  1. Having re-watched Open Mike from 2009, it just reinforced in my mind how good a coach Brett Kirk would be if he decided to coach Melbourne. A year or two as Roosy's understudy, and the transition from Roos to Kirk would be seamless. That's what we want!
  2. Another key pillar is now in place .... PJ, PR and now JH. A few more of the player variety are still required, but in anyone's language it's outstanding progress in less than 12 months. We have dreamed of success for far too long .... but in a few years we might be able to touch it!
  3. An outstanding commitment by Jesse .............. an outstanding investment by the Melbourne Football Club. Our star is most definitely on the rise, in every sense of the word. Edit: I spelled his name wrong. Better not do that on Demonland!
  4. Posted Yesterday, 03:18 PM 6 - Jamar 5 - Howe 4 - Viney 3 - Grimes 2 - Vince 1 - Watts
  5. We've all read what Brett Allison had to say about Dom Barry's form for Casey last weekend, and today Nathan Jones has chipped in with: "He's (Barry) really athletic, he's got a great running capacity and he's a pretty good ball user and he really loves the contest as well, ............ He's pretty competitive and it'll be really exciting if he gets his opportunity." I must admit that I have seen very little of Dom, but he's obviously done what has been asked of him in recent times. On that basis alone he's probably earned a call-up, at least more-so than the likes of Nicho, Blease, et al . I say give Dom him an opportunity. The others have had their chances and failed to flatter, or (apparently) to overcome their shortcomings..
  6. Brad Scott would find a way to do it if he could. He hates Melbourne.!
  7. I share your reservation nutbean, but we have to make at least two changes, and based on last weekend's form, Dom seems closest to 'knocking the door down' for a senior gig, Also, he has been playing a negating role recently, so it can be argued that to some extent he is 'like for like' with either Cross or Mckenzie. Some interesting decisions to be made around the selection table this week, and they might give some insight into current thinking on list management decisions to be made later this year.
  8. The author of post # 350 might know!
  9. Agree. Fitz is currently better and has more upside.
  10. Based on the Allison report, it's hard to go past Dom Barry as an inclusion this week. Roosy loves role players, and it seems that Dom played his role really well for Casey. Terlich, who didn't play VFL last weekend, will be the other inclusion (already foreshadowed by Roos). Given the glaring shortcomings on display at Casey on Sunday, it's hard to see see more than the two compulsory changes for the Dees, even though Salem, Riley and a few others showed very little against North.
  11. 6. Vince 5. Cross 4. Watts 3. Dunn 2. N Jones 1. Dawes
  12. ................ and winning that granny would be the best! (for all of us, at least). ps. Port may have a reasonable case to mount over the next year or two
  13. Bug guns against weapon-less bombers!
  14. Back to back wins for the first time in god knows how long will be an important milestone in our development. If it comes against the Kangas, who have had the wood on us for an eternity, it would be even more significant. It will be a tough match in the trenches, but I'm backing the Dees to make a huge statement, and keep Essendon off the back page of Monday's Herald Sun.
  15. When I first met Mrs Deeoldfart nearly 50 years ago she was a rabid Bulldogs supporter. Being a smart girl, she soon realised that converting to my beloved Demons was an integral part of the 'package'. The transition took a little while, but she's now a Demon through and through, and we have established a flourishing lineage of proud Deeoldfart Demons. I long for the day when their 'unflagging' support is rewarded with a Flag, and I'll wager that you do too!
  16. Playing four quarters like Sunday's last 90 seconds would attract a bit of attention I reckon.
  17. Nev is a 'fair dinkum' footballer who would have slotted into defence equally as well in the 1950s, 1960s and 70s. He has no special 'gifts' as a footballer, but what he lacks in flair, he makes up for in guts and determination, and a fierce desire to make the most of every last little bit he has to offer. Huge testament to Nev and the coaching staff.
  18. I totally agree dr. I've generally been ambivalent about North over the years, even though they seem to have had the wood on us for a long time ...... but Brad Scott's outspoken comments about Melbourne not deserving a priority pick in last year's draft really got up my nose, and I now hate him and his team with a passion. Sick it up 'em dees!!
  19. Bloody hell mate. I'm struggling to get to the medicine cabinet!
  20. After the Richmond win I enjoyed a classy bottle of red. Tonight I'm reaching for the viagra!
  21. 6. Dunn - Outstanding game. Going from strength to strength, to strength!. 5. N.Jones - Led from the front as usual, and must surely be heading for AA 4. Kent - Very good. Strong, hard, quick and added a new dimension to our forward line. 3. Jetta - Very dependable. Hard, courageous and very reliable with ball in hand. 2. Grimes - Similar to Jetta who just pipped him imo. 1. Watts - Work rate up and back was excellent, and his class showed through on a number of occasions. ,
  22. I reckon we will win comfortably, but won't get the credit for it. It will be all about Essendon's 'outs' and the impact the drugs saga had on their players.
  23. 'Drain' Russell: "mark of the year". Often for the third time in the match.
  24. I agree Jaded, but it's really encouraging that we now have sufficient depth on our list to be able to drop a defender who, as you say, has been defensively good all year. It's fantastic that for the first time in years we can now afford to let players with obvious flaws go back to Casey to work on addressing them (a la Jodie McKenzie). There's no point letting them get 'comfortable' in our best 22..
  25. I'm not sure what you are saying od. Is it that none of the 'four' have not improved under Roos? or just some of the 'four'? Of the 'four' I reckon Dunn improved considerably in 2013, but has taken his game to a new level under Roos. The others have come from pretty much 'nowhere' imo.
