Newman: You emit a foul and unpleasant odour. Ron: Oh, is that right? Kramer: [in Newman's ear] I *loathe* you... Newman: I *loathe* you.
  2. I think Neale Daniher did very well seeing we were broke for most of his time at the club. He tried his absolute hardest but thats just my view.
  3. There are so many reasons to dislike this short post: a) It was widely reported that Daniher gave instruction on choosing Luke Molan. b) Many thought Morton wasn't a bad choice at the time. c) Why do people butcher every possible committee man, player, servant of the club? We loved it when CC came onto 'ology/Land at the time ... it gave us gravitas. That is all.
  4. The schadenfreude for Essendon's woes I can understand but dont agree with. The hatred for Collingwood is old school but Eddie has supported Demons in the recent past, even if his support is eddie centric and flawed. I have no feeling for them. If however the club was the hawthorns, I would be high-fiving the air big time. That shwine Kennett has kicked us repeatedly. Wish it was them.
  5. In my view a win in the 1st round against Port Adelaide is crucial. How many years since we won our 1st game? Every time I read someone proposing we will allow Clark or Trengove to play into form or that we need to "give XXX some games" I worry that we wont be putting our absolute best team out there for this game. Looking at round 2 or assuming this is a gimmee is scary. I think it is a legitimate thread.
  6. Just makes the Dees at 10/1 to make finals a better bet.
  7. We won! Well its back on SBS anyway. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/marngrook-footy-show-gets-sbs-reprieve-20130131-2dmw0.html "The axing of Marngrook by ABC2 at the end of last year prompted a strong backlash and a social media campaign to have it picked up by another network." 8. I think Caroline Wilson will have an article ready to go when the AFL pronounce judgement. I also believe MFC will have known the outcome before it is announced. In other words whatever is going to happen will be worked out behind the scenes and there will be no legal fight. I dont have sauce on vegetables and dont agree with this process but I bet thats how it will play.
  9. I see that in this discussion on Gay rights BH has had 20% of the replies.
  10. Im sure someone(Fan?) on here predicted that if the AFL had already had an outcome for tanking engineered/planned; (i.e. sack CS OR CC) they might announce it on a date where another important sporting event was going to take place. Like the Australian Open, say, to move it off the front page. Not to give credence to a rumour but it would fit that scenario.
  11. sorry, I misread your post.
  12. I find it interesting that you seem to think TimD is Rhino. I dont know either personally but their respective personalities seem different to me.
  13. Many people believe he suffered from an injury all last year which affected his pace and kicking action. If this was true, why hasnt it been acknowledged at all by now? It doesnt seem to make sense to keep it a secret.
  14. I am happy with Jack Watts playing across the back and pushing towards the middle over the next 2 or three years. Because I know he can transition into a forward without too much difficulty after he is 25 or so. Plenty of strings to his bow. Unfortunately he probably is a bit smug in thinking the same thing.
  15. 1) Pies 2) Hawks 3) Swans 4) Dockers 5) Eagles 6) Crows 7) Cats 8) Tigers ----------------------- 9) Blues 10) Lions 11) Bombers 12) Saints 13) Demons 14) Kangaroos 15) Power 16) Bulldogs 17) Suns 18) Giants
  16. Being clean with disposal comes down to being able to assess and dispose fast and accurately. It is easy to dispose correctly when there is plenty of time to do so. Grime's kicking is very accurate unless he is under pressure and in my opinion he is not very QUICK and this is when he misses targets occasionally. Not always but enough to make me think that he would be either better placed as an outside runner or a flank. He isnt FAST enough to be an outside runner so thats why I think his skills are better suited to a Half Back Flank.
  17. They may be inaccuracies to you but it is my opinion and you should say that your view is your opinion. I havent been to training this year but other than that, I watch a lot of football, and see most Demons matches. But no worries really, I wont argue with you as I dont rate you.
  18. There will always be exceptions to the rule but I believe the best players should be annointed before the most vocal, or my bigger worry, those that look distinguished in Pre-season. Some times (this time IMO) these appointments are made without a kick in anger having taken place and a certain self satisfaction in how Pre-season is coming along. Maxwell and Vandenburg are/were role models filling in as captains when an obvious leader was just not there. Maxwell grew into it well but Vandenburg was a different story. We have a dearth of leaders too but unless you are a Mckenzie or Garland Fan, it looks dopey and over full. Its not Davis Cup... Do you need to play like a captain to be in the leadership squad? No. But it is a gold pass when an arguably better player is looking at that position.
  19. This shows me how we will struggle again this year. If Grimes is our best option in the centre (and Im not discounting Big red's assessment), Jones and Viney will be exhausted quickly. His back is dodgy. He is not fast or quick. Brent Moloney couldnt bend his back either but was strong and fast. Grimes is a smarter player, good overhead and He makes good decisions but doesnt have enough speed to be clean under pressure. As some-one else said, as a Centreman he makes a good HBF. I would have Kent instead of Nicho on the bench.
  20. Comparing "Class" and skill to another nuffie who cant get a game in a bottom side is not really a compliment. Those that rate joel Macdonald should consider he is only in his element when a ball is bouncing toward the boundary. Because he has no hope of picking the bounce he taps it, until an opposition player gets close enough to harrass. He is happy then to scrag and knock the ball over to await a throw in. If its a perfect day he will then attack the player who had called him out for the klutz he is. Thats what I pay my money to see. And I get to see a lot of it.
  21. ...actions are what you do on the field and should be 90% of the criteria. Mckenzie has as many shockers as any. In my experience there are plenty who are great leaders at training and at breaks. Leave it out. I hope this year is meant to sort out the Leadership. No more injuries and fitness excuses. Garland and Mckenzie better make sure they are there for the photo because they dont even make my 22. If this exercise had been done last year, Jones would be captain now.
  22. People seem to get outraged about a proposition (trading Watts)when its actually all about price(2nd Round). If you quickly and honestly throw together the most valuable players now and over the next few years you may find Jack isnt actually in the top 5. Jones Frawley Clarke Grimes Blease Trengove Howe McDonald Watts Sylvia say... If you then examine the 6th/7th (or 9th even) at a comparable club, you dont get much. And BTW Watts is about 4 for me. But then I thought Trent Ormond-Allen was going to be a star.
  23. and catch footballs
  24. If you haven't been on Demonland for 6 months or so and maybe wondering if the demise of Demonology impacted Demonland in any fashion, then good sir, I would direct you to this thread.
  25. I am coming around to Dunn going by training reports. He is our best goal kicker from outside 50 plus can play down back. I'm still bent out of shape by Garlands last year and think/hope Dunn will have less brain fades. If there is a player that would most benefit from the Neeld Way, it would be Dunny. Conversely I hope there are other players pushing for this spot. I don't think Trengove and Grimes will be playing in the same team before Queens birthday. Grimes is too slow to be in the square already and his back is being managed at this early stage. Trengove is a major worry even before his present injury.. Jamar is on my [censored]-list as well. I would play Spencer in NAB. Apart from the kicking he shows promise for this year.
