  1. What is the average membership sales for round 1? You'd reckon there would be a few that would leave their purchase for until round 1
  2. Just changed to Google Chrome. Problem gone.
  3. Yes, I've experienced this problem for a while. I haven't been reading Demonland because of it. Page keeps freezing & trying to load "javascript", "twitter" etc & goes on forever Looks like Google Chrome is the way to go.
  4. The line by line broadcast om Melbournefc is OK. Especially when there is nothing else!!
  5. Any chance of hitting 30,000 by round 1?
  6. My 2c worth. I don't mind if Tom puts contract negotiations until the end of the year. Hopefully, by the end of 2011, the MFC & Tom would have had an excellent & successful year. If Tom then decides to stay, so be it. But if Tom wants to leave, then I reckon on field success of 2011 would give us some bargaining power when talking compensation. I don't know what is going to happen on Friday, I think all angles have been covered in this thread. My guess would be that he reads from a well scripted statement prepared by his management, in accordance with MFC, that he will put contract negotiations aside until end of 2011. He will then stand up, walk out & take no questions.
  7. This made my blood boil, when I read it this morning. Carlton Hits Jackpot How can it be allowed to happen? How can 1 organisation end up with so many poker machines & the State Government allow it to happen? Must be great to have an important person in high places. An "important" person that robs machines from the likes of Richmond, the Bulldogs & now obtains more machines from the North Melbourne Giants & gives them to a scum side like Carlton. Must be great to have an important person like Bruce Mathieson - the pub king. I hope Carlton choke this year & miss out on the 8. Rant over.
  8. I don't think I can ever remember having ever heard him saying is a Melbourne supporter. I remember someone on one of the hundreds of footy shows he appears on, asked him who he follows & he said "I follow no one, however, I do have a soft spot for the Bulldogs".
  9. I thought it was Melbourne V Essendon - our home game. Therefore, we wear our home strip & they can display their new clash strip. But as usual, we will probably submit.
  10. Dustin Fletcher? He was Sheeds favourite & should be 37 by the time GWS play their 1st official game.
  11. Interesting approach taken by the Crows. As mentioned in the article on AFL.com, it might backfire just like Mark Thompson & Gary Ablett at Geelong. Crows confront unsigned players I reckon Neil Craig has a point. Why would you want this disruption on your club ALL year? Very delicate situation.
  12. Friday or Saturday night would've drawn a good crowd - including our family. Thursday night? I'll certainly try to get there, but chances are not good. Foxtel it is.
  13. Agree 100% My hatred of all teams is "on field only" - what happens off field is not my concern, I wont go out of my way to wish any team financial harm. As mentioned in other posts, we were not far away & I hope it will never happen to us again. Just wish we smash them this year, because this wood they have over us is beginning to annoy me!!!
  14. Get ready for a barrage of calls to SEN from "Norf" supporters again.
  15. I reckon it would take more than 3 generations (over 60 years) & over $100m to make ANY inroads into GWS. The swans have been in Sydney since 1982 & their players can still walk through Sydney unrecognised by locals. GWS is rugby league heartland, followed second by soccer. AFL would not even rate. Would dads of GWS allow their sons or daughters to follow AFL? I think not!!! Ninty percent of all patrons attending games in GWS would be free tickets a la Brisbane Bears of the late 80's. It will be a circus!!!
  16. Scully is a great player, no doubt about it. However, his future is in his own hands, not ours - it has nothing to do with us - put yourself in his shoes. He chooses money OR potential success - he is still young, he can have both in his career. My beef is with the AFL system. They introduced the draft to assist clubs like ours & then they allow young players like Scully, Martin etc. to be subjected to open slather from Gold Coast & GWS within 12 months of being drafted – very wrong. If Scully goes, so be it. I won’t be angry with him, as long as they recognise his potential & reward us accordingly. I have enough confidence in our administration & our list that we will do well over the next 5 years. Unfortunately, if Scully does not commit now, the Gary Ablett Jnr syndrome will be at Melbourne this year. Poor Dean Bailey having to answer the same question every week for the rest of the year. The longer this goes, the more inevitable it becomes.
  17. Yes. I must admit this line in the letter also worried me. It doesn't make sense to commit to absorbing a $1.80m debt, when we just cleared ours. Unless there is some "grab all pokie machines at all cost mentality", which would be wrong. What also concerns me is that the Melbourne Racing Club did a due diligence & found that they "could not get a return to justify the investment". So what are we doing? Does the club see something I don't?
  18. The AFL will do what it needs to do, to ensure its bastard creations up north are succesful. Even if it means cannibalising young talent from Victorian teams, picked up in a draft system designed by them.
  19. It's Friday night - find a great pub with Foxtel
  20. I been in this situation many times leading into previous AAMI games & was let down many times. I reckon we will go down in straight sets. Only hope we don't embarass ourselves like we do EVERYTIME we play there!!!
