  1. I agree. Let's Luke forward and only use that name in reference to Tapscott or Trengove's Sturt Coach Norman ( a former Demon ).
  2. What are you talking about, we delisted them both and with their consent agreed to rookie them if they weren't drafted by another club. I believe Newton might be rookied by another club, so we could get another spot. By doing what we did we got two extra players in the draft.
  3. The interesting thing to me is that yes we passed on Talia and I wanted him, but so did Carlton with the next pick and they were desperate for a key forward. Maybe and this is only a maybe, recruiting staff, who do this for a living know more than we do. Don't forget, I read the papers, posted on Demonland and even watched some you tube highlights.
  4. They get paid minimum at new club and we make up this years contract difference.
  5. He is 185cms. He is no ruckman.
  6. If Meesen were taken late in the draft or as one of GC17's 5 priority picks you would have another rookie pick. If we don't draft another ruckman I would prefer to keep him for the year as insurance.
  7. I suppose you are also sending a strong message if Ball is there at 18 and we pick someone else. What you are saying is we will pick the player that best suits our needs and that is not Ball.
  8. We are on the same page except for the quality mid at 11 ( unless we were talking Rohan/Cunnington/Martin ) which we know won't happen. By taking Talia or Black and if they fire we have solved most of our problems if Gawn also fires. We must bear in mind that Gawn is coming off a knee op and that will take time maybe even until next year to be confident and fully fit. Therefore pick 11 should be a key forward who can just about step up round 1. That would IMO leave us free to go for some magic or whoever at 34 & 50. We get two brilliant mids, a key forward, a giant who can mark and kick a couple of goals and who would be nearly impossible to man up while resting forward and another couple of handy players. An experienced mid/half back to come PSD. A number of our weaknesses have then been addressed.
  9. Juice may be the one that is taken by another club late in the draft.
  10. Yes here we go. I suggest we now countdown to the first pre season game as it would hardly be worth counting down to one pick in the PSD that we already know. Enjoy the draft Demonlanders, I hope we are all happy at about 7.30PM.
  11. You certainly warm to him when you watch those highlights. We do have a problem in the ruck and he could be the next Sandilands. He would solve a forward problem too in bursts resting up forward as he can take a grab.
  12. Seems a lot of the experts and footy people now believe Ball will get to the Pies.
  13. That is amazing. I didn't think you were allowed to indicate who you were taking because of the coverage.
  14. Unless they play in black and white of course.
  15. We have a very brave President. Good luck again Jimmy.
  16. On Grand Final day that is correct, but you will never get there in todays football with out depth either.
  17. I have always believed that with two good key forwards the backline opponents concentrate on them leaving flankers and mids to chip in for goals.
  18. What makes you think that? If Black, Butcher or Talia were still there you would take Griffiths over them. I note he is due to undego another shoulder operation and is considered injury prone.
  19. Considering that when nominating you sign a form agreeing to be bound by the draft and the AFL rules, a challenge would be highly unlikely.
  20. Sorry, you have lost me. Do you mean you would be happy to take him at 11?
  21. While I am not in the get Ball camp, I agree with your statement. My preference would be for him to be taken by Port at 9 together with another mid possibly leaving us the choice of Butcher, Black or Talia.
  22. Feeling a bit like WJ and I can't wait for it to be over. While I respect Emma and her draft knowledge and admit mine is not much above nil, I can't help but feel that this year her picks won't line up with the actual clubs this year. She has Port taking 2 mids with their fist 2 picks and us 4 mids with with our first 4 picks. I just can't see that happening. She also has Cunnington slipping to 7 and Butcher taken by North whereas I feel they will take a mid, most likely Cunnington. Connolly fanning the Ball discussion is also very interesting as if we take him that changes things as it will if it forces another club to strike early to take him. Anyway it makes for a few days more discussion.
