  1. This from the AFL site: "Jake played [for Casey] today and he's the second ruck and the logical option, but we'll sit down during the week and assess what we're going to do," Goodwin said. Spencer had around 30 hit-outs, 12 disposals and kicked a goal for Casey in its 31-point victory over Werribee in a VFL practice match on Saturday. Footnote: Apparently the match was called off just after 3/4 time because of thunder storms.
  2. Spencer for Gawn is obvious. I'll keep my powder dry on the 'ins' until we have some feedback from Casey's 3/4 practice match today, but Hannan has struggled for the last two weeks as has Weid.
  3. 6. Jones - every bit as inspiring as Dangerwood (yes, both combined!) 5. Hunt - ferocious attack on the ball and man. Never let up all day. 4. Watts - ran himself into the ground for the team today. Just a pity we couldn't play him up forward as well 3. Stretch - had the ball on a string (especially in the first half), and for the most part he used it pretty well. 2. Kent - excellent pressure up forward and great vision ....... but we needed him to nail a couple of those missed shots! 1. ANB - a 'workhorse' all day. Got plenty of it and laid a heap of tackles. Would have rated higher but for a bit of wonky decision making and disposal under pressure.
  4. Effort was top shelf. Kicking for goal was under the counter (but occasionally those days just happen). A win in the circumstances would have been unbelievable. A loss is hard to take, but I'm just so proud of our boys. In a strange, perverted sort of way, Melbourne might have arrived today.
  5. I love the air of quiet confidence that many posters have going into this game (it's been a long time since we've seen that before a match against the Cats!). For whatever reason, I've shared this confidence all week, and it's been reinforced by the decisions made around the selection table. It's impossible to say that our lineup isn't weakened by the MRP 'lottery', but I love the competitive look of our team today. I really think we can win, and have the the football world start talking Melbourne in a serious vein.
  6. We are underdogs with the media and bookies, and I don't mind that at all.. I reckon we'll be in it for a long, long way, and I'm quietly confident we'll have our noses in front at the end. No MFCSS from me!.
  7. Luey said he'd be spending the next three matches in the coaches box. I like it, but not as much as I'd like it if he was out on the field.
  8. I thought TMacs chat with the media was very good: Media conference: Tom McDonald . Tonight's AFL 360 will be interesting. Like you chook, I'll be hoping for a bit if contrition from Luey, then we can all put this issue to bed..
  9. Both Hogan and Lewis were undisciplined and stupid to do what they did. The MRP are guilty of handing down sanctions that don't stack up, no matter what angle you are coming from. I'm just gutted. It's certainly taken some of the gloss off being 2 zip. Time for the Dees to take this setback in their stride. Show the football world that we are the real deal and stare down the face of adversity.
  10. 6. Salem - hard, courageous and sublime skills. He arrived today! 5. Jones - consistent ball winner in the clinches and used it well . Great leadership 4. Oliver - prolific, but skills a bit off compared to last week. 3. Jetta - tough and unrelenting. Neat disposal. 2. Garlett - sharp and quick and developing his defensive game 1. TMac - very reliable and used it well
  11. Winning ugly is so much better than a creditable loss. I'll be saving the Grange for another day, but sleeping easy tonight.
  12. I think I get it D_J. We want to 'raisehell' but not to let it 'break loose'.
  13. Consider installing the 'beyondblue' number on my 'phone ................. (just kidding).
  14. I expect that I'm like most Demonlanders: dreading the possibility of a loss, expecting a 5 or 6 goal win and hoping we give them a damn good belting.
  15. I 100% agree. I live in the godforsaken place, and I'm certain they will never have the support to warrant an AFL team. The Raiders (League) and Brumbies (Union) struggle to get 15,000 to a game.
  16. From where I sit on the outside, Tracc's 'attitude' seems to be exactly what's required from an emerging AFL star. He seems to have a fierce desire to succeed, both individually and as part of a team; he has the work ethic to match this desire, both on gameday and on the training track; he seems to have a positive approach to recovery (who will forget the video of his ACL rehab in the US?); he seems very popular amongst his team mates and to enjoy their company; and he seems to be a good listener and learner (I'm loving the way he has become a team player first while still retaining his individuality ...... especially evident this season imo). Sorry about the 'ramble', but there are both good (Viney) and bad (Sylvia) 'attitudes'. Tracc has the former!.
  17. Something like SAMSUNG would also be good. A brand that almost everyone can relate to, including the kids.
  18. I'd love to see 'raisehell' on our membership bumper stickers!
  19. No need to elevate anyone at this stage. Wait until someone stakes a strong claim for senior selection through performances for Casey.
  20. Just said to my Dees supporting better half, that the skills on show by both teams tonight are akin to Melbourne's very worst over the last decade ........... and I don't think that's an exaggeration!
  21. I'm intrigued by the absence of Bugg, Had a much better JLT than Harmes imo, and was game-day emergency last week.
  22. Great work guys. A brilliant addition to Demonland, and I'm very much looking forward to future episodes. Thank you very much!!
  23. Reading that chronology made me feel cold and empty. God knows how I would feel if Carlton somehow beat us on Sunday afternoon ........ but thankfully they wont! This is the new Melbourne! We are too united, too professional, too driven, too focussed, too talented and too well coached to let that scum prolong our dreadful run of round 2 losses.
  24. This gives some clues mono: Trio in the mix for call-up Tyson and Harmes likely to get a call up imo.
