  1. Or as I suggested, maybe a straight swap for Reid, who may prefer to go home, if WC keep pick 1.

Gunston is 193 cms, just saying. He is taller than all 4 you named.

I am assuming they will fold. We gave a very fair offer compared to some other trades.

    Should have him by wednesday.

We have also added Fullarton, who on what I saw in the VFL this year, could be of some help and McAdam, a mid size forward who can take a big grab, might help also. I hesitate to say this, but we also have Schache, though Goody is clearly not going to play him and fwiw, Turner played a scratch match up forward and did well, could he be tried up forward if needed?

Hopefully Gold Trip not running either.

I think I have mixed up some different posters' quotes. So sorry about that. I agree that we keep him and I have a grandson with the same name and photos of them together, which I don't want to devalue by him playing elsewhere, ( that's a poor attempt at humour ). Lets move on.

3 hours ago, deejammin' said: So you’re saying trade him now because he’s crippled and won’t play good footy again? You’re assuming Burgess and Adelaide are stupid and haven’t done their due diligence? He’ll play early next year. Bet on it.

Someone posted " he will definitely be playing early next year". Of course they have the right to say that. Don't get so precious and indignant about my post then, when I express my opinion, on that statement, made apparently without any knowledge of Petty's injury or having any medical training. That is my opinion.

Actually Timothy, I was referring to other posters stating as fact he is 100% fine and will line up early next year. They wouldn’t have a clue and I am not even sure Harrison knows exactly when he will be right.

I love the way people give definite injury statements, when they have absolutely no idea of the injury, or especially any medical training.

Lamb just ended any speculation. 100% Petty staying.

So we pass on Dunston and Duston, what about Gunston?
  14. Redleg replied to Demonland's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
That is the real question. Lisfranc is a horrible injury and Webber might care to elaborate, but if that is his injury and he has now injured his foot twice, it could be a real problem. My understanding is that Lisfranc injuries can be career threatening. He is a big guy and that makes it worse with more weight on the foot. I wouldn't trade Petty, BUT. I would get 2 top foot specialists to effectively make the decision, is he ok or not. If we did 10, Fogarty or Thilthorpe and McAdam is fair as is 10, 14 and McAdam and very late pick Lions for Gunston for a year or two. We get pick one, get a key forward and have a high pick left.

5th, got out too late. Cox Plate next.

I was at our new training base on saturday. I had a runner in the last.

I believe that's wrong. Contracts are not guarantees of list spots, they are guarantees of payment. We could delist both but would have to pay them out.
  18. Worse than that. Umpire waited for ages and then blew play on. You can see him blow whistle and hear it for play on. Gillard takes one step forward and he penalises her. Disgraceful. He knew he he called play on and then penalises for a pathetic 50 and goal. One of the worst decisions you will see.

If you ever want an example of the media BS that is spouted. Fox Sports headline about Hawks landing a “star”. The star is Chol who struggled to make the Suns side. Really, Chol a star?
  20. This guy is a cheap option who can play key forward and score and assist in the ruck. That’s what we were seeking. Good luck Tom.

Schache and Dunstan were never more than depth. Look at the price paid. Grundy rucked alone, while Max was injured and it was more Max who failed than Grundy. Grundy was meant to ruck more with Max forward and because Max couldn’t play forward, they wanted Grundy to. That wasn’t the intent of getting him. We got back what we paid, it was 1 year and we move on. Plenty of clubs bring in players who don’t consistently make their side. Often they are depth players. We certainly have had recent success trading which led to a flag, getting Langdon, May, Lever, BBB, Hibberd and Melksham as examples. Likewise not every draftee will be successful. It is par for the course, hits and misses. The big hope is that the misses aren’t expensive.

If he is that good and available, then take him. Either swap him for Reid at some stage, or at least try and convince him to stay on after initial 3 years. If he is playing finals with us and WC are say middle of the ladder, he might be happy to stay.
  23. Redleg replied to BaliDemon's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
They are probably two different situations. BBB was injured and couldn't play. He is now saying the knee is ok. We will see how he goes in the pre season. Tom Mac was apparently fit and played in the finals and could not bend down, turn, run, contest or simply have any impact. That suggests he is not improving in any of those areas this year. Again we will see how he goes in the Pre Season. I don't think either player would enjoy playing at Casey the whole year, so it is probably in their hands what happens in the last year of their contracts. The club has salary cap room this year, to settle their contracts on a compromised amount, if they retire before the draft and allow us to have another selection. It won't kill us however, to have them on the list for one more year, but if one retires, we could probably use the spot for one of the later drafts, or to uplift a rookie, or to have for the 24 draft. If we are forced into playing Tom Mac next year, in the same form he was in at the end of this year, we are in trouble.

Spargo, Chandler, ANB, Hunter and Smith for starters. Hibbo and JJ who have gone.
