Paul Roos Steps Away from Fox Footy
I'll miss his unfinished sentences...

Harley Bennell Injury
I'd be surprised if he didn't have a number of setbacks. That's the nature of his injury. As long as he gets there in the end...

Ssshh, it's a closed session
Thanks Dworship. Love a good spy story.

One thing you'd like to see in 2020
A game plan! A system that doesn't involve hit-and-hope balls kicked to the top of the square. Or a system that doesn't press too far and leave opposition running into open, easy goals. Where the midfield are not bees to a honeypot and no one plays outside... Other than that. Players played in correct positions. Team selection based on form/fitness.

Memorable Kickers
Good kicks include Flower, Stretch, Grinter, Lyon, Bennett, Jakovich, Davey, Yze, Watts, Salem, Johnstone, Schwarz, Robbo (latter years), Charles, Farmer and Warren Dean.

TRAINING: Wednesday 18th December 2019
Deakin is a better name than RMIT, Skuit. You've been out of the country too long! ?

How much will Melbourne improve in 2020??
We'll finish the home and away in fourth spot, win two finals and then I'm not sure what happens!

TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2019
Saty, with sports photography you'll need to take your camera off full automatic mode, use a fast shutter speed and use aperture priority mode. Otherwise you're only hope is to fluke a good shot!

TRAINING: Friday 6th December 2019
Not sure its as black and white as this Saty! Posters here are not necessarily fanboys but observers. His running capacity is superb and he does continue to get in the right positions. However, his ability to tackle and/or kick (perhaps when fatigued) is very poor. No Melb player misses more shots from 15-20 metres out on the run, and no Melb. player currently on the list has so many missed tackles. These are the areas, if he gets right, could mean he is a very dangerous player and great asset to the team.

What to do with what is now Pick 32?
Wonder if clubs think Gould won't be able to keep the weight off and won't have the running capacity for AFL? He looks like a natural leader and a natural footballer.

Nearest the Pin
Heard over the past how we don't leak, blah blah. If Jackson and Pickett are the first two chosen someone in the football department has leaked! My NTP criteria is recruit elite ball users that don't mind getting their hands dirty. Kind of points to Young, Ash or Stephens...

International Rules is Back
Good, should never have stopped.

Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
The low ball drop is a delight. Definetely a Hibberd replacement. Be interested to know if he could make it into the midfield. Salem, as an example, has struggled to make that transition.

Cornes Staggered By Dees Decisions
Fair bit of shooting the messenger here. In the AFL media you are encouraged to make provocative statements. The fact that Cornes does this regularly shouldn't mean we all get our knickers in a twist... Cornes hates Goodwin, Cornes never coached, Cornes is a [censored]... He's just a guy with an opinion. No different to us. Relax.

How do you rate our trade period?
I didn't like losing Frost one bit. Pace, strength and unpredictability are not bad traits. I like Langdon (despite the ponytail) and to a lesser extent Tomlinson who should be running into his prime. The pick swap with Norf was a bit like a rich woman from Brighton wanting to spend more after maxing out her husbands credit card! Buy now, pay later. Let's see what our two first round draft picks bring. Taylor won't be trotting out: "we picked the best available..." this draft if we are serious in trying to address our gaping holes . Would love there to be a surprise in the PSD, but those don't happen to Melbourne!

2019 Player Reviews: #16 Kade Kolodjashnij
A million dollars badly spent... 3 x 350,000.

2019 Player Reviews: #14 Michael Hibberd
I think he is gone. Lost a couple of yards of pace. His efforts this year weren't from a lack of trying though. We need a contingency plan for both Hibberd and Nev.

Tom Papley
Be ironic if we did a deal for him! He's from Bunyip and played for Casey if I remember correctly! Could of had when no one else wanted him!

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
A versatile, top 15 player that costs nothing other than salary. That's a tick from me!

Farewell Sam Frost
Frost played some decent games this year and late last year. In fact, over the full season was probably our best defender with Salem falling in a hole. I' ll always remember the big barrel he kicked in the first quarter in the semi-final against Hawthorn to help kick our first goal. Solid shoulder to shoulder player too. So it seems strange that he is on his way especially with the likes of OMac staying. Surely to improve your list you don't offer contracts to your worst performing players and try and keep your better ones?

No [censored] policy
Embezzlement in Walters' case after he finished playing of course.

When big clubs stop being big clubs
Yes and no. Leicester showed what's possible with great man management, confidence, and passion. Atletico Madrid are another that punch well above their weight in Spain. But point taken its difficult to consistently beat Man City/Liverpool/Chelsea/Man U etc in the Premier League with inflated budgets, and access to the best of everything.

Rory Laird
I'm with a few posters. Hibberd is done. Has lost a couple of yards of pace and even though the effort is there, he's a shadow of the 2017 All-Australian. Nev is a different player. More traditional lock-down of opposition's best small forward. Not sure he has long left either. So Laird makes complete sense. He's the best going around for the role he plays but is easily worth a first round pick.
