He wanted to play finals with us, yet we selected a bloke we wouldn’t even bring on for a few minutes. Clearly a FD decision. You could easily argue that cost us a PF.

You think he acted alone without the Board. It was 90% actually, $2.7m of $3m, still the biggest single donation ever given to the club. What revenue streams back then, would have got us the $30m approx he left us, for Bentleigh and Oakleigh, plus his $2.7m. What have the last few Boards added to what he left us? He may not have been the President I personally wanted, but his contribution to the MFC was huge, in addition to helping save the club from a merger, which would have seen a different club today.

Unbelievable. The guy got us 2 facilities we sold for millions, I think in the order of $30m and personally threw in $2.7m of his own and you are having a go at him, for not begging the members for money, for a facility, that several previous and post MFC Boards have promised and to this point have failed to deliver. Wow!
  4. You mean the ruck forward that we didn’t play for a single minute, when sub in the Semi, even though Tom Mac was possessionless in the second half and couldn’t even get to a forward half ruck contest? FD obviously think he is a good option!
  5. Grundy wanted to leave us and we accommodated that. We can still rookie a ruck backup like Lycett, or whoever, for next year. I agree with Slartibartfast that list decisions need to be looked at in totality, not in isolation. There are many more factors that go into list decisions, beyond thinking a player may not be at his best in the final year of a contract. FWIW, BBB’s knee is apparently better, so he might be able to provide another key forward option next season. Personally, I see Tom Mac and Schache having little input at senior level next season, which I see as their last with us.
  6. That’s actually not true. He would get his contract amount whether he played or not and was delisted or retired. Usually retiring players compromise their salary, given they are not providing any service, or doing all the training, thereby allowing them extra money from different sources, like playing at a lower level, coaching, or a new income stream of some sort.

Forget the culture of the MFC, maybe we need to discuss the culture of Demonland.

Their loss, it is the biggest, most posted, most read, longest lasting and best thread ever on DL, never causing a problem either and yet for some reason there is this desire to end it. Football is discussed, yet it is put on a general discussion board.

Who moved the thread off the football board? Clearly wants the thread not to discuss football and to effectively whither and die.

What can you expect from a back pocket?

If it bends, it’s a banana.

And I think it is only fitting that a statue of the creator of the thread, be erected at the MCG and also another at the new home base, which will thereby encapsulate his two sporting loves.
  13. Best club in the AFL, but we have no culture.
  14. Thank you, I will try.
  15. You’re welcome.
  16. Yes now official.
  17. I hear BBO is very good at “feeding the chooks”.

And as Jack would famously say: “Wow, a picture is worth a thousand words “.

Please don’t talk about women fighting, BBO will blow a gasket. I think he still looks at his old videos of women mud and jelly wrestling.

Can’t wait for the draft to be over, so we call in the builders, to repair all the houses that we will be training down in the pre season.

And that might be his best contribution to football journalism.

I think North will get 1 but it will take getting 6 off us for 3. 2,6 and more will give WC a guaranteed Curtin and another high pick plus more. WC won’t reject that. However we must keep 11 to get another good player. 6 and F1 is plenty for 3 and should get that deal done, which will see North pass it on and be part of deal for 1. We should keep 1 and ask for one of North late first rounders back and bundle it with 11 to get a bit higher.

If true we are out contention for Reid. Take 2 good players and be done with it.
