Well we are probably the AFL premiers at one thing - snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. In each of of our close losses this season, 3 by a couple points and one by 10, we have seen similar things: Poor disposal skill from several players. Lack of pace in the side. Poor kicking for goal. Wasted possession. Poor leadership at crucial times. Poor coaching. Poor selection. Dumb or stupid decision making. Poor umpiring. We can probably change all of the above over time, with maybe the exception of umpiring. Despite all of the above, we are now a far better team than the last few years and that is probably driving our hurt more, as we now expect to win, even at places like the cattery. TBH when I saw the team I thought at best it was a 5 goal loss at least. A few changes will help us enormously. Look at the last contest, Tuohy went up against Jetta with Spargo nearby. The next nearest was Salem. Not a big bloke in sight. Killing the clock just has to be learned. Our leaders need to lead out on the field or change them. Viney was a huge out as he would have buried the ball in our forward pocket in the last minute and probably game over. Frost to Hawkins early and one good contest and we win. Flood the backline in last minutes and we win. So all is not doom and gloom if we really learn and change not just talk about it. A couple of changes and we have a really good team that can match any other in the AFL. But yes, now it really hurts to throw away winnable games.

Just gutted like all of you. I have one wish to make me feel a little better. Making the finals and then knocking the Cats out of them.

Great and Kent 14 which is amazing for him. VDB could be a big in for us soon.
-
Our only chance IMO, after the injuries, is to apply manic pressure and not let them get any flow in their game. This requires mental toughness. A failure to do this could see us get smashed, given they have the familiar ground, the crowd and inevitably will have the umpires.
-
Was feeling quite confident about the Cats game until we lost Viney and Hibberd.
-
Especially on the bigger MCG type grounds where he can run to space and break the lines.
-
Well just for them I heard Dusty, Lynch, McGovern, Cripps and Curnow have signed with us for next year.

Would usually be concerned about a product made by a company called Nippys, but in the interest of research will try it.

Taking players from other clubs who were possibly high draft picks or not, but who didn’t produce their best at the club who drafted them, has been successful many times. Often more so than drafting. A couple of reasons for this could be that you have seen them against senior players and you might know of a reason why they haven’t performed to their ability, like injury or homesickness for example.

My last game at Kardinia Park was 186, where I saw our seniors and reserves lose by about a combined 50 goals. It was a nightmare. Said I wouldn’t ever come back and I haven’t and won’t.

Yes.

I am staggered he hasn’t got a rising star award yet, given his performances this year and especially since a few of the winners had far less impressive games than Charlie, in the particular round they were nominated.
-
Not at the start of quarters or after goals there isn’t.
-
Put Hunt on the wing and it is no issue.
-
Well yes but Cyril was a generational player. They don’t grow on trees. Unrealistic draft aim, especially with no first round pick.
-
I would love to get another Hunt, but with better disposal and maybe an Eddie/Jeffy type, who can get a goal from nothing and also have the pace to apply real defensive pressure.
-
Hibberd gives up bananas and gets injured. Will they never learn?
-
Geelong fairly light on for injuries now. A couple of hff’s. Henderson back and Taylor could be ok.
-
I don’t and I would bet Horse agrees.

That joke has been done to death on DL
-
Think he signed a new contract last year.

Harmes tagged Macrae in 2 nd half and did well.

Someone said to me, that JKH, like players who are given a chance, often play with the fear that a mistake could see them dumped. This clearly would restrict their natural instinct and ability to play well. On that basis, without any better player being available, he gets another game.
-
So you have always thought Jones was a crap player. Fair enough if that is your opinion. I think most on here and the MFC and the players he played with and the footy public would disagree. But that is ok. When he won his Blueys did you post on here that he had beaten no one? Have you called for his dumping regularly? I am happy to question players ability but I don’t agree with personal attacks and rewriting history.
-
No I am angry at the rubbish being posted that Jones was never any good and the fairly nasty attacks on him. I accept the legitimate questioning of a player’s current ability as I always have.
