  1. So we may as well keep Freo happy, give them pick 1, get Warnock and Watts, keep the PSD for Primsall
  2. What was it like over at Olympic Park, many people?
  3. One word: PASSION It's been one hell of a year!! Thanks to Jim Stynes and this new administration we've got some good ones coming
  4. The club's raised almost $3 million dollars in one month and finished just shy of 30,000 members. As an MCC member I "donate/invest" in the club by spending another $150 on an MFC membership that I never use, I also sign my son up and my partner(who comes to 2 or 3 games a year in the members. That's over $300 that I give the club every year. As it turns out I also donated to DD but many others would see their memberships as "donations/investments". So think before you call people pathetic because everyone's situation is different, and considering the position of the club everyone has done their bit, some by signing up memberships, some by donating, some by going week in week out and some by doing all of the above. What's pathetic is use of the word to label those who have sighned up to a club that has done little to galvanise it's supporters for so long. Unity and understanding is essential in these difficult but exciting times.
  5. It's certainly the most significant and positive off field period I have witnessed at this club. Huge and dramatic shifts and I really feel that it was partly sparked by the club's 150th dinner and the goodwill and unity that flowed from this.
  6. That's great to hear. Cheers.
  7. We'll on only be paying 90 - 92.5% of the salary cap instead of 100%. That should save us around $750,000. Add a couple of new sponsors which I'm sure the new admin will attract plus the imminent return of one Joe Gutnick and I'd suggest a modest profit's on the way!
  8. I can understand your point but as Bailey himself has explained we are young and learning. Getting it and kicking it ala Wheatley, invariably sees the footy back over your head with renewed vigour as seen virtually everytime this happens. All the sideways stuff is happening for several reasons. 1. The players skills aren't yet sharp enough. 2. Quite a few of our players aren't good enough and will be cleaned out over the next few years. 3. Total lack of player confidence. 4. Bodies aren't big or strong enough. Bailey is putting a game plan in place that starts with a sound defence and requires good skills by hand and foot. The handballs and sideways stuff happens because we are constantly caught out of position and thus rush to move the ball on. This happens to all young and inexperienced sides. As we get better we'll be able to absorb more pressure(Grimes, Mclean) and the sideways stuff will end up in space(Morton, Petterd)) and we will kick it forward(Watts, Sylvia)) ala Geelong. From the backline it might read Warnock spoils, Grimes grabs it in congestion, shoots a handball sideways to Garland, short kick to space where Morton takes it, has a bounce on defensive 50 Members side of the ground, Morton looks looks up and Kicks the ball to Petterd running through the centre, Petterd spills the mark players converge, Mclean wins the hard ball hands back to Petterd, under pressure goes back to Buckley, he steps inside Bartel kicks across the centre to Grimes, he takes off, moves inside Ling, kicks the ball inside 50 to the leading Watts who lays it off to Davey, GOAL! What I'm trying to say is that once execution improves and we get stronger and some of our young talent matures we'll be watching some great footy, even if the odd mark gets spilled. All teams are shite at this stage of development. It looks worse than it is. Forget the Port Adelaide and Geelong games, this season's dead and the players know it. Richmond will probably [censored] us too. Then we'll draft some serious talent, train hard over summer and over the next 2-3 years we'll see some good footy, hopefully we'll see some excellent footy.
  9. Are we not still waiting for the council to give us the final green light to Casey. Isn't there a recission order on the last proposal. I think it's going to a final vote in November. Can't have the club announce something that's not a done deal.
  10. Because he'll be an onballer with good skills and some pace and grunt as opposed to a tall lanky guy who's a few years away. So leave your smiles off until you make a valid point
  11. 12. Give what a shake, "Rebuild complete"! OH gOLLY Gosh I've read some rubbish but this takes the cake.

    Brad Green

Given that from all reports (incl. today's Age) the quality of our new administration is the best it's been for a long long time I'd doubt very much whether Brad Green will be receiving a large salary. He's an average to good older player in a young starting out side. He'll be the wrong side of 30 when we start to compete again. I'd rate his year's previous to this as fairly Melbourne like of those times. Meaning good at times but when it really really mattered, we lost! and often badly. Surely at the moment a top 20 pick would see him out the door. I'm no hard arse but this club needs to stop accepting mediocrity. I just want to see them win a flag. That's not going to happen unless the club makes some smart and calculating calls. A good call is another top 20 draft pick. Brad Green may just give us that.
  14. And these others would be? If he'd been taken at pick 60 you'd admire his ability to continue to work through his physical problems. I'm a fan. He's one full preseason away from silencing his many critics

    Brad Green

Trade him for low first high second any day of the week. He'll be 32-33 and sitting on a beach when we're seriously good again, a good draft pick will be 22-23 and of far more value. Wake up people. We have almost as many holes as a golf course and we need to draft to fill them.
  16. Having dreams like that means you've got a life!!
  17. ?? Couldn't help myself!! Stay the course, I think we'll find he'll turn out very well. It's going to take time. Do we have that time? Yes.
  18. Gold
  19. I understand people's reservations with Schwab. But do you think Jim and the new board would employ him if he wasn't the right man for the job?
  20. Let the love roll on!!
  21. Changes of board's, CEO's and Presidents will do that. I think they call it instability. Having said that I'd say we might just be on the right track.
  22. Didn't see that as a clanger. I was at the game with an essendon supporter and we laughed at the decision. We thought Monfries was getting into the olympic spirit with a fautless dive. Gutless umpiring, shouldh've been play on. I don't remember a game where the umpires helped switch the momentum away from us more clearly than Saturday's. And while I'm here why the f--k was it an essendon home game. The AFL are insane. I mean they finally play us on Saturday and we don't get the gate, as a currently poor club he was an easy way to pump some money into our coffers.
  23. This has been discussed on here before. It's a great idea. It has been reported that they are holding regular discussions with the MCG so I was surprised Caroline didn't ask Jim about it, as it's very relevant in relation to bubble dome. I reckon Jim's plan is to move the football dept. back to the MCG, train at Gosch's and occasionally on the hallowed turf. Along with Casey we'd be seen to be moving "Home" and joining a community I wonder what the time frame on the Southern Stand Redevelopment is? He's doing good the Bigfella!
  24. It's great stuff!
  25. Although I'd normally agree with you, at the moment we need all the positive news we can get, just might make a few hands dig deeper into pockets this month. If he can have another great game this year he'll be there.
