRUIT RECRUIT Bate FF: Davey Miller Maric R: RECRUIT RECRUIT RECRUIT INT: Wonaemirri Sylvia PJohnson RECRUIT EM: Jones Moloney Dunn RECRUIT RECRUIT includes players such as Cheney and McNamara who may or may not come along It also relies on injured players coming good and some development time.
  16. For [censored]'s sake, he's played seasons 2007 and 08 for the MFC as a 19 and 20 year old underdeveloped backmen. Quite simply he's had a tough gig. He'll develop just fine. He's got a brain and he shows some dash. I'd say every listed player has been a liability at times over the last 2 seasons. For mine he'll develop over the next 2-3 years as his body fills out and he becomes part of a "team" as opposed to the rabble he's been playing with the last 2 years. Much like most of our list.
  17. Are we getting ahead of ourselves?
  18. Sounds like Warnock 12 months ago but he's already ours.
  19. Having never seen Spencer play, what's he like? Is it likely he'll be a top line ruckmen?
  20. You pursue Judd because he's a gun player, a born leader, a once in a decade midfielder, a marketer's dream. Everything that this club lacks all rolled into one. Do you understand now?
  21. Question 1. Mo, when you are at the footy do you spend a significant time feeling frustrated and angry about the club and the way it plays? Q2. Does the club give you any enjoyment and if so in what areas. Q3. Have you ever considered 1. changing your attitude and getting behind your club or 2.barracking for another club Sure it's rough at the moment, in fact it's generally rough being a Demon supporter, but to blame the current coaches and admin is laughable it's so ridiculous.
  22. We have some talented youngsters, absolutely. But the size and experience of them will keep us at or close to the bottom for another year. Players like Morton, Grimes, Garland, Petterd all need to bulk up. Our midfield needs some pace and class. Our forward line needs a general. I'm confident we're on the right track but next year will probably be much like this year except I think we'll be more competitive in more games. Personally a priority pick if gained without tanking ala Carlton isn't so bad. Hell, we would have earned it!
  23. Fingers crossed the club's new coaching staff and admin have a better sense of our players worth than the last lot. Yze and White on over $1 million. Oh dear God who's idea was that?
  24. Which 4 clubs are going to be worse than us next year? I can see a priority 1st round pick on the horizon and then gradual improvement before finally a premiership.
  25. This would have to be the most ridiculous thing I've read on this site. Apologies to YM as I know he covets that honour.
