  1. Any chance you were sitting behind Eth38 Kev?
  2. I'm absolutely thrilled for the lad. He has had to put up with more $h!t than any other early draft pick that I can remember, and he is coming through it brilliantly. One of very few shining lights in an otherwise dismal season. Well done Jack!
  3. I hate seeing these sorts of injuries for anyone, let alone a Dee! Good luck for a speedy and complete recovery Straussy!
  4. Absolutely! It's about sticking to team disciplines, doing the team things ALL of the time, not just when it suits. The only snag in the argument is that there should be a few others at Casey tomorrow as well. After today's performance against Carlton, their turn might come next week.
  5. A bit better than last week. I can find 6 four quarter efforts (if I stretch it a bit!). Very sad really: 6. Joel Mac 5. Watts 4. Trengove 3. Howe 2. Martin 1. Garland
  6. A bit off subject Old Dee, but if you havn't already done so, try a bottle of the 2009 Emblem Shiraz from our sponsor Tyrrell's Wines, Heathcote vinyard. A lovely drop and extremely good value for MFC members and supporters. The label features our Emblem, of course. Guaranteed to ease some of the pain of the last week.
  7. The new coach, whoever that might be, will want to hand pick his own entourage. Even if it were Tod Viney, I expect he would want to hand-pick his own lieutenants.
  8. A good article imo, even though I don't agree with all of it. Well worth the read.
  9. I very much like your way of viewing this hangon. The 'dark before the dawn' that we had to have!! ...... and I'm definitely not being patronising. You can be a wise old monkey sometimes.
  10. I didn't see TFS so I don't know the context, but it seems like a legitimate comment to me. Right now we are not a great Club, more like a wreck of a club with a great history. Actually, it's been a very long time since we were a great club.
  11. Conversely, he may have been playing with a foot injury for several weeks, which could account for his form slump.
  12. I agree ..... and nobody from Casey was exactly putting up their hands for promotion. Next week is the time to drop the 'wanna be leaders' if they serve up crap against the scum. They have the message, no more [censored]-footing around with selections, we are fair dinkum, 'respond or you're out'!
  13. Now that's making a statement which needed to be made. Too many were too 'comfortable', and resting on their laurels. The message should now be very clear to others who would also have been on the cusp of demotion. I like it!
  14. Get some signatures quickly before the queue jumpers get active. The scum beat us to Mars and b'dogs stole Mission from our grasp.
  15. Heartbreaking news. Keep fighting Jim, you don't deserve this. It makes the stuff at the footy club seem so insignificant.
  16. I know times have changed and the media play a much greater role these days, but Norm Smith managed fine with Barassi as his captain. Both Smithy, Barass and some players from that era have all commented that the father /son relationship resulted in Smithy being harder on Barass than his team-mates. If push came to shove, I don't see a problem with Todd and Jack as senior coach and player.
  17. Sorry, but that's an impossible task you have set us there.
  18. 6. Jordie McKenzie 5. Jack Watts 4. ? Both of these players were well beaten on the day, but at least they can walk away knowing they gave everything for the club and jumper. The rest should hang their heads in shame ...
  19. Jeepers,it sounds like they've caught the Dees Disease. Obviously there aren't too many Dees putting their hands up for elevation next week.
  20. Totally agree WJ. I also think some people are far too quick to forget how generous Brock was to Debt Demolition. IMO, his decision to move on was more because he knew that he was slipping behind in the mid-field pecking order at Melbourne. We shouldn't crucify him for that! It's just a case of a player whose body has let him down far too often, and whose skill-set is being surpassed in the modern game. Edit: remove superfluous word
  21. Jamie was recruited from Swan Districts in WA. I think he played most of his junior footy in a rural area south of Perth.
  22. Yes, he is definitely a keeper at this stage. I like your last sentence ..... I reckon "timid, knockabout kid" is probably a very apt description. I see where you are coming from with the Byron Pickett reference, but I'd settle for an injection of Nev Jetta. Come to think of it, a Bennell /Jetta hybrid, with an engine upgrade, would be a bloody good footballer.
  23. I wanted to buy Hankooks, but got stuffed around big time by the only nominated outlet here in the ACT. Same applied to a mate who tried to buy them a couple of months earlier, and finally gave up. Not to be denied, I shopped around and ended up at Bob Jane. They don't normally stock Hankooks, but were prepared to order them in for me, and even gave me the discount! More importantly, the tyres now have almost 20,000kms on them (I do quite a few trips to the G), and I couldn't be happier with them. I'm very happy that I went to a bit of trouble to support our sponsor.
  24. Bennell has exceptional pace and ball-handling skills, and generally uses the ball pretty well when he gets it. His problem is that he doesn't get to enough contests (some would argue that he avoids them!). While I'm not in that camp, he is definitely an outside player, who needs to work harder at winning his own ball. For me he has been a major disappointment this year, after what was reported to be an excellent pre-season. I see the potential, but it's now time to deliver.
