Very tough luck for Ben who was working hard during the break, to improve his endurance and hopefully cement a spot in the side. 2016 is most likely a make or break season for him, and now he has to do it without the benefit of a pre-season. Good luck Ben!

Hmm. Just read about his escapades last night. Definitely does not fit the Roos no DH policy and now maybe more risk than reward ^ null post please!!

Great stuff, especially for interstaters who can't get to training. Thanks Tas and jacaub.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Deeoldfart replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can I change my vote on the other thread? Ha,ha -
I actually have nfi, but voted Curnow because of his strong body (Roos type of player), his potential to play mid or strong marking forward to support Hogan (versatility = another Roos type) and the 'high ceiling / game changing qualities' that some 'experts' are touting on his behalf. Many regard Curnow as a high risk / high reward selection, but Jason Taylor will not call his name at pick 3 unless he and his team are very confident about the high reward prospect. I have a gut feeling that they just might pull the trigger.

Like everyone else here, I can only guess at who we might select with these picks. However, I am 100% positive that I'll be thrilled with our selections come 08:30 on Tuesday evening. For the first time in eons, I know that our Club will be completely on top of the credentials of all the contenders, and that a couple of important pieces will be ticked off against a master plan. IMO the turn-around in our list has been nothing short of remarkable in a few short years, and right now, nobody could convince me that that we won't 'nail it' again. Yeah, I know I'm a sill old fart, but .....

Great signature for the MFC. PJ has been critical in turning the fortunes of our great Club around. Like all of us, he deserves to share in the spoils of our future success, and it's great to hear him say as much (in his typical under-stated way of course).

Thanks hardtack. Jonah was indeed an outstanding athlete, and his passing at the very young age of 40 is extremely sad.
-
Tom Bugg as a mid and goal kicker. He's definitely more than a 'depth player', as many have predicted.

Changing our theme song would be sacrilege!

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Deeoldfart replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
If this turns out to be a bona fide and accurate assessment, then we Demonlanders really have something to get excited about. Time will tell of course, but I can't help having very high hopes for our prospects over the next 5 years or so. -

2015 Player Review - # 37 Aaron vandenBerg (R)
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Vanders is rarely mentioned with the core group of mids who are expected to take the Dees to the next level (Jones, Viney, Brayshaw, Salem, Tyson and Petracca) but I think his name sits very comfortably with that lot. Our team is on the rise, and Vanders will be an important part of the journey! -
Baked beans on toast for dinner tonight!

Exciting times indeed 'Froggy' ...... and what fills me with anticipation is that I can see it building again now. I know I'm just a silly and optimistic old fart who's been besotted by this footy club for 60+ years, but I have a gut feel that we could be something special in the next 3 to 5 years, for exactly the reasons in the bolded sentence above.

Mrs oldfart has already put her once a year bet on Trip to Paris. "Why" I asked ........"because its colors are red and blue of course". I should have known.

2015 Player Review - # 30 Alex Neal-Bullen
Deeoldfart replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Very good debut season from Nibbler, and his upside is obvious to me. I can see him and his best mate Billy urging each other to greater heights for the red and blue for many years to come. -
On the one hand I agree with you bin, but on the other, a decision not to renew his contract would indicate to me that our Footy Dept. has confidence that it can improve our list by cutting him free and replacing him with someone new. I'll stick fat with the Footy Dept. on that one.
-
I sort of understand where you are coming from with that question DD, but Terlich did run third in a 'Bluey' around that time. Clearly, with the benefit of hindsight, two years would have been more pragmatic.
-
Definitely, even down to his flaxen locks. If we do draft him, and he turns out to be another 'stinger', all of us here (including the perennial 'Demonland doubters') will be over the moon!

Neita made a pretty good fist of it.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN

Mine too 'bub, not 'prongs' but nails. The umps inspected them before every game to ensure that the stops weren't worn down with the nail heads protruding. You could inflict a nice flesh wound with a pair of well worn stops. -
Nah. The way I read it is the Hawks were paying us back from when we took Matt Jones off the Box Hill list.

All part of the 'master plan'. Right now I couldn't be happier with my footy club! -
Renewing my Redlegs membership immediately! Brilliant work MFC!
