  1. Your inner monologue is typing..
  2. The only people I want to hear from are those with a knowledge of the main charge and what it means. It seems to me that the charge equates with the "Intentionally Cause Serious Injury" down here?
  3. Unless you have a working knoweldge of NT statute, then yes you speculating. And no other person on the list has been charged with this offence either. There are a number of possible explanations for this but all are speculation and at this stage it is a pointless excercise. I'm inclined to agree with JCB and I can't see the value in these threads continuing until new information emerges.
  4. Have been with the chunk all the way as well. Was taking too much upon himself when he thought he had to. Not only is he hard but he is durable and gives a solid even effort. I predict that this guy will retire as one of the most loved players of this dees era.
  5. No sky is not falling in, but braced for bad news, which is the opposite of good news, read the words on the page not in your head. And I don't appreciate the sad brasstuds that think this is funny.
  6. Despite not knowing all the facts, a combination of the words Jurrah, head injuries, machete and custody have me braced for bad news. I find those comments making light of all this disgraceful.
  7. If Jack was a seasoned veteran and was being "selective" in his efforts and was working his way into it for the real season there would be no concerns, but he is not. He is a kid who needs to pull out all stops to impress the coach so he can play round one.
  8. The irony is that if Jack hits form when the real season gets underway some will claim that the comments have had the desired effect.
  9. I don't think there is hysteria from the couple of people in the media that have expressed a couple of sentences of opinion. Rather it's the "outrage" expressed by some hyper-sensitive supporters that makes the issue bigger that what it is.
  10. I didn't see anything wrong with it either, it wasn't personal, he expressed an opinion and was fairly measured. Do we need a new thread?
  11. I agree with all of what you say, the big question is how to get him to get achieve it? Gifting him, or any other 20 year old games is not the answer.
  12. The stats themselves are an indicator, but i think most people agree that Jack has a long way to go to reach his ceiling. In essence all of us Dees people want to see that happen.
  13. I really couldn't give a stuff about the other bloke, I would like to see Jack Watts get the best out of himself though.
  14. We would all like him to be but he isn't right at this time. He is a 20 year old key position player who needed to show some form in the pre-season to win over the coaching staff, just like all the other young players on the list. At this time I dont think he will have done enough but he has another game to show some form. There are a number of 19, 20 and 21 year olds in the same boat.
  15. Just an update for those who showed an interest in young Jack. He has left our family and has gone into permanent care with a terrific family.....of Geelong supporters. As a result I have to back off my indoctrination plan, as obviously there are bigger things than footy. He was with us for nearly 2 years. It is great for him to settle permanently and we said our goodbyes to him and we plan to keep in touch with him. He is a great little fella and is doing really well with his new mum and dad.
  16. How GOOD is it to be able to talk about footy again!
  17. I think there are some that miss the point on the whole Watts saga. For me it isn't a simple case of "she'll be right". Steps need to be taken to make sure that he becomes the best player he can be. I don't think many can argue that he needs to work on his game. I have my own ideas, if you don't care stop reading now. 1. Watts has a hyper-awareness to the situation around him. He is distracted and too wary of the players around him, be it it team-mates or opposition. It causes him to lose focus on the footy. Watch his eyes and head as he approaches a contest. If you have a limited focus on the footy you are not going to get where it is or get it in your hands too often. Think Justin Koscitzke, he is the opposite. His awareness can obviously be one of his great strengths, it needs to be honed. 2. When Watts was dropped last year he came back and played some good footy, he flew for his marks and showed intent on the footy most of the time. It shows that he is capable of changing his mind-set but at the moment he has reverted. There needs to be a plan put in place for him to bring his "A" game to every game of footy he plays or we are hindering his "development". 3. He is a kid, forget his draft position. He has not earned his stripes and will not get selected automatically and needs to perform in these pre-season games to be selected in Round 1, just like all the other "kids".
  18. Oxford def noun 1. a group of people considered to be superior in a particular society or organization:
  19. Missed the comments from Matthews. There is a thread on this, may I propose a merger..
  20. Being objective and not emotive about this subject if Neeld is fair dinkum about his "even keel" philosophy then as it stands now then surely Watts doesn't play round 1, nor do I think he should. If anyone replies to this using the words "bashing" or "writing off" I will I dunno, probably get annoyed.
  21. Will be playing at Casey until he again begins to will himself to get where the ball is, instead of running in circles around it. He can make the mental adjustment, he did it last year after getting a kick in the fleshy bit. It's disappointing to see things travelling down the same road again.
  22. Regardless of the result it was fascinating seeing the results of obviously a big effort to improve our footy in the clinches. Not just the extra big bodies but the processes, the quick thinking and the support that the ball carrier got. A lot of work still needs to be done in our often clumsy run out of defence. Great to see the development in Jones. Have been saying for a long time that once he gets the required support he would become an excellent mid. No longer does he feel the need to bust through 3 tackles and pinpoint a 50 metre pass to the centre of the ground.
