I am disappointed. Hope it's not another Toby Bedford scenario.

Logan McDonald and McLean are no chance. Amartey might be a chance.
-
Jed is a fair way off and Kye has hardly played and is a long way further off.
-
But we don't know the private conversations. If he wants a longer contract and we have refused, this could be the ploy to get one for him.
-
Don't be surprised, that if he gets a better than one year offer elsewhere, we trade him.
-
Of course they did. Guy stumbling struggling to stand up and no doctor, trainer, physio. Nothing to see here.

From the mistake on Tracc's goal against the Blues, which cost us 2nd position and possibly a flag tilt, I believe there have been 7 Arc decisions involving Carlton and guess what, every single one of them went Carlton's way. Luck, coincidence, or interference in a game? PS. Re the ANB goal, which was called a goal by the Goal Umpire and not called touched by any field Umpire, it was a reversal of a goal, touched apparently, which again would have won us the game and which I can't recall seeing similar before. Adopting my MFCSS hat I could say every new ruling always seems to go against us, Moloney weeks for non contact, Trengove 4 weeks for a sling tackle, where victim best on ground next week, Kozzie 2 weeks for a high bump with no injury and victim laughing, Sparrow sling where victim's head didn't contact the ground, etc, etc, etc. I am sure you can all come up with countless more examples.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread

Just saw his stats are below average everywhere, except goal kicking accuracy. That must be why he is available. Still he is light and with more muscle that could all change. -

And save at least $1.2M if not more next year and Grundy's $650k going forward. Then with 5, 11 and with 13 and later picks to trade with, we could get 3 picks inside top 11 and really add some talent. This is a real once in a blue moon chance, to get multiple high end players. -
A Giants v Lions GF will renew my interest in the match.

Probably won't have one, both parties know the situation.

Yes and I am not enjoying it. We really have thrown away a great chance at another flag, with a problem we have had for weeks and weeks, poor goal kicking accuracy. Additionally, a failure to go defensive in the last 2-3 minutes and flood the backline, is a blight on our coaching and leadership. We were in a PF with 1 minute to go, what a complete lack of understanding of the situation, we showed.

We could really use a key forward and pacy pressure small forward, like Jesse and Toby. -
Tom Greene and Steve Coniglio.

RIP RDB Demon and AFL Legend. Sincerest condolences to family and friends. With EJ the two Mr. Footballs. Probably the biggest name in AFL ever. Very sad day.

Can't recall a quieter week on DL.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Redleg replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tracc did run back to create the option. Maynard let him go and charged at Gus. This was always a bump disguised as an attempt to smother. Don’t be fooled. -

I would prefer bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang , bang and 15 more. -

Sorry have edited that; meant to say about 20 metres. -

Maynard left his man Tracc and ran 20 metres flat out and jumped into the air, as Gus was coming the other way. He put his hands in the air, to look like a smother and then braced for contact. He hit him with a shoulder to the head and knocked him out. A bump, absolutely no doubt. Only the result may have been unexpected. 100 years of footy and never happened before. As some Coaches and ex players have now said if it was his brother or team mate it doesn’t happen. We have been conned. Smother, my ar-e. -

That is horrible. Hope you are ok. -

I think this was a con job. It has all been about what can you be expected to do, when you are off the ground, attempting a smother. The biomechanist was even wheeled in. The whole decision was centred around what can reasonably be expected of a player who is in the air, in the act of smothering. The con that I see, is that it was never a smother, it was a deliberate hit, to make a player earn it the hard way, with hands up at the start, to make it look like a legal act, a smother. I am not saying he meant to knock him out, but rather deliver a hard hit, making him earn it and that would affect him and rattle his team mates. Maynard said as much during the week, that he would make us earn it. We have been conned, they looked at it from the point of view of a smother in the air, instead of a deliberate hit. That is how he got off, when coupled with a pretty poor prosecution of the case. To me the whole thing has the look of being stage managed, which is borne out by the refusal to Appeal. That of course is probably my MFC bias speaking. -

Seriously, you don’t know what Tracc was doing. He was running to where the ball was coming. He couldn’t shepherd Maynard, as he just ran forward towards Gus. That was unstoppable. -
Like for like? Ruck for mid and back for forward.

They will be paying all of his salary, unless we are talking pick 11 and then we might pay some. They apparently have some interest in Harmes. Maybe Dylan Stephens and pick 11 for Grundy, Harmes and a bit of salary cap relief.
