Our use of the ball is woeful. Not sure what these guys did for the last six months but they can't hit the side of a barn. Our trade mark 'hand pass to a guy in a worse position' was on display today. We struggle putting together more than 4 consecutive possession without turning the ball over. On a positive note we won 2 quarters and nealy drew the last. Seller presented well and showed he can be a fill in until Mitch is back.

Totally agree. The interchange rotation has been fully exploited and needs to be rained in. Will make games on the smaller grounds like docklands and scg more bearable to watch.

There were at least 15 players running around for Melbourne who wouldn't be in the best 22. Saying that, fringe players like seller, jetta, magner, gillies and kent all showed that they can potentially cement thier spot. Slightly disappointed that tynan and Taggert didn't show more on the day and that Fitzgerald still has a long way to go. Sylvia was probably asking himself "wtf am I doing playing in the middle of nowhere in 30 degree weather". He played exactly the way he was thinking. Davey tried hard but seems to go missing too often. Overall, it's encouraging that our true seconds side managed to rustle up a win. Their tenacity got them over the line. There are however some obvious concerns: skill errors, poor decisions and not being able to control possession. Lets just hope that these errors are confined to our seconds side.

Disposals were about even in the GF. I'm not for gathering disposals for the sake of it but we do need to control the footy and play the game on our terms.

Still not sure how many games we are likely to win in season proper with less disposals than the opposition.
