Sense of humour departed, has it?

Well Selwood and Cotchin absolutely disagree with you, saying they planned for it all week in their finals, to stop star opposition players. They continually targeted players to fatigue them and take their effectiveness away. They won flags doing it. Selwood and Cotchin both said Oliver showed sportsmanship, but it was misguided, as it could have cost his team a PF. Ruthless teams win contact sports, not nice teams.

Footy Classified is just nauseating when Eddie is on. Non stop Pies:

I just thought it was a bit unfair to characterise him as a “dime a dozen” player. Many on DL described Toby Bedford as a nothing player. Media now describes him as a vital cog in the orange tsunami.

I am too busy self flagellating after our finals exit. I am happy though to join your coup.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
What about just for one year? -
I don't think going harder at the ball and thinking for a couple of seconds, of making Maynard feel every tackle, is going to hurt a team, rather, going extra hard for the ball, would probably help us win.
-
You mean the same past that Maynard used, to end Gus's finals and our campaign? BTW, you misread SthSea22's post. He said "But at least go harder at the ball and make Maynard feel every tackle" He didn't say to "focus on roughing up Maynard, thereby not 100% focusing on the game?"

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
They are not getting 3 and 11. Why would they get overs for McKay and then get 11 as a bonus? I thought it meant they would get 11 instead of 3 for losing McKay, as other clubs were screaming. -
I believe he is an Unrestricted Free Agent and we are not offering him a fat contract.
-
Then why are 5 clubs rumoured to be chasing him, if he is a dime a dozen player? He is no star, but he must be better than that.
-
No point chasing someone who we overpay, both in trade and contract, just to get a name, who actually might not improve us. I would rather draft talent and cherry-pick a smokey, than go through a Grundy scenario again.
-
The media don’t give a rat’s about us. We are seeing that demonstrated over and again. So much luck in footy. Carlton have had 7 arc reviews since the Petracca one and won every single one. In the same period we lost all of ours. One different result against Carlton would have had us in the PF.
-
Disappointing for us he is a FA, as we will get little for him, a lowly pick, whereas if he was contracted, we could get something far better. Anyway all the best JJ.
-
Clearly something was going on behind the scenes, for Goody to prefer Schache. Last year we knew LJ was going, but we still played him.

Campbell Brown calls the Melbourne Football Club "fragile"
Redleg replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Other than Barry Hall and May out of season, all those blokes he hit weren’t really tough guys.- 83 replies

Reduced to thinking about trades and Draft picks now.

I wonder who the back up Ruck is going to be, with Flynn possibly heading to the Eagles. LRFE has suggested Ned Moyle. I suggested Goldstein for a year, who could mentor our Casey rucks and play a few games, but he seems to be looking elsewhere. Bryan re signed with Bombers. I can't think of anyone else.

Cripps nose was bleeding the whole last quarter and no blood rule. Max was booted off by an overzealous umpire, for a spot of blood on his lip at Geelong, in the last few minutes of a game and with no ruckman, the Cats scored from the stoppage and won the game. 7 Carlton frees to 1 for us in the last quarter of a tight semi final, yeah officials have no influence on games.

Ok, so not having Gus affected the SF. We lost by 2 points. Gus in JJ out, would we have won? JJ had 2 possessions in the 2nd half. To me it’s an obvious opinion to hold by someone and Ralphy is blowing it up as though the club is using it as the sole excuse for our performance. I am sure that is not the case. Maybe a contributing factor, but not the sole reason we lost both games.

Is there one Dees supporter that wouldn’t be ecstatic, if the same happened to Maynard 3 minutes into the PF? It has affected all Dees fans, not just an Official.

It could be as simple as a Board member saying he thought the Gus incident greatly affected the Pies game. Then the click bait starts. Of course it affected the game. We lost a versatile 30 possession player, 3 minutes into the game, which stopped Petracca going forward and the replacement had 6 possessions and no impact at all. We lost by 7 points. Of course it affected the game.

Well I liked him and thought with luck he could make it. Never played anywhere but hbf and is a good kick, nice mark and hard at the contest. It is disappointing news to me.
