  1. Absolutely agree! Neitz was an absolute star........marked, goaled, was tough, and lead from the front........I never realised how big a hole he would leave. My favourite MFC player I've seen play!
  2. $5..........that's a joke. I stopped buying it years ago, so I'm not fussed, but still pathetic.
  3. Agree completely! Junior was great, and I continue to marvel at his commitment and effort.......he is a great leader and terific role model for the young guys!
  4. I didn't expect a win today........but certainly signs of improvement and progress from last year. Today was simply pitiful. There are no more excuses...........Hawthorns young / new players all came in, played their role and most importantly, knew what to do. Peterson, Moss, Schoenmakers, Shiels, Kayler-Thomson, Suckling.........around 35 games played combined from these 6 players.....and each one had 15 or more touches today, and contributed. They slotted in with senior players out, and knew what they were doing. Many of these kids have come off their rookie list, and aren't top draft picks! Our players on the other hand made error after error, lacked composure and system, and continued to just run blindly forward and turn the ball over. Bailey sold himself on educating players about the game, and building a more competitive team.......to date, I've seen nothing to this effect. Jobe Watson on Before The Game tonight was asked about being happy with being "competitive" against the premiers of last year, and he responded by saying that some teams may be happy to just be competive, but that Essendon expects to win every game, and they are not happy with any result apart from that. I'm sick of the Bailey rhetoric, and tired of watching our players play mindless football without any system.
  5. Come on Dees........after hearing Brock just say after the game "I was just saying to the boys it's the first round 1 win I've played in since 2005" and watch him sing the Carlton song, let's prove he made the wrong decision, and get stuck into the Hawks!
  6. What a terrific initiative from Schwabby and the club. I think this is a sensational idea because: It further personalises supporters relationship with the club It's a great way of communicating the vision with the members For footy tragics like me, it's just another side of the game / club we get to see, improving my enjoyment of the game It showed me that the club direction is built around many of the things I value about being an MFC member Highlights the passion and understanding of what the club is about by the people responsible for running it Reminds us that while week to week things can get frustrating (losses, injuries etc) there is a sound plan in place taking the club forward We have very good people in charge of the club at present........let's give them the time and support they need to deliver!
  7. I don't get the impression from Trengove he is that arrogant he is already planning his exit out of the place! He hasn't even played a senior game of AFL yet! He was nervous, and if anything, is probably sick of being paraded around as the face of the club. He has signed for 3 years, and his best mate is at the club for 3 years too...........when we start winning games, he won't be going anywhere.
  8. I liked Robbo, and thought we should have kept him for at least another year, and I haven't changed my view on this just because of the couple of losses we have had this year. The forward line was always going to be our weakness this year.........Watts was never going to be an immediate Neitz replacement, we know where Miller is at, Bate is solid, but not going to necessarily give us goals every week, and Jurrah is still so green. I'm no footy "expert" but a pretty passionate follower of the Dees, but I still simply cannot understand how Newton stays on our list and Robbo didn't. Talent / value wise, they are poles apart. I find it odd that the Bombers picked up an aging Mark Williams with a dodgy knee to assist their your developing forward line, whereas we let Robbo go and continue to struggle to kick winning scores, or even have a forward that can take a solid mark and kick straight on a semi regular basis. It matters little now, but I have to agree Deevoted, I think having him around now would be very handy indeed.
  9. It's going to struggle until Watts starts to fire and become a regular marking option that can kick straight! At the moment we have no forward that can do that.
  10. Tough, tough game footy! More suprised over Buckley than Valenti, but both could feel they deserve still to be there as opposed to some of the other players on the list. But when you look at some of the players in the same draft that have gone on with their careers, I guess you can understand why Buckley is where he is at. Patrick Ryder, Mitch Clark, Sam Gilbert, Shaun Higgins, Marc Murphy, Bernie Vince, etc etc.......some of these guys are reaching the peak of their powers, and Buckley has struggled to get a consistent senior game. Hope they both get the chance to continue their careers elsewhere.
  11. What's going on here: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfnews/de...5195743356.html This article flies in the face of everything that has come out of the club in regards to Ball so far, and I cannot see us using one of the first four picks in the National draft to get him. As stated elsewhere, it makes no sense to anyway.........if he wants to come to us, he can nominate the preseason draft knowing he comes to us with pick 1. Can't help thinking these journos have buthchered this story!
  12. This bloke is kidding himself! Blaming facilities for not getting on the park, and continually breaking down. He better go to the Hawks. I hear they have the best hamstring and ankle repair machines ever! Nothing more than a story being spun by his manager to try to fool clubs it's not his client who has the problem, but the club. Don't touch this bloke MFC!
  13. I get a feeling we are pretty much done and dusted for trade week now, with no real word around about us at present.
  14. Good result all round here. With so many kids on the list, and more to come, we can't let all the experience go from the list in one hit. Not world beaters, but solid citizens, and important to the club at the minute......glad they are both staying!
  15. Good call! And it isn't like he then heads off to a full time job somewhere else.............footy is the full time job, so if it takes a little extra to get there and back, then tough!
  16. Good deal for both parties, and probably further confirms the McLean deal was also fair for both parties as well.
  17. Anytime I saw him play he was pretty damn ordinary. Prefer we kept Jamar instead of picking up Mumford.
  18. Players come from all over the country, from remote communities, from out of their comfort zones into new cities, and new environments, but changing suburb to be a bit closer to his place of employment for a highly paid sportsman is a little too taxing. There are plenty of much nicer suburbs between Maribyrnong and Cranbourne he could move to if the travel was the GENUINE problem here. This is Brock simply not tipping the bucket on anyone at the club and being diplomatic, not the reason he left the club. Travel to Casey is a non issue IMO, and if it is, then a player needs to reconsider their living arrangements.
  19. Good call..........and Jolly wouldn't come with the same injury question marks Burgoyne would either.
  20. The thing that worries me most about Martin is that he is highly rated by Richmond! That's got alarm bells all over it for me! From what I've read, and the limited video footage I've seen, I say go with Trengove at 2. I love the fact that he isn't just playing against men, but playing well against them.
  21. Taking the red and blue hat off for a minute.........the deal is a genuinely fair one for both parties, and obviously both CEO's agreed if they have shaken on it. Poor form by the Blues here.
  22. Not sure why we would want to get rid of Buckley..........before getting injured this year, he has shown plenty of promise!
  23. I wouldn't touch Rusling with a barge pole! If it was Rusling without the injuries, you would take him in a heartbeat, but then the Pies wouldn't be letting him go! His body is a time bomb waiting to blow one last time, and I'd prefer Collingwood clean up their own mess here, not us!
  24. Great result, well done Dees, and well done Flash.......bring on 2010!
