Brown in the best players again last night and very influential in getting them there and winning. They are basiacally a young side like we are yet he fits in perfectly. Enough said.

People react quickly to a bad defeat but remember they were preliminary finalists. However looking at the above list you are correct in that changes will be made. They have too many older players and actually have some talented youngsters who need the opportunity to get game time and add some pace into the side. Some of those listed will retire and some others like Gary will head elsewhere. They are a smart and well run club and they will still be thereabouts next year. They could have 3 picks in the top 30 with Gary leaving and a few trades could see them really load up on talent in the coming seasons. It's probably their wake up call that they are not top of the heap anymore.

I like Bruce and think he has been a very good player for us but his hospital handball has killed us this year. His turnovers in the first quarter of the drawn game against the pies led to 3 pie goals and hurt our chances of winning. This was not the only game where his disposal killed us. There is no point in looking at players through rose coloured glasses, his disposal has gone downhill badly, I am nervous whenever he has the ball. At 30 I would give him a 1 year deal and if he wanted to go to the Suns for a longer contract and more money he could with my blessing.

Though the real problem seems to be the size of his contract with the Lions. That would not be the problem under my scenario.

His father was an assistant coach at Hawthorn while he was growing up here hence he followed the Hawks.

Good piece in the Sun today about Chris Connolly and Jack Viney at the Freo Cats game last week. It said that Chris put the "hard tag" on young Jack all afternoon. We apparently brought his family over for the game. It is clear how important we view this boy and there is no doubt we are putting in the big effort to get him. Given all of the circumstances I feel confident he will become a Demon in a couple of years. PS. He was also pictured in a red and blue jumper as well.

Before you all howl me down and seek to get me committed consider this idea. It appears that the Lions are prepared to pay Fev out a certain amount of his package and release him even if nothing comes of the latest allegation. If they were to pay him say $1.5M instead of $1.9M and did it with say $500K this year and $1M next year they would save $450K this year and with about $350K saved on Rischitelli they could pay all their other players and keep them. Here goes the crazy part, the Dees then take him and pay him $200K a year which makes up his original package with the Lions for the next two years, with a strict get out clause and contract cancellation if he misbehaves at all in the next two years. Oh and by the way we would give the Lions our last pick in the draft for the trade. What do Demonlanders think. I am waiting for the men in white coats with the straight jackets to arrive.
