  1. Here is an idea I posted today on another thread FYI. "I know this is pie in the sky, but if every member pledged $100 to be paid before say the Grand Final we would wipe off $3million from our debt. That is less than a cup of coffee per week or a sunday paper over a year. I know it is still a lot for many members. Combined with the planned large donor event on August 5 the debt would be wiped out this year. That would mean half a million extra to the bottom line next year as there would be no interest to be paid on the debt. Together with new facilities and venues and recruits we would be off and running with hopefully no more talk of our lack of branding or belonging. Demetriou would then have to turn on another club. "

  3. To give credit where it is due, Fan has been a big supporter of CG from the beginning. He said he would need time to adjust as he had not played a lot of junior footy.
  4. You have hit the nail on the head. Careers are made by giving players a decent go on the ground and reinforcing to them that they are good enough and belong in the side. Then the rest is up to them.
  5. Lade is 32 and Brogan will be 30 at end of the year.
  6. Amen.
  7. I don't follow. I meant if you wanted to get him it would be easier if the Saints were winning without him. You have highlighted Port and I don't know why?
  8. Given their ageing rucks maybe a former adelaide boy would be required as well. That could make a nice package in exchange for a pick.
  9. Wouldn't you barrack for the Saints to win without him?
  10. Then take the dog along to the game.
  11. Thats a bit unfair. To me it relates more to using a few good picks well and young talent like Murphy, Kreuzer and Gibbs etc coming good, or in our case Morton, Grimes, Aussie, McNamara, Cheney, Maric, Newton, Garland, Dunn, Jones, Bate etc. Obviously one bad year will help.
  12. Throw in Pick one in PSD and it gets better.
  13. Dees can follow Carlton's Blueprint. KEY MELBOURNE forward Brad Miller says his struggling club can take heart from the recent performances of Carlton as the Demons try to edge their way up the AFL ladder. While Melbourne’s on-field woes have only been more recent, Miller said the Blues’ recent surge – Carlton leapt into the top eight at the weekend after a spirited win over Collingwood – would provide hope for the Demons. “Absolutely, I saw them yesterday and that was an awesome result,” Miller said. “They’ve sort of put number one and two draft picks in the bank for the last three or four years, and with two or three years’ experience they’re starting to develop and become a really good team. “It’s positive, it [success] just comes in cycles.” This was from the Club's latest email.
  14. Do you know who Dunn was on?
  15. You forgot to say how many he will kick in our Premiership win in this year's Grand Final.
  16. To all those who were thrilled with the win over the Dogs and who wanted to beat the Blues in the last game, here is your real reward. Yes, one of those wins cost us Rich as well, if we take Naitanui after finishing last. Sometimes the long term view is more beneficial to your future. If we could go back in our time machine, who of those that wanted the win would still hold that view. Both Rich and Naitanui would make a significant difference to our team.
  17. Rounds 14 and 16 appear certainties and 18 is ok either way I would think.
  18. A few observations from my position in front of the TV set. While Daniel Bell got a bit of the ball most of his disposals went to Casey players or the boundary. I don't know if he is just having a bad year or that is him. Meesen I am afraid to say looks hopeless. Maybe he could be tried at full back at Sandy in the hopwe of getting some confidence and learning a new position. He made Rix look like Dean Cox. I think this is turning out to be a dreadful trade. Carroll looked like an unhappy man with little interest in the game. Buckley still has disposal problems and needs to do more at this level. Jamar is a good VFL player. PS: Petterd and Newton would be positives having had a game in the reserves. Valenti should be played in the Melbourne side for the rest of the year. He has earned his spot and we need to know if he will become a regular, or will continue to be overlooked because of preset opinions of his ability, due to his size and supposed lack of pace. Also the Casey President said there was a long way to go before his club would align with the Dees. He put it at 50/50 at best.
  19. The clear advantage of a two team state.
  20. What about the Medhurst punch to Moloneys ribs shown on the replay?
  21. Me too.
  22. Looks that way from outside the fence.
  23. I had two morons sitting behind me who didn't stop screaming insults all day and gave me a migraine. Seems to be so typical of so many Pies supporters.
  24. Has now had the benefit four times that I can recall and at least two this year. Moloney was suspended for missing Bartel but being reckless in that he could have hit him. Never heard that one before, go figure.
