I am not sure of the timing but I leave that to PJ, but I would get in the media about having a truly fair competition. All the inequities of the competition need to be pointed out and that we will be seeking those remedied, if there is no early PP for us, given the AFL having the provision to award one. I have raised the matters before but they all contribute to the inequality and unfairness of the competition. Things like fixturing ( friday night games ) MCG games, skilled stadium games, interstate games etc, 3rd party deals.etc, etc, tanking investigations on other clubs that got PP's, funds to North, cats, Bombers , Pies for devlopment grants for stadiums and training centres. All of these things and more, affect our ability to compete equally. If the other clubs want to [censored] and moan about a PP, lets get it all out there in the open and see if that opens up a few cans of worms.

I understand that but was just assisting your argument that ii is recruiting and not development that is responsible for our failures.

Hutchy was certain on FC that we wouldn't get a PP.

That was also my view on the development / recruiting issue. None have improved elsewhere.Beamer and Ricky were the best two this year and they didn't play better with their new clubs. It just reinforces my view that recruiting is the single most damning stuff up.

There was an even simpler method. Pick the most popular selection on Demonland at each round and we would have several more AFL standard players on the list.

The amount of good players taken in the rookie draft and late in the main draft with older players etc, shows that even if you trade a few early picks, there are still players to get later, if you are smart enough. We took Jones and Terlich late last year and they finished 3rd and 4th in the B & F. Clisby was a rookie. All three can improve their games as well.

I have said this a couple of times on different threads. The answer may be in a pick coming back our way. If we get PP1 then it's Boyd and quite a few clubs will get very friendly with us. The best deal may be a couple of good players and a pick back. In other words, clubs could be so desperate to get Boyd, that they might pay slight overs and trade a couple of good players and say give us their first round pick, or maybe their second round pick and then swap rounds with us all the way through the rest of the draft. Who knows, but PP1 would put us in a great position to get players that immediately improve our side.

Speaking of racing, any chance I could get a double, Casey and Richmond.

That is the reason we are a big chance to get a PP. A weak MFC means losing money for the AFL and its clubs. Pity the Presidents and Coaches of the other clubs can't admit that publicly. Even Gerard Whately said let the MFC have another poor year before they get a PP. Robbo said, "what, an eighth year of non competitive crap, no way".

Scott had another whinge saying Freo got a couple of soft free kick goals. On return to the panel Shaw and Dermie gave it to him. Shaw said, surely he is not blaming the umpire for the loss. Dermie then fired both barrells saying he had to be joking, as the Cats got plenty from the umps and it should be Freo who were upset. He asked if Scott was complaining about the free to mayne for push in the back. He said if you fall into a guys back and lie on top of him, it is a free every day of the week. Couldn't believe Scott raised the issue of the umpires. Both Scott brothers have shown themselves to be the worst whingers ever in football.
