  1. That's good for Neil, who is a good bloke and good for us. $400k saved and a person of integrity leaving and not being pushed out in a poor manner. Respect all around.
  2. IMO we have two players with sublime ball skills. Sorry one, the other one just retired. While JW has deficiencies he has some attributes that few others do. He can actually kick a ball to a target. He will develop physically and under a new coach this 195cm, quick player with great skills could develop into a very good player for us. Lets test our development and show some faith in the new FD to improve this bloke, he really could be anything.
  3. I hope the right people are nodding and winking.
  4. I would be stunned if he had met staff. It is hard enough for a few people to keep something quiet let alone all the staff. Also there would be no need for him to do it. Plenty of time after it is official.
  5. Discussing the PP and it was suggested that the AFL won't let us get Boyd and that they could well give us the pick after ours, pick 3. That makes sense as they clearly want to improve GWS. Also there would be less angst if we got 3 instead of 1. It would certainly allow us to use 2 or 3 for trading and draft a top mid with the other. The fact that this will be announced on Brownlow day does suggest we might be getting some help and that the AFL would prefer it to be the minor news story.
  6. Interesting to know if we have signed any assistant coaches, on the basis that Roos is Coaching?
  7. Lynch is a pr-ck and I don't want him anywhere near the MFC.
  8. Told by a mate that Blues are heavily into Taylor Adams and Jack Watts. What he means by that is they have made very good offers. He said they will have a fair bit of spare salary cap room with Judd's contract dropping heavily and a few leaving. He is not saying the Blues will get either just that they have made good offers. We will be in a similar position. Davey alone frees up $500k.MacDonald and Rodan should be another $3-400k. More to come. Roos will be a huge bonus, as at the moment we stink in the AFL, for prospective players.
  9. That's right we are such a strong side that we don't need improvement. Gee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. The effect of finishing 9th is that they don't get first pick in rounds 3, 4 etc. However they have actually improved their position in those rounds, going from say 12th pick to 9th pick, in each round from 3 onwards.
  11. Absolutely.
  12. Agree. This is a big "if" of course, but if Boyd was say another plugger, would you pass him by because we need mids?
  13. Then I would keep pick 1 if we got it. Boyd is being spoken of as a star and 10 year player for whoever gets him. The deal you would want for that pick would be skyhigh. That is why, if GWS have pick 1, they will not trade it unless they get a mighty package in return. If we get it we should adopt the same attitude.
  14. He is Liam's cousin and unlike Jurrah can't play.
  15. No he doesn't.
  16. Did you notice Sheahan laugh at a Roos answer and then realize he may have been on camera, quickly compose himself and look embarrassed for a few minutes.
  17. But you know Melbourne supporters we are very "Supersticious".
  18. Roos still playing a straight bat. Seems as though he is keen to have any announcement after the B&F. Said he thought B&F was about this year not the next. I think he will do what the club prefers. If they want to announce it thursday and he has signed, then it will be thursday. Noticed on OTC when Sheahan laughed and then realized he may be on camera and stopped, looking embarrassed.
  19. Looking forward to OTC tonight. Reckon the boys might not even raise the issue, but if they do, I think Roos may just increase the percentage a bit.
  20. The AFL knows exactly what it is doing in this case. They want us up and running, so that it doesn't keep costing them money. Crap team equals poor attendances equals no interest equals poor TV ratings equals less revenue for the AFL. It is very simple. A strong MFC means more AFL revenue. Brayshaw should shut his trap, as he knows this very well and also North has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of AFL handouts over the years. I would just ask him one question. "Next time you play a home game against the MFC, do you want a big crowd or a small one?"
  21. I could live with that and we might even get their 3rd rounder back. I don't see them using a lot of picks as they have to get Rid of players and reduce their list.
  22. Maybe not if we have a Coach who is prepared to do something about it.Clearly other clubs discuss umpiring with the Geisch.
  23. Lets see. $1.6m in 2014 Less $400k for Craig who may get Lions job. That's $1.2m balance. Conservatively lets say an extra 6000 members x$200 =$1.2m. He is now at zero having paid for himself. Hang on I forgot, extra sponsors, more foundation members and old ones topping up, more donors, that could be considerable amounts of money coming into the club. Makes sense on a purely commercial basis anyway you look at it. Hang on I forgot that maybe the team improves under him and then all those income streams keep increasing. Seems pretty sound to me.
  24. It 's lit.
  25. Unfortunately true. Great skills, Soft approach to the contest. Can be improved though.
