Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Redleg replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good to be proved correct. Thanks. -
I think the Blues may be on the way down, as Judd, Scotland, Simpson, Waite and other experienced players will soon retire, or leave, like perhaps Betts.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

I believe the procedure is that they issue infraction notices which are then dealt with by the sports' governing body. Penalties have to be in line with agreed protocols and precedent. If WADA or ASADA are unhappy with the penalties I believe they can take the matter further. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Bob I am surprised that you would think that. Essendon are involved in the biggest scandal ever in the history of the AFL/VFL. They have compounded it with their attacks on the AFL. They have taken the AFL to Court. Adelaide were involved in salary cap cheating. We conducted an activity that several other clubs also were involved in and both the AFL and our lawyers, agreed there was no evidence to find charges proved. We saved the AFL face and agreed to plead to a nothing charge. We also saved further investigations into all those other clubs by not going to Court and having them brought up. I don't think the Crows or Bombers in any way would be concerned with our penalty, as it was irrelevant to their crimes. Spitting chips, I hardly think so. PS. Hird is railing against being suspended for 12 months and says he would cop no more than 6 months for his failures and his actions since, against the AFL including personal attacks. Wonder how CC feels about his 12 months suspension. -
Too many it looks like.
-
No but I think he was selected at the sales by Prendergast.
-
Good get.
-
Probably, because as a few have said, we are irrelevant now.

Agree except for the bit on Dunn, I thought he has been pretty good the last few weeks. He is not braveheart, but next to JW he is Superman. Also, I don't watch a game of football to have commentators talk about a mexican wave, that they want to start, for 3/4 of the game. Basil, Hamish and Tom were hopeless. Maybe they could get a gig at a retirement home on bingo night.
-
Agree. It doesn't auger well for keeping blokes and gaining others.

I just watched a horse of mine run 20 lengths last in heavy 10 ground. I should ask him if he has ever played footy, I know where he could get a game.

That is a very diplomatic way of saying the umps were pathetic. 70 tackles and we get our first holding the ball late in the last quarter, while we are pinged every time someone touched us, when we had the ball. I know they didn't cost us the game, but they umpired worse than we passed the ball to each other.

Agree.

Aside from 7 minutes in the second quarter and the last half of the last quarter we were with them. The umpiring was terrible and gave them about 8 goals either directly or from the next kick. Holding the ball didn't exist for our 70 tackles yet they got about 10 holding the balls from their 58. It is very hard when you are being umpired out of it to keep going at the end. we eventually dropped our heads and gave up when it was over and they got soft goals. We have some players who give no effort. We have some who don't know what gut running is. We have some who are simply soft. We get no leadership from our captains. I now think their elevation is a monumental blunder. It has affected their games as well. Our skills are what let us down time and time again. It is easy when the other side gives you the ball. Some of our passing by foot and hand is as bad as I have seen, but we do it all the time. The coach seems to have got us trying, but without a midfield and skilled, hard, players, it is an impossible task. We should just show film of Hodge, all day to our soft players. We have no one like a Campbell Brown who can intimidate. As every Dees fan knows, we have no midfield, though I think Viney, Jones and Toumpas will form the basis of the one we end up with.

To be honest, I am so numb from this season, I don't care.
-
Have a happy birthday and forget about this season. It was a nightmare.
-
Maybe he needs to be pumped up for trading.
-
Pretty accurate.Rodan was killing them with 7 possies and several clearances when he got injured. After he went off we didn't get a clearance. You left one out: Umpires - shamefully disgraceful effort.
-
Nothing goes right for Melbourne or any team with their players.
-
We have the worst captains in the AFL. We have no standing at all in the game. We cop disgraceful umpiring often and do absolutely nothing about it.
-
I think your earlier post is more accurate, our recruiting has been disgraceful.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Caro is pretty sure the AFL want 2 years of draft picks. Also, journos are now saying losing this year's points is really nothing, as they are shot anyway. -

But will they sink in the end? -
I was actually stunned he started with I think, instead of a positive statement.
