VOTES: Rd 17 vs Port Adelaide
Hellaintabadplacetobe replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know it’s a tough ask tonight but I’m blown away several are leaving Clarry out of votes. 21 of his 31 possessions were contested, 77% efficiency, 6 score involvements, 11 clearances. He was huge tonight. -

The other good thing is Fritsch and even TMac have a little less focus on them from the opposition and become more dangerous IMO. -
CHANGES: Rd 17 vs Port Adelaide

Wouldn’t be surprised if Viney was managed this week. He looked way off the pace theses 2 matches and off 5 days break could be more of a liability Thursday night than he was the past 2. A fit Viney is critical for finals. With his injury history I would not risk him off 5 day break. -

Why isn't Kozzie going through the middle anymore?
Hellaintabadplacetobe replied to Altona-demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah it's a little odd I'm not sure what is the purpose but it's almost every opening bounce of a quarter. Can't remember him having any impact in there once. -

Some good points in there Rab. Just on 2 of these lads, Hunt to me looked like he was playing to instructions and trying to find a leading forward and not to have a crack at goal. He had 2 clear shots on goal that while difficult, we're gettable. If he nails those 2 shots he could be a hero thIs morning but I believe he was playing to instructions. Petty got crunched on the southern stand wing a few minutes before 3/4 time. He was down on his haunches for close to a minute and I thought he'd come straight off and be subbed out. He went completely downhill after this and made some crucial errors but I looked around at start of last qtr and was gobsmacked he was still playing. He was clearly playing hurt and it showed in his movements that last qtr.

Johnny I was there, and there was bugger all to make noise for in the first 3 qtrs other than out of frustration, we were awful! We resembled a team in the last and the crowd got involved accordingly. It was as also the coldest I can ever remember being at the footy! By the way did you see Richmonds crowd on Thurs, and they have twice our members.

52,446 is the record which is looking likely to be beaten. Agree, great effort!

What they're saying down at Windy Hill
Hellaintabadplacetobe replied to Superunknown's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is how I remember the rule playing footy in the 80s and 90s and I reckon all who played then will agree. Maybe it was a case of Chinese whispers and it was never a written rule back then, but this is how it was played. -
Sadly nobody is listening but I'm with ya Kent ! Any chance we can keep this thread to what it was intended for??

I've always thought the foot has to be inside the line in these instances. Even Harrison Jones thought it was a point after he saw the replay, you could see him set up for the kick in, then his surprise when it was confirmed a goal -
Kozi has had a poor last few matches. Love him but it might be time for a break and think about team footy again.

Saints play Cats, Swans, Lions, Eagles and Port in run home. I reckon they will do us a few more favours in our bid for top 2 this year. They are a better team than what they've displayed so far so hopefully we see more of last night's effort moving forward!

Good Question! I seem to remember Drake being around for a while back in the 80s or 90s?? Certainly won't be Energy Watch !

Geez I'm flat after that. Cats are insufferable.

Mackay has been cleared

The footballer in me who played in the 70s and 80s who once copped a king hit behind play and had to live with it says great contest, play on and unlucky to Hunter The father of 2 young boys In me says we need to protect the head at all times and despite zero malice from Mackay, he chose to bump and broke Hunters jaw in 3 places with the potential of ongoing health issues as a result. I love tough footy as much as anyone but concussion / brain injury are changing people's lives and in some cases ending them. I won't be upset if a precedent is set here.

Frees were 28-17 our way. We were dismal and got what we deserved. I do however agree with the OP and that free for out of bounds decision being reversed even though it was the correct decision in the end. Don't think I've ever seen an umpire change his mind because a player questioned the decision before in my life.

Just keep in mind they've flown across the Nullabour 4 times in 7-8 days, you could see they were spent in the last 10 mins. Still a massive threat with several stars to return.
