  1. Would you like a Strauss or a Blease with that?
  2. If getting Higgins has cost Greenwood then on the face of it that is some stupid list management.
  3. The funny thing...the club by not agreeing to a trade for Ryder will end up forcing him to use the get out and he could potentially walk for nothing. And others may follow.
  4. You have illustrated the point really well. Most players in that list drafted recently haven't performed consistently at senior level. He is by no means a complete player yet. The kid will take time and people need to be comfortable with this. I am sure the club is.
  5. Billy looks lively but I think a mid/ late second round was about right. Can't see him playing much senior footy next season. He has great endurance, works hard and is of good character so he will give himself every chance at being a senior AFL player, but will clearly need time.
  6. This is good news. Now can we make it work to our advantage.
  7. My gut feel is that we have nothing to lose throwing the big bucks at him. We can play a part in pushing his price up and we are in a good position to catch the ones that fall out of the bucket. We do have a strong SA flavour to our club which is even stronger with our appointment of Goodwin.
  8. Now would be a good time to announce pick 3.
  9. I have posted previously and it has been corroborated by others that there is a rumour emanating out of Dangerfield's home town that the $ offered by Adelaide have been unsatisfactory. The manager is doing his job of trying to extract as much $ as he can by investigating and reporting his value. I suspect that AFC may in fact be having some issues being able to retain all of it's required players whilst balancing the books.
  10. Watching some of the old games on youtube in 1987 featuring Robbie I was remininscing about three of our emerging great players at that time Viney, Stretch and Lovett. Wouldn't it be romantic if the same names were pushing the club towards the top in the latter part of this decade.
  11. Spot on. He speaks honestly and from the heart, it won't always hit the mark and maybe to some he sounds ridiculous. I suspect most of us would sound ridiculous if we spoke all of what we felt. I look forward to meeting the bloke.
  12. Nothing you have said in that post has been proven right. And your comment earlier was a disgrace.
  13. Adelaide clearly have a cap problem and they are hoping their loyal clubman can take one for the team. They haven't tabled an offer because Connors has told them to rethink their offers and let him know when they are fair dinkum.
  14. Was driving home, could barely see the road
  15. Anyone who suggests Bontempelli or Liberatore as part of a trade is on very bad or very good drugs, depending on what side of the fence you are on.
  16. Roos made it pretty clear that he planned to stop us leaking goals. And to an extent he managed to achieve that. He also had to operate with a third world forward line. Players couldn't go forward with any confidence whatsoever. Roos game plan is incremental. With a list that was both decimated and poor he did ok with increment 1. The footy isn't sexy but it is hard nosed and honest (most of the time). We are still paying for the years when the wrong type of footballer was recruited to play the wrong type of football and this will take a lot to correct. We had a chance and unfortunately we [censored] it away. We simply do not have a list that is yet capable of playing the sexy footy that P.A play yet.
  17. I'm pretty gruntled. Roos gives every sense that he is putting every effort into what he is doing. He has a plan and the conviction to stick to it. He considers every decision and every word. He has purpose. He also has a lot of credibility I look forward to seeing where he takes us.
  18. The info I have is that this was never seriously considered as an option by other clubs. The leaks have been coming via Dangerfield's management who believe that Adelaide is ridiculously undervaluing Dangerfield's value.
  19. I remember a couple of times when he'd lose one of his contact lenses and have to search around in the grass.
  20. I think we need to escape this mindset. I understand the grief and I say this with the utmost respect. We are a far greater club for having this man grace the G in our colours.
  21. Like so many here this man was my childhood hero. Number 2 was on my very first Melbourne jumper. My dad just referred to him as "the champ" I met him when I became an adult and he was a true gentleman.
  22. If the information is correct, it can only be the great man. Hoping it is a mistake.
  23. Just tell me what we are getting. Nothing else concerns me anymore.
