Collingwood are a much better team at the moment, even though they havent been at their best for a couple of weeks. We have been nowhere near our best all year. Our in's, although very good players, wont be at their peak after a while out of the game. Pies by enough, but we have to beat someone eventually dont we? Dont we?

Happy birthday SWYL !!

You will still be labelled racist. Because boo.

They tried to do something with Tracs ball drop at one stage. I remember the footage of him using a tennis ball instead of a footy, to do *something to improve his drop. Clearly didnt work. *something = im not sure what using the tennis ball was going to improve... Ball drop, ball height etc, speed etc etc.

Well hasnt this thread gone to [censored]....

Yes, we probably are desperate, but that indicates to me that the club still think we are a shot for finals action, or the risks just wouldnt be worth it. I hope they end up being right ofc, but cant see us making it unfortunately. Rushing players back from long breaks (without games in the 2's to find some form) almost never works out well. Especially in huge game like Mondays will be.

Not so Bing. (From me anyway) My argument with selecting Lever is that he has not shown any decent form in his 1 and a half games since returning to the field. May played well last week so he deserves the call-up. Salem is an auto-in after only a couple of weeks out as far as im concerned. Lever has been out for a year and has not yet found his feet. I will be shocked if he plays a good game on Monday if selected. As is said, it reeks of desperation when our season is essentially rooted already.

Surely Lever cant play in such a huge game with so little match fitness/practice under his belt. I might sound like a broken record, but it just reeks of desperation to play him this week. We have enough underdone players already. As to Goodwins appearance in the presser, he has GOT to be feeling the heat right now or he isnt human. Hope thats all it is for his sake.

One thing MFC does not lack the season, is choices for "disappointment of the year". Biggest onet for me is a toss up between May ( because he has played practically no part in our season thus far, and i had high hopes for his impact ) and our coaching group. Both have enough time to redeem themselves, but probably not enough to help the team make finals. May obviously didnt exect our fitness standards to be as high as the were, and he was found out. The Coaching group didnt implement a plan B early enough (mainly due to not being prepared for our huge injury toll), and were also found out. The ultra-high press should have been changed much earlier in the season than it was. TMac also gets a very special mention. I find myself not being disappointed in Trac, because my hopes were not overly high to begin with. His ceiling is nowhere near the hype imo. If i read "Melbourne's midfield bull" one more time............... Surprises for me are Hore and Frosty. Hore has slotted in beautifully and deserves his spot even when we have a full list to choose from. Frosty, because he has been one of the very few players on our list who has actually improved this year. He still has chook-with-his-head-cut-off moments, but you cant deny his improvement under exceptional circumstances.

Probably not a lot of people interested in who gets a Guernsey because our season has been so rank. It shouldnt come as a surprise that most MFC supporters dont really give a you-know- what when we are languishing near the bottom of the ladder (Again) Everything AFL becomes more interesting when we all feel invested, because we are doing well. We need to start winning again ....pronto. Nothing personal LH.

We know the club is almost rock bottom when posters like @Wiseblood have given up telling everyone to be positive after a loss. Where has he and @ProDee disappeared to i wonder...... Our season has taken its toll on plenty already and it will only get worse after the Collingwood game. Guess we have the cricket to follow for a while. "Go the cheaters"!!!

The idea of rushing back players who have been out for long periods is just nuts.Season is gone, so stop the bloody desperation selections and only pick players on form. Hannan proved it, and JKH to a lesser extent. May played well, so he deserves the recall. Lever has not. I really hope he plays at least once more in the 2's to find some form. Dont risk underdone players when the season is already over.

Cant get off the ground, and useless when the ball hits the deck. Yeah nah.

Look at the teams we have beaten, and the manner in which we won. Then look at the teams we have been beaten by, and the manner in which we lost those games. The Crows arent a great team, but we will be lucky to still be in this match at halftime imo. P.S. Goody to mention "connection/s" at least 2 times in the post match presser.
-
Spargo still in makes me suspect we have stopped trying to win, while Hannan in with no demonstrated form reeks of desperation. Spargo = bad form = stays in Hannan = No form = comes in I have given up trying to understand our selections this year. The club has lost the plot and become more and more desperate, whilst the team has shown no signs of improvement. God what a cluster-[censored] of a season. I picked a bad year to quit glue sniffing.

I dont want Lever in the seniors until his form is good. "OK" form isnt anywhere near enough to justify his return. A fit-but-not-in-form Jake Lever wont be the difference between us playing finals and missing out IMO. Let him earn it. Properly earn it.
-
Not kidding at all really. Our midfield depth is not as flash as many think. Jones will be gone soon, and it could easily come to pass that one or 2 of our alleged "guns" refuse to extend/ask for trade if we dont improve drastically. Cameron would cost so much of our cap that it would make the rumors of disharmony in the ranks (because of the money some recent recruits are on) even louder. I would LOVE Cameron as he is a genuine game-breaker. We just cant afford to take another massive risk cost-wise until our last 2 big name recruits start paying dividends.

Midfield, Midfield, Midfield. After that, its the midfield. Maybe then we can look at selling the farm for a forward saviour..... coz that has worked out really well for our backline thus far. Mids. Then more mids. Good ones.

Its obvious that speed is one of the teams major deficiencies, along with silky skill. That in mind, i can see Goodwin insisting that we draft the player who can say "Connection going forward" with perfect enunciation, in the shortest possible time. He will also insist that they remain unflappably positive even after dropping several vowels in a row, and slurring the last 10 words. Actual footballing ability not to be considered. Because MFC.

Why doesnt anyone want to talk about Lever?... He is the reason most will read this thread.

Thank god i have to go to work now. This is unwatchable. Enjoy the game if you can.

GWS lead the possession count but are also in front 17-5 in tackles. Not bloody good enough.
-
Our wins have been against ordinary teams, and have been by small margin coz we can't kick straight. Wet weather (if it happens) today will just make that problem even worse. Yes GWS has a poor record at the G , but ours is no better so we cant take any confidence from the venue. We might go hard enough to prevent a blowout, but thats the best we can expect imo. Finals are still possible though....................... *cough cough.
