Training Ground?
My dear old grandfather was very familiar with turf. He smoked about 30 of them a day.

Why?

Ranking the Wing Dynamic Duos
Just missed out but could get a gig as the injury sub. He'd be great for team morale. I can just picture him running around after we score a goal and handing out the high four and a halves to his teammates.

2022 Free Kick Differential
I still have a little booklet (12 x 7.5cm) from 1964 titled "Laws of the Australian National Game of Football", distributed by the manufacturers of Viscount Cigarettes (!), with the approval of the Australian National Football Council. As you might expect, the rules are few and quite straightforward. As you might also expect, the booklet contains advertising for Viscount which in those days sold for 3 bob (30 cents) for a pack of 20. A handball is defined as "holding the ball in one hand and hitting it with the other hand".

NON-MFC: Round 6, 2022
It's one of those games where you're dirty that one team will have a win but ecstatic that one of them will lose. A draw would be my preferred result with both teams feeling like they missed out. edit: I'm talking about the Collingwood v Essendon game.

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Richmond
Daniel Turner? I don't think he's played a game this year because of injury and, when fit, would make his comeback at Casey to continue his development as a promising defender.

AFL Friend or Foe
It was James Kelly wasn't it? I have always enjoyed defeating Collingwood more than any other team and probably always will. In a blanket finish for second most disliked, I'd nominate Essendon, Carlton, Geelong, Richmond and Hawthorn. It's probably no coincidence that these teams have won multiple flags and regularly belted us over the years.

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Richmond
It was mentioned that Matt Buntine is due back soon after suffering a calf injury. I know many posters have been wondering why he hasn't made an appearance yet.
-
TEAMS: Rd 06 vs Richmond
The "changes" thread becomes redundant once the teams are announced and is duly locked. What do other posters think of the idea that this "teams" thread should be combined with the match day thread instead of having both running and often discussing the same issues?

What They Are Saying at Punt Road
It's all relative I guess. The basic wage in 1968 was $1.35 an hour so $1.25 for a soft cover book sounds right. These days it's about $20 an hour which would probably buy you a similar book.

That's .... very hard to believe. Are there any images of this alleged banner?

TEAMS: Rd 06 vs Richmond
We should know more by late this afternoon when final teams for Sunday are announced.

What They Are Saying at Punt Road
Some posters on this forum are no better with their use of such childish, cringeworthy terms as "Whorethorn", "West Coke", "Essendrug" and "Jeelong".

I would have thought that such matters would be handled in private by the players' managers.

The very, very contentious 50 for Dissent Rule

CHANGES: Rd 06 vs Richmond
I don't reckon his form 12 months ago should have any bearing on selection this week.

2022 Injury List
None of us know why Daw had to go off so it's a bit premature to assume it was due to anything untoward. It would be nice to find out the reason he was unable to return after quarter time.

What They Are Saying at Punt Road
On the title page it says "Written by Jack Dyer and Brian Hansen". I would wager that Jack did very little, if any, of the actual writing! The book, which was published in 1968 by Southdown Press, cost $1.25 for the soft cover edition. Apart from Mopsy Fraser, there are also chapters on Ron Barassi, John Coleman, Murray Weideman, Carl Ditterich, Ted Whitten, Bob Skilton, John Peck and Norm Smith, five of whom have a past or present connection to Melbourne. To call all these players "Wild Men" is drawing the longest of bows.
