  1. As others have said, it is quick controlled ball movement. If you are moving the ball with little contest, your side looks quicker than the opposition as they are chasing trying to cover positions. Leg speed allows you too close or break from a contest. Skills to efficiently move the ball quickly is better than outright speed across a whole team. (Yes you seem speedsters mixed in) A game plan where everyone knows where the ball is going to go, really helps too, as they can move to position before the opposition know.
  2. Watching this year, a dominant centre ruckman has not had the same impact across most clubs (Another connection we need to fix) compared to previous years. But they ruckman get banged up pretty bad, the shorter breaks may be a factor in their decline in impact. GWS seems the obvious suitor as they need a semi decent ruck, as their two have really failed this year. Happy to keep him, but suited only to rucking on the field. I guess they see Tomlinson as a possible backup since he hasn't flourished on the wing. Or we can pluck a mature age one from a league somewhere with a late pick.
  3. Never met her in person based I what I have seen on tv/media (Limited), her insights during games on tv, leadership for the women and her interviews, i would rate her highly.
  4. As long as we are learning and improving faster than other teams...
  5. Recruited later than most, obviously took time to mature and work out how to be successful at AFL. I gather some of that development happened at Subi. has they tend to have a mature side compared to other wafl clubs.
  6. Gee they are good at smothering.
  7. Been for a swim in Antarctica in my boardies, does that count? Felt pretty warm when I got out of the water :)
  8. that's what they said, dropping later. just need to fix up their fwd 50
  9. positive start by dockers, dogs look a bit nervous.
  10. Why are they losing their forwards! He does get in Hogan's way a lot.
  11. We have simply dropped the intensity and thought it was game over...
  12. Dont see any value in Saad... no upgrade on what we have
  13. less likely, the quarters are much shorter, less scoring time and less likely for a blow out :)
  14. If we win today, Freo can get it done. They have have played good footy this year and are getting better. If we win Dogs will free more pressure to win and that "may" lead to more errors etc. Anyway, we need tow in today first before thats become relevant.
  15. Yes, the concern is on field leaders are not doing that. Hence our problem of controlling games and making adjustments without the coach.
  16. Being active is good. The concern is that he has to give basic positional direction to professional footballers to that degree.
  17. The amount of coaching Goodwin was doing from the bench at the end of the GSW games, indicated to me that the players are not able to make them themselves on the field. From what I could tell from the tv he was having to direct players to positioning etc. Lack of a true leadership to organise the troops during games. Hence why they can't stop run on's.
  18. That is true as well...
  19. Not a sling, it looks like simple momentum carrying them both forward, and the swan hit his head.
  20. After this year, I was thinking 17 rounds (all play each other once) and then the remains rounds can be matching teams for the finals run home to get rid of the "dead" rudder games. It's been proven this year that a floating fixture can work. Plus the qtr's for need to be longer. Notice they have snuck in a "night" GF this year too.
  21. Might be time to let that one go... Been far more stuff ups then you can focus on.
  22. From the headline I thought they may have again mailed out in advance information for finals tickets for 2020, like in 2017.
  23. Isn't he being groomed to take over from Clarkson?
  24. All over the ground Freo had a clear system and positioning to receive the ball and clear to a player wide. We don't. They have been taught that in one preseason from a new coach. Freo far better than us, though we played pretty dumb footy for a rainy night. Int he wet, hold position and kick it long and then repeat until you have it in a threatening position. Its like our players are a week behind in making a decision on how to play. What is worrying was the 3/4 comment from Goodwin, they defend hard then be brave moving ti forward. We didn't, there was no dash, not bravery, just kick up the line. It wasn't until it was too late they turned up the pressure, like against the swans last week and go the same result. The player in the west was Salem, good clean hands all night even with a "soapy" ball. Oliver was one of the worst, needed to go put a glove on. Trac, tried to be everywhere and help and that hurt his game, he needed to sit 30 to 70 out from goal and control that space, esp one out. At least i didn't put money on them to win, like some people at work
  25. Because he's not the coach anymore but still getting paid
