  1. Understand that JNM, but Meek was traded the next year so he was gettable at some stage and he also went to a club with a huge young ruckman, so Max wouldn’t have put him off possibly and we might have then saved the embarrassing Grundy fallout. I would love to know if we rated either player and if we even asked. My gut feel is we didn’t rate either of them and that if true worries me considering our last few trades. I am wrapt in Caleb and was since his first practice match but i was talking if a player in addition to the picks we got. We could have said we would deal with WC to get the deal done, but i know, spilt milk. It just annoys me when I see the players traded into other clubs succeeding. GuessIi am just a cranky old Dees fan.
  2. Disagree in one respect, we could have bargained harder. If you go back to the thread at the time I was adamant we should get Treacy or at least Meek, who were both in the WAFL at the time and struggling, thrown into the deal. That would have made losing LJ a lot easier to take.
  3. There is a difference when you look at who is injured. Trac is a worse loss than some VFL player.
  4. Curnow could be out with an ankle injury.
  5. Undermanned, with sick players pulling out and others still playing, against a side with one regular out, who were playing for top 4 and who beat the top team by 19 goals the week before. We lost by a kick. That is a fantastic effort.
  6. Oliver was pretty sick and others too, so even better effort.
  7. Fumbling cost us the game. Constant fumbling. Great effort with an undermanned side, but the lack of ball handling skill kills us.
  8. I hope we aren’t that dumb.
  9. Sorry to disagree and have a different opinion and I won’t LOL at yours btw. Brayshaw getting taken out rattled our side and we got jumped. We then used our sub Lawrie, taking away the fresh legs later in the game and who was totally ineffective. I believe Gus, who was a far better player, I think averaging over 30 possessions at the time, would have helped us breach the 7 point loss difference, as I recall it was. I also feel some players lost focus after the Gus ko, like JVR, who got suspended for trying to even up, or whatever he was doing. Imo if JVR or Gus played against the blues, we reverse that one point loss and make the PF, either by beating the Pies or later the Blues. You are welcoming to disagree, no one can prove who is correct anyway. It’s just an opinion.
  10. Well imo we were certainly a Gus away from a GF. Gus doesn’t get ko’d and we are in the PF and JVR probably doesn’t try to even up, getting suspended and is playing.
  11. Strange then that the Swans have at least 10 more frees at this point in the game.
  12. I thought there was a rule that only the Captain could speak to the umpire and at a break. Pendles always does it and is at it again with umpire 22 Williamson, who is standing there talking to him. Why is this constantly allowed to happen?
  13. Will have a jump out next week and hopefully racing by end of week. If you are a horse follower I have Show Some Decorum Race 9 and Moonhaven Race 5 racing saturday at Moonee Valley. Sorry to the non racehorse people and back to Jeffo, who I think will debut either against GC or Pies in the last game, just to give him a taste of senior football.
  14. Wasn’t you I was referring to.
  15. Not as sad as someone else on DL.
  16. 200 cms is better than 197 cms so that is a start. I have to go now and ask someone for my life savings to be returned.
  17. A little birdie told me they said they would stick it up DD. 😀
  18. I am a fan of Jeffo, though not as big as Picket Fence and have posted since last year I thought he would make it, given time. While I am happy for him to get a game this year, we shouldn’t expect too much, given the way we are playing and the fact that he will be nervous and won’t have played with most of his teammates before. I hope we don’t start rubbishing him if his first game is a poor one. He is showing a bit now and hopefully he and JVR can form a great key forward combo for us for years to come.
  19. Drafted at 197 grew to 200 first preseason and is now 204 cms according to his Wiki site and AFL bio and another site.
  20. We are apparently looking at Eagles’ Harry Edwards who is a key back and 204 cms.
  21. That is very sad to hear. I wish him well.
  22. You would have to say on paper we have a better list than the Hawks, but their style of play and game plan is working far better than ours. It may be due to a lot of factors, but it is certainly starting with the coaching.
  23. Well this one will beat that. “Port should be an easy win for us, as they couldn’t even beat the Swans by 120 points, playing at home.”
