Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Redleg replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think that is one of your poorer posts Rhino and on reflection, I am sure you will agree. You attack Fev and Libba and yet say nothing about Brock. You know my point, that on Brock's say so, we copped a 6 month investigation and then penalties. Yet on Fev's and Libba's more direct allegations nothing happened. BTW, a few years earlier Libba was lauded by the whole AFL community and everyone wanted to hear what he said. Obviously that only applies to Brownlow week. Not one supporter, from any other club suggested to have tanked, that I have spoken to, disagrees with my assertion, that we were targeted, to the exclusion of the other more powerful and better connected clubs. I think AD agrees because he got rid of the bloke that started the investigation as soon as he returned from his overseas trip. -
THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. As I said in another thread, Essendon and its officials were disgusting during the supplement scheme and despicable since. -
Could he coach us via phone?

How can it without the whole Board resigning? They passed it unanimously and one of Lethal's ticket moved the sack motion.

I think that the behaviour of Essendon and some of its officials in the supplements scheme, was disgusting and since February this year, despicable. -

You need to understand that no one at Essendon did anything wrong at all. It is all the fault of the rest of the world, but absolutely, definitely, not them. -

Seems like the AFL's Counsel agrees with you. He says most of Burnside's comment are just plain wrong and Hird signed an agreement which proves it and is now on the public record. -

Such as a former player saying on TV, that his former club were into list management and he didn't like it. But not like another former player and his assistant coach, both saying their club tanked and using the word "tanked" on TV and in the press and in a book. Yes I can see how an impartial organization starts its investigations. PS. I believe the AFL investigators had fishing lines, reels and rods and tackle bags, in the corner of the room they used as an investigation room. -
I agree and I would let the players know we think some finals experience would help their careers.

Geelong v Casey Scorpions Qualifying Final
Redleg replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well we can probably concentrate on our elimination final next week, as this one is a foregone conclusion I would imagine. Playing the cats at their home, with a depleted side, is not a recipe for success. -
Looks a refreshing drink.

Melbourne to be investigated re supplements
Redleg replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
AD seems to suggest, when asked on Adelaide radio, that no other club was detected doing the wrong thing, during the AFL audit, after the ACC alerted it. He then says we may be investigated, but he seemed to dampen any fears. Our issue seems far more confined/limited, as only 1-2 players even mentioned and both under doctor's supervision and Dank never employed by us, as AD confirms. Doctor has also left the club immediately. We acted on notice. AOD cream was mentioned for one player's foot and Jaded posted that it is not an illegal cream and I recall another being referred to with a specific vitamin. Not sure there is even any proof that these 2 players even got to use the mentioned items. PJ also said a while ago he had no concerns in this area at all. If all above is correct, we should not be panicking. -
If he is already involved at another club, I don't think we will until their season ends.
-
The Doctor who headed the AOD safety tests, said that Doctor Garnham doesn't know what he is talking about, when he told the players' parents the drug was safe. He said that they found a cancer link under testing and that is why the drug hasn't been passed for human use. Clearly therefore the players and their parents have been misled again by the club. This is disgusting. The Doctor said you can't rule out side effects from use of the drug. The mother who rang the radio was right, the Essendon players were used as guinea pigs. God help the club if a player gets sick or has other issues from the use of these drugs. Hopefully it will not happen, but it can't be guaranteed. I think the behaviour of Hird and the club has been disgusting, in not accepting the true consequences of what they ran as a supplements program. For Hird's Counsel to label him heroic, is a disgrace of the highest order. It is a disgrace to all the true heroic acts that have occurred. These people still don't get what they have done.

Melbourne to be investigated re supplements
Redleg replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have heard from a reliable source within the AFL how this will play out. We will be subjected to a 6 month investigation. At the conclusion, our lawyers and the AFL lawyers will agree that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing. A former sacked employee will then come forward and tell the investigators, that he heard an MFC employee joke about getting some antifungal cream for a player's tinea. That will interpreted as code for a banned drug. This will be despite a doctor's certificate for the player's tinea on examination by him. We will then be charged with bringing the game into disrepute. We will be found guilty and penalized as follows: 1. All officials of the MFC in all areas, suspended for one year. 2. We will be banned from the next finals series we make, whenever that is. 3. We will be excluded from the next 3 drafts completely and banned from trading back in. 4. Any decent player in the AFL who considers coming to the MFC, will be banned from doing so. 5. We will not be allowed to play on the MCG for 5 years. 6. We will be banned from selling memberships and having sponsors for five years. 7. Any player who can kick or handball with the slightest accuracy will be removed from the club. 8. We will have to have Barry Prendergast back as our recruiting officer for the next 10 years after our draft penalties. 9. Only Neeld or Bailey will be allowed to coach the club for the next 10 years. 10. Lucas Cook will be brought back and played at FF for the next 5 years. 11. Jesse Hogan will be given to the Blues with us paying his salary and the same for Nathan Jones to the Bombers. 12. There will be absolutely no free kicks awarded to MFC players in games for 5 years unless a player is rendered unconscious and taken to hospital as a result of the incident. The opposing team will be allowed to appeal this decision to the nearest security guard. Further penalties to be advised. -
I am not too worried at this stage about any investigation of us. The publicity over this has been horrendous. We are also inches away from collapsing and the AFL know this. Also we were the only tanking investigation despite plenty of evidence of others.

Bombers got off lightly for the worst scandal ever in the game. Footy Manager gets 5 months for running the scheme and CC got 12 months, an absolute disgrace. Scheme found to have injected unknown drugs to players that may or may not be banned and/or harmful. In 2014 they go down a few places in round 1 and only lose round 2 draft pick. Pathetic. It pays to be a powerful club if you are going to do the wrong thing.

Rumour from local barista, that is coffee maker not lawyer, that the AFL will give final offer at 3.00PM today and Essendon and individuals, have until 5.00PM to accept, or offer is off the table and a hearing will scheduled. -

I'm surprised, that you are surprised, that I am surprised. Does that surprise you? PS. Hope you are well, we haven't spoken for a while. -
Another day, another media frenzy at Docklands. This negotiating penalty is getting a very ridiculous look to it.

Interesting when Bomber Thompson asked Eddie tonight what is the biggest fine from AFL he said $250k. Blues copped $930k and we copped $500k for getting off the main charge and Crows got $300k. Media is saying poor Hird looking at 12 months, yet CC got 12 months and he put no one 's health at risk and no drugs were involved. -

When we talk about innocent AFL players, I wonder how we contrast that with 14-16 year old chinese swimmers, who are given supplements by their team doctors. These kids, mainly girls, are taught not to question authority. They don't answer back or speak up. They are different to properly AFL instructed AFL players, who are 18 and older and asked to have multiple injections, of varying substances, in the stomach. We have no hesitation in labelling the chinese swimmers as cheats, for doing as they were told by their officials. Double standards anyone? -
Watch the pathetic side GWS will field in its last game of the year against GC. Guarantee better players will be rested. They want pick 1.

What Hird said something that the AFL disagrees with, that is a first.I actually think that Hird believes that he has done absolutely nothing wrong and that for some unknown reason the AFL has set out to destroy him. The JeanValJohn of the AFL. Seems apt as his behaviour during and after the scandal has been "les miserable ".
