  1. It's a shame I couldn't fit more players in. Jack Assflat just missed the cut and that's a bummer because he always had a crack and gave some cheek.
  2. Agreed, HT. Doesn't sound anything like it. Hope all goes well with your treatment and you're back on stage before too long.
  3. Not a suburb.
  4. Suggestions welcome! Brayanbrook is not a suburb by the way.
  5. This is the team that Victoria would send out against any interstate interlopers. B: Mary Borough Rose Dale Edith Vale H/B: Jan Juc Cath Cart Raven Hall C: Eden Hope Caroline Springs Brook Lyn H/F: Heather Ton Win Slow Glad Stonepark F: Nat Imuk Lily Dale Violet Town R: Mari Byrnong Fern Treegully Bessie Belle I/C: Lis More Jan Court Rose Bud Mary Knoll SUB: Rose Brook COACH: Myrtle Ford
  6. The AFL have asked me to compile the best teams of all time from these two zones. Which do you think is superior? Compare the pair ... Could any other State produce such strong sides? VIC METRO B: Ash Burton William Stown Glen Roy H/B: Campbell Field Mel Tonsouth Ken Sington C: Ivan Hoe Donny Brook Heath Mont H/F: Chad Stone Beau Maris Carl Tonnorth F: Al Tona Thomas Town Don Caster R: Hugh Esdale Mordi Alloc Mick Leham I/C: Syd Enham Cam Berwell Glen Huntly Dan Denong SUB: Frank Ston COACH: Mel Bourne VIC COUNTRY B: Leon Gatha Ben Digo Glen Thompson H/B: Alfred Ton Peter Borough Heath Cote C: Alex Andra Mal Lacoota Col Eraine H/F: Robin Vale Mort Lake Leo Pold F: Heath Mere Seb Astopol Trent Ham R: Beau Fort Kirk Stall Col Binabbin I/C: Stan Hope Mil Dura Wallace Dale Mal Don SUB: Den Nington COACH: Tim Boon
  7. I thought "Richard the Third" was rhyming slang and far more applicable to Dayne Zorko than to Clarry.
  8. Do you reckon they may have been ... ummmm ... "influenced" by this 1966 recording? As far as favourite songs go, that would change from day to day and be impossible to rank.
  9. He sure was. Good enough in fact to win a Melbourne Best & Fairest, make the All Australian team, represent his state (SA) on seven occasions and play in two SANFL Premiership teams. Danny was also our stand-in Captain when we won the night Grand Final (Panasonic Cup) in 1987 because R. Flower was out injured. His regular battles with Brian Taylor were a highlight. They didn't seem too keen on each other!
  10. I've never heard of either of these two.
  11. I think she works in a different field of entertainment altogether.
  12. Paul Seedsman (Adelaide) has had to retire due to concussion issues. No offence to the guy, but I didn't even realise he was still on a list.
  13. I never played footy at a senior level, but I know you do @dazzledavey36. Do players really try harder just because it's a teammates' milestone game or if they're retiring (ref. Franklin)?
  14. With scattered references to "strike a chord", "midnight oil" and "mental as anything", I'm surprised that more people didn't make the music connection. All the players in my team share a surname with an Australian musician. Below is the team of musicians. Some surnames match more than one first name (eg Angus/George/Malcolm Young, Ross/Chris Wilson, Paul/Sean Kelly) but I've gone with the name that first occurred to me. B: Colin HAY Clare MOORE Rowland S. HOWARD H/B: Ross WILSON Paul STEWART Angus YOUNG C: Tex PERKINS Kevin PARKER Paul KELLY H/F: 'Greedy' SMITH Jimmy BARNES Chris BAILEY F: John BUTLER Kim SALMON Mick HARVEY R: Jim WHITE 'Angry' ANDERSON Spencer P. JONES I/C: Missy HIGGINS Don WALKER Ben GILLIES Lindy MORRISON COACH: Bon SCOTT
  15. Our other "almost there" solver @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew has done enough to join the list of winners after being driven mental (as anything) all night working it out.
  16. Jack Riewoldt (Richmond) is the latest veteran to announce his departure from AFL. I never warmed to him but acknowledge that he had an excellent career.
  17. Well done to @Jumping Jack Clennett for burning the midnight oil and cracking the puzzle. No other responses have been received but I'll let it go until lunchtime today before the big reveal. Old mate @binman has never participated in these teasers but, if you're reading this, please don't think you've been forgotten about binny. In recognition of your sustained stellar posting, I bought you a book as well. I trust you find it useful.
  18. Where can you find out which players each coach voted for?
  19. Young George Gawn is not quite two years old but is reportedly already taller than Charlie Spargo. Demon fans should also be rapt than George's middle name is ... Oliver! (Nickname GOG?)
  20. Both @Jumping Jack Clennett and @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew are very close to the answer but neither has quite nailed it just yet. Clue #4: The answer consists of two elements. I'm not sure what other clues I can provide that might strike a chord with Demonlanders. The teaser can carry over to Tuesday given the shortage of solvers. I thought it was an easy one, too!
  21. You have to play to get votes.
  22. Clue #3: The "Bailey" reference was a red herring and has no relevance to the solution. (Sorry, not sorry. )
  23. Despite the fact he hasn't played for two years, the All-Australian selectors will find a place for him in the squad.
  24. Clue #2: Although there is a local connection, the answer is not related to footy or any other sport.
  25. Oh, a wise guy eh?
