  1. If Freo are interested, that would stop Davey going into PSD (if he didn't want to go there - however, he is "puting his family first" - Freo would test that). So no Dons that way.
  2. Agree H on all counts; especially as he's 27 next June. He has 2 big weapons - speed and foot skills; don't expect the speed to be around for too much longer. Heavens, there's a lot not not to like about a long deal. But also worth remembering, we are really struggling to meet the SC minimum. So extra coin to to someone eg davey, might be on (but might also be unsettling - Green might be [censored] off), and a 4th year dependent on set performance conditions (eg games played, Brownlow votes, where in MFC B&F etc).
  3. The Saints wouldn't have made the top 4 without Riewold. Simple. <_<
  4. Because he doesn't have the smarts. End of story.
  5. Time to get a grip. Hysteria over a small forward/mid who has had a good/very good year, after 2 or 3 ordinary ones? Yes, he's a favourite with the kids (I presume so, wouldn't know). Leadership? You're kidding. He apparently has a good rapport with the other Indigenous blokes (ed: no offence intended with use of Koorie); good. A future club leader and maybe captain, I think not. I would like him to stay, but not way over the odds with regards a contract; 3 yrs and good $'s is fine; nothing more. He's forgetting the faith the MFC has shown in him. Rookie listed and supporter funded to get him on the main list. Then some very ordinary years after his first. Look at Geelong, half their list are playing for way under market value because they are a team who can see profit other than $'s. Time we saw some of this at Melbourne. And a winning club is never built around a good small player; only good big ones.
  6. Fair enuf too. Jake Spencer, Kyle Cheney, Jordie McKenzie and Paul Wheatley all should have played (got these names from scorp's web site!); they all played against the saints, and don't remember any injuries.

    Rookies

If MFC doesn't want Valenti, swans would get him for pick 50 to 70 or whatever, and still have pick 6 for a top juniour. Doubt they'd give up 6.

    Rookies

Pretty sure Meesen has another year of his contract to go.

    Rookies

Rookies can also be traded now, so there may well be interest in Valenti from other clubs. Also, McLean going increases his chances of staying at MFC. Nice to see he got a Brownlow vote as well.
  10. And your point is? McLean was pick 5 in the worst draft for 20 years. 96 game star? hahahahahahaha Fevola? Get a grip. Good Grief.
  11. You must be kidding. Injured more than he plays AND all potential, no delivery. Reputedly North's top player payment wise - I can see why they want to get rid of him. Probably just a fantasy post.
  12. I tend to agree, but whatever, one Morton is enough for any club. <_<
  13. I'm not sure Lake is a good get. 1. His second half this year was very good. But, if I remember correctly, his first half wasn't, and Eade had question marks about him 2. He's 27 3. He wants a 4 year deal 4. We have plenty of good backs who should only get better
  14. Yes, I read that too (national draft). The problem he has is his asking price, and picks before 9. The hawks can only pay him $450K due to SC (he's OK with that). If he nominates $450K, plenty of other clubs (including MFC) would jump at that. If he nominates, say $700K (apparently that's his 'market' price), the hawks can't afford him. And, theres plenty of picks before the hawks 9 anyway. Richmond, for example. Bourgoyne would be a good fit there, especially with Hardwick as coach. And there's North & the swans.
  15. 31 in November. Doubt he'd want to come to us. Equating Bradshaw with Robbo is just absurd. Bradshaw is still a gun, Robbo never was and his useful days are well over. Having said all that, NO.
  16. Or Walker is not interested in coming to MFC. <_< He was pick 2 in 2003 draft.
  17. Yeah. Read that too. Hawks are reported to only be able to find $450K in their SC for him. This is cheap for Borgoyne; if he nominates higher than this, hawks can't afford him; if less or equal, plenty of other clubs will be able to afford him, including MFC. Having said that, i don't understand why hawks want him. They have a very hard at it inside/outside mid-field. Their weakness is down back and rucks. If they get Bourgoyne, they will have to move one of their mids (to another spot or team). You gotta ask: why bother?
  18. Hope there is a biggish incentive element in it.
  19. I reckon it went like this: 1. Brock was offered a new contract on less money, and told his position was not guaranteed. 2. His manager flew the flag, looking for interest 3. To their surprise, they got a big hit, quickly 4. Had to make a decison quickly 5. He's probably a bit shell shocked now No need for anyone here to bag him, or call him a traitor. He was not shown the door, but was told his position wasn't guaranteed. we don't know the $'s he's on, but it may well not be more than we offered. He is no star, but is a hard-nut, 23 yr old mid fielder who has played nearly 100 game. Could be a good fit for carlton. And hell, who wouldn't want to play with Judd, Murphy and Gibbs in the mid-field! Good luck to him

    Salary Cap

Mentioned here that Bradshaw from the lions may be available. But he's 31 in Nov.
  21. Think this belongs in this forum - as it's all about the consequences of drafting. Seems to me, with the exit of McLean (who would have been offered a contract of, say, $300-350k?) that we almost have to get a marquee player, one who realistically commands $700k or so. Either that or special dispensation from the AFL to pay below 92.5% of SC. If we don't, front loading of contracts of our young players will become absurd. And if we do have to get a marquee player. Who? Who's available? Who'd want to come to the MFC? (2 ironies in all this for me: 1. 2 years ago, we were maxed out on SC - and getting flogged. Today, we are a better team, realistically at 80% of SC 2. Financially, with new MCG deal & debt demolition etc, we are in our best position financially than we have been for ages. So it goes) Thoughts?
  22. WTF. Who do we have that Port would give pick 7 or 9 for? FFS.
  23. Not so. Apparently he was offered a new contract with a significant pay cut, in a team with more, and more coming, mid-fielders than a shark has teeth.
  24. Wasn't McLean's donation last year, 2008?
  25. Easy. Look here.
