  1. We only seem to have been mentioned so far in regard to a couple of players. That is good as it means we are hopefully targeting a couple strongly rather than a scatter gun approach. Roos is clearly going to be the lynchpin to securing the players we want.
  2. Sorry to hear that. Wish him well.
  3. Could you see us getting pick 10 and say 25, as a softener to pick 1? The AFL could argue that 10 was Essendon's anyway, so no biggie and 25 is way off pick 1. I have no doubt Roos would then trade our first 2 picks if he could get the right players.
  4. Or that we will get a PP but it won't be PP1, which has always been the one for really poor performance. We of course are worse than that.
  5. You mean the W. C. Fields maxim.
  6. Agree. For what it is worth, I think we will get a PP, because if we don't, that is the end of them. The PP assessment group may as well be disbanded. However I can't see any way we will get PP1, but rather, the Essendon pick and if we were really lucky, pick 3, the one after ours. .
  7. Yep.
  8. It's not quite contempt of Court, but you are correct it has a similarity. It is clearly inappropriate behaviour though.
  9. Are some other clubs bringing the game into disrepute? We have an independent body set up to assess the merits of clubs being awarded PP's. Several clubs have written letters to the AFL and gone public in the media, with their opposition to the MFC gaining a PP. These actions are clearly designed to put pressure on the appointed body and to influence it, in it's deliberations. This IMO, is bringing the game into disrepute. I think it's time for a long and thorough investigation of this cartel of clubs and for appropriate penalties to be handed down if there are guilty findings.

  11. Remember he had a stint as a senior coach and I think he is rather well thought of. I think he would be the last of the current lot that would be removed.
  12. A lot of players from other clubs seem to be on the move. Either delisted or seeking trades. There could be a good opportunity to pick up a handy player or two for little cost. Roos has been adept at this in the past.
  13. It is easy to be sucked in by the hype. With every new Coach it has happened. Look at the hysteria now. I actually at one stage had to think if we had just won the flag. Hopefully this latest incarnation ends in joy for us and not tears, by God we deserve it.
  14. I agree past drafting has been poor. Why do you get PP's? Answer, because you are uncompetitive. It is the fact that you are uncompetitve, not the reason for it, that is the reason for PP's. If you penalized sides that were uncompetitive, because decisions made led to that, it would be a nonsense. Nevertheless we are already penalized. We don't get friday games. That means less exposure. That means less revenue. That means we are a less attractive club to play for. That means we find it harder to entice player trades. That is a penalty. Interstate games and skilled stadium games, same thing, with added problems or losing more likely and less fans attend. There are many more of these factors that stop us being a top team. It is no excuse to say the popular games get the TV, because that is about money and not fairness. Therefore we are starting behind the eight ball every year and yet are just expected to be good. If other clubs don't want us to get a PP then fine, lets all have the exact same chance to be successful. I am sick of the biased crap coming from the mouths of the other club's leaders. It is pure garbage. No PP's fine, then equal AFL in every way and put money last and fairness first. Do you see that happening OD? Certainly not before hell freezes over. PS. Get me on TV or Radio with some Club Presidents and I will destroy them over this.
  15. Me too. He is young and still developing. I would have kept him another year. There are plenty I would let go before him.
  16. Junior now has an award named after him. I think I read that he even presented it at the B & F. We have new people in charge. I don't think there is any grudge. He is just doing what serves his needs most.
  17. I am just stunned beyond belief, that there are Dees fans on Demonland advocating we shouldn't get a PP. I don't want to see the word " deserve" mentioned again. It has nothing to do with it. They should use the word " need" instead. Our last 7 years are worse than any club I can recall. We need a PP.
  18. Apparently Neil Mitchell just tweeted he has heard he will stay. Hope we are both right.
  19. Looking like Watts will stay.
  20. And no.
  21. Matt Murnane in the Age has an interesting concept. He says that Craig will walk away from the MFC and that we will probably have to pay him. What!!! You walk away from your job and get paid.
  22. No he can't play. What harm, he would probably trip up one of our good players and injure him in training.
  23. Now we have the other 17 clubs all writing to the AFL apparently urging it not to give us the PP. Surely not GC and GWS in that group, considering what we gave up to let them in the AFL. So we have a rule, a body to decide and behind our backs the other clubs writing secretly to the AFL trying to influence them. This is real dirty business. Lets call for some extra tanking investigations and alterations to the fixture in a secret letter to the AFL.
  24. The Barrett logic has to be, if North, his club, get in financial trouble, then they can go under, as they have received plenty of money from the AFL in the past. Distributions, grants, loans, bail outs etc.
