  1. He is a big unit now. Wonder if weight = confidence = ability. He would be hard to push aside in a marking contest. Looks like he has a bit of a pot to run off as well. This has to be his last year at the club if he doesn't improve.
  2. Actually thursday week. 7.00PM live on Fox 2 for those with Foxtel. SEN and AFL site for those who don't.
  3. Good post. I also agree that too many on here show no respect to our past or older players. Good luck Cam and look forward to seeing you back at Melbourne when your AFL career ends. PS. To the poster who said "RIP Cam" even though you probably didn't mean it, he is not dead.
  4. Herald Sun saying he may have head injuries and needs to be checked. Could be clubs further down the draft list spreading stories.
  5. Good post. I would imagine Cam has had the Hawks offer of probably a 2 year deal at similar money to our offer for each year, in his back pocket for a number of weeks now.
  6. Good point. It has been asked before and not yet answered by anyone with reference to an AFL rule. If for example he was lured to leave the Dees by the Suns and go in the PSD then surely we would be entitled to some compo. The reason this is not the case, is probably because if they wanted him, they could have done a deal with no penalty to them and left their PSD spot open. So to answer your question without the knowledge of an AFL rule, I would be pretty confident that if the Suns draft him, we will get nothing other than another player through the Rookie draft, as he was a veteran. PS. I hope the rookie we draft has a long career with us.
  7. I recall that was said this year or last and then on the first NAB cup game about 12 were unavailable out injured.
  8. I think we should have a good look at him as he is a 22 year old 193 cm player who can play forward and have a little go in the ruck like Dunn does. He is certainly a better option than Juice or Thorp who a few are spruiking. I am sure the FD will have a good look at him. He may not be for us but worth a discussion.
  9. I would imagine that Insurance could be arranged for training rather than match play for a group of players under the AFL umbrella. Getting back to Bruce, I know many will howl me down and that Cam has been a great player for us, but I keep recalling his ball use last year which a lot of the time was terrible. In the drawn Pies game he gave the ball to the Pies a number of times especially in the 1st quarter and literally handed them 2-3 goals. He gives the appearance of being scared of contact and is willing to sacrifice the ball to save himself. I don't think he is vital to our team and I would not be devastated if he chose to leave and we get another draft pick. As for the poster who said pay him whatever he wants, oh dear!
  10. That is the problem. It is hard for someone to accept that they will get less than before even if they are in sport and getting older.
  11. You have gone 4 players all over 194 cms. You are obviously happy with our mids.
  12. Bailey just said on SEN he expects Bruce to sign this week and be at training on monday leading the way as he usually does.
  13. As far as we are concerned, it is a good thing for every player we don't want to get drafted, as that improves our chances of getting the players we do want.
  14. Most melbourne fans would have predicted the exact result, it was pretty obvious.
  15. He is the perfect example of why clubs spend so much time evaluating the "mental" side of draftees.
  16. I am sure the club cares. Playing in Melbourne allows memberships to be sold and your supporters to attend the game. It also gives a better chance of winning and progressing in the competition which gives more press and TV exposure to the club and a chance of a higher prizemoney win. I am sure the club would love the exposure of a final and the prizemoney and sponsorship enhancement. Funny how we seem to get sent all over Australia every year. A loss then means playing in the outback out of sight. Remind me where collingwood is playing. PS. It has also been suggested that we are playing the first two games in our group, meaning that we will be tired in the second against a fresh side playing on their own dung heap. I think in the last 5 years we have either played the premier of the year before on their ground or played interstate. Would have been nice to draw Tigers and Dons at Etihad for a fair chance for once. PPS. As for September I note that most sides that have won the NAB cup have gone on to have a good year.
  17. The difference is that Newton and Meesen were contracted and agreed to be rookied if not taken by another club first.
  18. Agree. Wouldn't give Juice too sharp a knife.
  19. Now 27. I shouldn't have left the country, as my role has been taken.
  20. That is the key line in your post. Many on here salivate at the crap dismissed by other clubs. Luckily for us our FD don't.
