  1. Thanks wayne, but jeez, I trust these are not the highlights!
  2. Roosy gets his revenge: Melbourne Demons v Sydney Swans - Round 17 ... - YouTube
  3. Couldn't agree more D'eyes. What a bloody wonderful place this is! Have a GREAT one my friends!!
  4. Gees, he's a chip off the old block. Give him a mullet and he's the spitting image of a young Bret.
  5. Blood is truly thicker than water where Jonesy is concerned. Fantastic for Nathan, our Club and us supporters.
  6. Absolutely not od. You have been spot on the money for all my life as a Demonlander .......... and that's exactly why I'm wetting myself with excitement about your prediction for 2015!
  7. Well I would never have believed it if I hadn't read it with my own eyes! I would have 'double liked' your post if that had been possible od.
  8. Next year should see us with an improved midfield and more run off HB. This will generate increased opportunities for a forward half which will contain more goal-kicking options as well as a bump-up in talent. It wouldn't surprise me if our average goals per game increased from around 10.5 to something like 13. My guess at the 10+ goal contributors is: Hogan 50 Garlett 38 Dawes 22 Vince 20 Tyson 18 Gawn 18 Howe 15 Kent 15 JKH 15 Watts 15 Petracca 12 Salem 12 Jones N 10
  9. Just the Dees ones: FULL SEASON PDF All the rest will be meaningless!
  10. I agree Jumbo ..... his teaching and leadership values to the team should not be underestimated. Hopefully 2015 will see him play most games and eliminate the occasional silly (team-costing) indiscretions.
  11. I'm not in favor of large leadership groups, but with a young, developing team especially, I can see merit in having one or two officially designated leaders in the back half, forward half and in the middle. The leaders need to be highly respected (looked up to) by their team mates, consistent best 22, and able to take charge on the field whenever circumstances demand it. In short, they need to be an on-field extension of the coaching box, a la Hodge, Lewis etc at Hawthorn. Given the influx of new / young Demons over the last couple of years, I'd like to see Roos and co. 'steer' the composition of our LG in what they believe to be the appropriate direction (rather than leaving its composition entirely up to the players). Something like the following would probably fit the bill from the vantage point of my armchair: N. Jones ©, Dawes (vc), Dunn, Cross and Viney. Having said that, I wouldn't want to see stupid (counter-productive) acts from Dawes and Dunn, who have shown this type of indiscretion in the past.
  12. As a Melbourne supporter, the thing that really appeals to me is that we are even having this discussion. At this time last year, anyone who suggested Howe playing in defence would copped the full force of Demonland ridicule. Credit to Howie and the coaching staff.
  13. Well from my (layman's) perspective, I reckon it's a bloody outstanding effort from all concerned ..... and there are two things that fill me with confidence for the future: I'm sure that those in charge will not be resting on their laurels, not for a moment; and I believe we are about to turn a significant corner as a football team, and that structures are being put in place to ensure that improvements in this area will be sustained (ie. no more bottoming-out). On-field success will increase exposure, and with it will come increased revenue through memberships, home-ground crowds and sponsorships etc. We may never become one of the so-called 'power clubs', but I reckon we will soon be moving out of the football 'slums' and towards the upper-middle class. Given where we have come from, I'll be satisfied with that, for a while at least. I'm loving what I'm seeing from my footy club right now.
  14. Seems that Arron has always had the talent, but now has the drive and work ethic to succeed. Good on him, he might just thrive in the 'new' Melbourne. Two-wheel turnaround
  15. Inspirational Jack, just like Joan Baez' music! I can't help believing that our beloved Demons are steering a carefully planned course from rust to diamonds. Let it be!
  16. I agree, and see it as another indication of the vastly improved professionalism at our footy club.
  17. ................ and the 'Pink Bible' that we bought every Saturday evening, so we could read about the latest Demon demolition.
  18. To us this announcement came completely 'out of the blue' but I wonder if the Club might have had an inkling that it was 'in the wind' ...... hence the silence on pick 40. Anyway, good luck Dom on reconnecting with your roots, and thanks for taking the Club into consideration in the timing of your decision.
  19. There's a greater chance of me giving up the grog than there is of me not renewing my membership!
  20. Great work by PJ and his troops, I expect!! Let's make it a regular fixture, and rotate home ground benefits
  21. ...... or, if those in charge believe that Tappy offers something that most of us don't see, they might 'throw him a lifeline' by offering to rookie listing him a la Nev Jetta last year.
  22. That seems like utter b/s to me. He's definitely a cut above imo.
  23. I'm not sure why, but right from the outset I had a 'soft spot for Nev Jetta ........... even though I thought he had too many limitations to truly make it as a regular AFL player, even in a lowly team like Melbourne. Neville Jetta season review. As it turned out, he is a perfect example of what self-belief, a great attitude, and a great deal of hard work can do to take 'fringe' players to key role players in a Paul Roos coached team. It got me thinking, who else on our list is ripe to make the transition from fringe player to automatic best 22? Can fellow Demonlanders help me out?
