Farewell Jesse Hogan
Looking forward to some humble pie serving if this actually happens. There were some really arrogant dismissals and personal attacks early on in this thread when someone dared to entertain trading Hogan. I suspect the worst offenders wont have the agates to admit they got it wrong if it comes about. You know who you are.

We both look like Danny Devito.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Totally agree. I was just making the point that we would not get Whitfield for a solitary first rounder.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
You would need to add our first rounder from next year AT LEAST to get Whitfield. I would do that without hesitation

Thanks Cameron Pedersen
Good luck in the future Cam. I respect your efforts for our club, especially when we were a rabble. Never sooked or carried on when out of the seniors. never stopped giving your best. Others could take a lesson from you. Respected club man, and I really hope he maintains contact with the MFC to share the good times when they come. Cya Pedo.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
I see Chairman Dan, Dear Leader, has promised a truckload of money to once again ( porkbarrel )upgrade Geelongs home stadium to the tune of $102 million... Has he also made any announcements on some crumbs being thrown our way for our shiny new proposal? It has gone quiet lately. Hoping its still on the boil somehow. Anyone have news? Maybe @Ethan Tremblay

Farewell Jesse Hogan
And thats what it would take. 2 high first rounders is about right for Hogan based on recent years horsetrading, but he obvs has to WANT to leave us..... and who in their right mind would?

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
At the very least, i like the sound of a " Peter Jackson Boardroom" or something like that. If it gets up he deserves a permanent mention somewhere in the building.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
If he nominates us we have more leverage in the trade. Recon a third rounder for someone who didnt play at all this year would be enough.

Draft for mids, trade for talls, although in this case if he is likely to be delisted then its just a list spot and some salary cap. We are in desperate need of backup for Max. This seems like a smart move if we are indeed looking at Preuss. Not the worst going around and still has some development left in him. (only 23 i think) Yes from me. Edit: i see he is contracted until 2020 so we would need to trade. Still he shouldnt cost more than a 3rd rounder at worst.

Bernie Vince Retires
Well loved by everyone who knows him, and with good reason. We owe him big time for coming to us when we were such a joke of a team. Plenty of others said no. All the best Bernie. You deserve to have a great retirement bloke. The extra salary cap room might also be helpful this trade period........

Farewell Jesse Hogan
100% it would be enough, especially considering how strong this draft is reported to be. Hogan doesnt want to be traded so it wont happen. (Either way we cant lose. If we dont want to rely on the draft, those two picks are huge currency for an on-trade . We are in the window)

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Disagree. Respectfully. I think he has the talent to kick much more than 50 in a season. He has the talent to be a 70+ per year forward, but only if he rids himself of the 2 terrible habits i mentioned earlier. He wont do the first until he has done the second. If the MFC is as professional as i think it has become, more than one person inside the club would have told him that already. He is a deadset gun, who has been selling himself short.

Hogans value is stagnant, not improving. It is very high, but should be higher based on his huge talent. IF, and only if, it was him who wanted to leave, of course you would trade him. I would want 2 high picks, or a very good player and a high pick, but I would still trade. If Danger is tradeable, anyone is tradeable. Hogan is a great player, but he has some bloody awful habits he needs to get rid of to get the best out of himself. The first is his staging/complaining. Jesse could be much more influential in games if he stopped wasting time staging and complaining to the umps. Wayne Carey is the best example of how umpires are influenced by a players behavior. He was famous for not just being a brilliant player (and he was) but also constantly whining to the umps or being outright abusive to them when a decision didn't go his way. Hogan doesn't abuse, but he does complain all the time if he doesn't get paid frees. No umpire has ever changed their mind because a player complained. You might think this isn't relevant, but Carey is only 53rd on the all-time list of Brownlow votes, and will probably drop another 2 places this year. (Fyfe and Cotchin should both pass him) I would argue that the umps didn't look favorably on him because of the way he behaved towards them. Hogan MUST get this part of his game sorted or he will never reach his (huge) potential. The other thing he needs to improve is his second efforts. Cant remember the game, but he was involved in one goal late in the season when he contested a mark, and then chased down the player who picked up the spillage with a great tackle, which resulted in a goal to Garlett or some other small forward (Im sure someone will remember the actual game and fill in the blanks. Jesse ended up pointing towards the goal while his teammate kicked the goal) I remember the play specifically because it was so RARE to see a second effort from Jesse. He smashed that contest, and it was brilliant to see. Shame is that it happens so infrequently. Clean up those 2 things and he could easily be a 70 goal a year forward. Until then, he is not untradeable for the right price.

Bombers fans are convinced Gaff will nominate them. Im not so sure. Polec has been offered a fortune at North, and Port are preparing for him to take it. Reckon Shiel is a big chance to get to Essendon if they dont get Gaff. Glad we have finals to focus on this year.

Polec has been offered superstar money from North. Plenty at Port expect him to take the money. North will get their couple of signings, but they will be out of the market for years when they do. We just have to hope that we can show more promise success-wise to help us land some good players on slighty less coin. Reaching finals soon means more to our future than some admit.

North will take anyone who is prepared to come to them. It's not that much different to MFC from 5-10 years ago. The main difference IMO is that Norf is getting in before they bottom out, whereas we thought we were on the bottom and thought we were on the way up with all our high draft picks. North has performed well this year due to an easy draw, not because of their list. They KNOW they don't have much time left before they bottom out big time. It will be a long rebuild for the Kangas if they cant snag a couple of guns with all the cash they are offering up, but even then, a couple of good players won't get them a premiership. This time around, we have gone about it the way good teams do... build the basis of a premiership team from the draft, and trade for the missing pieces. Norf are us from a few years back... paying overs for decent players just to get someone to take the bait. (First signing will probably be Aaron Hall on big coin). Sainters will be the same this year. I have never been a fan of being "patient", in fact the last decade has shitted me to tears, but the Dees are showing that a slow, considered, focused rebuild is really the best way to go about it. Im a believer.

Watch the Nathan Jones interview on the club website and it also has a couple of hints that we are certainly in the hunt. I have very strongly suspected for months that we are a huge chance, and nothing from the past couple of days dampens that hope.

They didnt want Melbourne punished for something we had no hand in?

So he gets 10 weeks and plays his first game for us in round 4 or 5 Might just debut in the same game that Lever returns. I can live with that
