  1. Whately checked with the AFL today and confirmed that Mitch is still on Melbourne's list. The speculation was that it would take their first rounder for Freo to land him if the Dees were prepared to trade. I reckon it's all just a media beat up, but we can always hope ......... after all, that's all we have survive on these days.
  2. I believe you gsmith. If we had jumped on the bandwagon in 1987, we would sure as hell have jumped off again by now!
  3. Western Oval was the best place on the planet on the last Saturday in August 1987.
  4. This reflects what Paul Roos had to say in yesterday's post match presser, and it applies particularly to those players who had no, or limited pre-seasons. It makes some sense, or at least I'm gullible enough to buy into that line of thinking. ps. I'm only a supporter but I'm tired too, and very much looking forward to the off-season and the new hope that it will inevitably bring.
  5. Don't worry, the pain will end after next Saturday.
  6. 6. Vince 5. N.Jones 4. Cross 3. Tyson 2. Bail 1. Fitz
  7. The only thing worse than Melbourne tonight is the commentary team of Brereton and Shaw. Our football is disgraceful, but I won't even try to put my view of those two into words.
  8. I agree with you Dr., that it's unfair to hold Frawley's departure against him. Like it or hate it, the system is in place and he has every right to use it to his advantage if he so chooses. However, what I find abhorrent is the b/s and carry-on about loving the Club and waiting until the end of the season to determine where his future lies. Leaders require integrity above everything else. Unfortunately, Frawley lost me a fair while ago, and it's hard for me to imagine that at least some of his team mates don't feel the same.
  9. Gee, it took me until yesterday arvo!!
  10. Excellent summary GOtO 'Member Appreciation Round' .... pffffft!!
  11. I keep trying to tell myself that it's only a game of football, but I'm haunted by the fact that I love this godforsaken club. How long can unrequited love prevail? God knows!
  12. All the players seemed to have long faces after the game, but don't be fooled by the charade. I could find only four who looked like they cared in the heat of battle: 6. N Jones 5. Gawn 4. Viney 3. Jetta 2. ............. 1. ......... Absolutely shameless ......................... oh, why should I bother!
  13. That rivals 186 as the most despondent I've ever felt as a Melbourne supporter. Our once proud club are at rock bottom. I'm heartbroken, shattered, totally gutted!
  14. Worst quarter for the year ........ bar none!!!!
  15. Your reply brought a smile to my face Demonsterative. It was just a bit of gentle pot-stirring on my part. I have total faith in the current administration to make the correct call for all the right reasons.
  16. Barry continued the run of relatively small full forwards that we had around that time, but in my view he really came into his own when he moved into defense. He also played a few seasons as an on-baller / ruck rover type. IIRC, all of his representative games for the 'Big V' were as a back pocket player, where he excelled.
  17. Always greatly appreciated Saty. 650 kms is just too far for me to make it to the Paddock.
  18. Surely, our current team of recruiters are too smart for that.
  19. I tend to agree Gorgoroth, but then I ponder whether it might mean 1,000, 2,000 or 3,000 additional members in 2015 if Hogan cameos with a handful of goals as season 2014 draws to a close. Unlikely I know, but the dollars are important as well, and just maybe, someone is thinking along these lines.
  20. I reckon JKH might possibly be showing the effects of long hard season on a kid playing against men for the first time. Nothing more!!
  21. Nev should be extremely proud of what he's achieved in the last 6 months. Hard work and the right attitude have transformed him from a bit-part VFL quality player to one of the best small defenders in the AFL. I'm delighted for him!
  22. 6. Jetta - heart as big as the 'G' 5. Tyson - tireless and mostly classy 4. Gawn - a definite part of the future 3. N. Jones - played like he always does 2. Cross - played like he always does 1. Jamar - very solid
  23. 6. Howe 5. McDonald 4. Jetta 3. Jones 2. Frawley 1. Tyson
  24. I agree with everything you say nutbean. However true loyalty can't be qualified, or made subject to certain prerequisites. Sadly, I also fully understand that declining loyalty is inevitable in today's game, and that ain't gonna change. The concept of 'team first' no longer extends beyond the field of play, so I and others who share my view better bloody well get used to it!
  25. Yeah, Buckley's body language was a dead give-away. No doubt they are chasing Frawley, if they don't already have him.
